brados:
Welcome to Camerons BIG SOCIETY!!! Or should I just say his society
I sincerely wish her well.
Perhaps if Labour had not screwed this country finacially more than any government in living history, there might, just might be more jobs around for people like this unfortunate woman.
Pricisely, its funny how history repeats itself time after time, the kids (The Labour Party this time led by Tony, Gordon and their pals) have the biggest party going, raid the drinks cabinet and empty the larder. But this time the banks gate crashed it aswell and ■■■■■■ on the carpets and ■■■■ in the beds. The parents then come home (Conservatives usually) and have to set about cleaning up all the ■■■■, wash the laundry and restock with food and drinks.
Yep we sure have a good time under Labour, but sure as night follows day, after a big party theres a hangover to suffer, house to clean and credit card bill to pay, and everyone hates the parents

Sorry,but you missed somethings.
For exemple that you dont hear or see any fighting, complaining or Whining from Super Marked Chaines.
They just pay them out they need and go up with Prize instore
Also, don’t miss the Fight of recruitment Agencies, where the cheapest get the Contract, take the Jobs they need and let the old Agencies, running on experienced Workers laying them off,as the one, like, (XNo,i will not name oneX)
well, will say Drivers of Agencies layed off as Agencies got Mayority who run Drivers from the Eastern European Countries, recruiting them at Home for £7.50 and work now 5 and 6 Days the Week during other suffer. In that Case i call you wrong,as not the Party is doing that. Its the big retailers who take the Creme and contract cheap Agency Worker and Illegal Immigrants which lets the Country suffer. You are still right, but if there needs cleaning up then everybody has to do anything, not just them who hasnt got a Union Booklet.
If she is able to travel down to wales, I know S&K are looking for continetal trampers away for 2 weeks at a time, its a job she wont need a house for at least 2 weeks, if what the job centre adverts say is correct she’d be looking at £37k a year, easily sort out accomodation after the first 2 weeks away. Not sure what S&K are like but in her predicament I doubt beggers can be choosers, but one thing I do wish her all the best and instead of finding fault in how she has come to be in this situation some contributors to this thread should offer a little more help or at least a bit of sympathy as if the tables were turned they surely would want the same help.

One of the drivers on here was on for S&K, went there for euro tramping, believe it was a load of bull and you get loads of local work and home at night, believe he travelled from nr Manchester, so a bit of a hike.
Just a little more of a history lesson for you and anyone who is 54 years or older. It may have been Ted Heath who eventually took us into the Common Market. I say eventually because we were vetoed before that by the French in 1960. It took 16 years after the formation of the original six members in 1957 before Britain became a member in 1973.
More to the point,in 1975, it was a Harold Wilson Labour government who held a public referendum as to whether the UK stayed in the Common Market and it was a resounding YES.
So if you want to have a pop at anyone, go around to your parents house or your granddads house and stick the nut on them. Anyone who is over the magical age mentioned above has only them selves to blame, we live in a democracy and I am pleased that YES was the winner.
The six original members of the single market were France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Holland.
The salient point there wheelnut is that we voted for continuing in the “common market”, not Europe.
two completely different things
we voted for free trade, not unlimited access by european residents (or if we did, not the present enlarged EU)

It was more in reply to Brados who correctly said that Heath took us in, but Wilson didn’t get us out 2 years later.

I think the so called ‘resounding yes’ was more of a don’t really know but if the politicians say it’s good then they must be right or can’t be bothered in most cases anyway. That was until the price rises started coming through the system together with the the ‘actual’ trade deficit figures which ‘actually’ showed that we exported more and imported less from the EEC memebers before we joined.
As for the OP it’s just another example of the fact that we’ve got an American type non existent ‘social security’ system but we’re also paying loads of tax and national insurance contributions to the government for the privilege when what we should be doing is making private provision for sickness, redundancy and retirement etc and passing the costs on in wages .
The Labour socialist idea,of so called ‘social security’,has just turned into a type of enforced subsidy to employers,by protecting them from the true social cost of living requirements being passed on in wage demands and rip off taxation by the government for what is effectively worthless cover.
Well said Malc…but i dont want some one coming round here to nut me, but thanks anyway i voted for the common market in its day, but didnt expect to be controlled by europe. We were told that it was in our interest as a trading bloc, and we would be better off, we were also told that if we pay S.E.R.P.S. we would be on the equivalent of a final salary, we were lied to on both counts, but ask the british public again to vote on our exit, or to stay, we would be out of the bloody thing, which is why cameron will not honour his pledge to a referendum. So after the politics, back to this woman living in a car.
I believe that her home was her truck, and in losing her job, she lost her home, therefore no contingency plan, maybe she left where she was living, and used the truck as her home, and therefore, when everything was hunky-dory, all was ok, and not expecting the company to go ■■■■ up, or unexpectedly getting the push, has left her in limbo. However as has been said, there is an address on her licence, she could use that maybe ( depending where it is of course ) Our company possibly would take her on, but no guarantee, and maybe no chance of living in the truck because they double shift most of them, and you have to have your time off, where would she go then. Most companies would not allow staff to use the truck as a home, unless spending long periods of time away, and some would value her for that. I feel sorry for her but i am moving home next week, away from london. If looking for a bedsit, most landlords in london want 3 months rent in advance, plus references. I doubt social security would help cos shes got no address, and as stated, its a vicious circle, but good luck to her, and to the guys who are trying to help.
LoadsOfHorses:
Wincanton have just posted Class I jobs for Sainsbury based at Greenford, West London, with a start date of 23rd March, paying £11.94 an hour.
Hopefully this would be suitable for her.
Assuming that there’s not 10 applicants for each position then maybe. If it’s that easy then the government obviously wouldn’t have any problem in paying enough for homeless jobseekers to live on and keep their houses until they manage to just walk into another job paying around £12 per hour in no time.
The poor woman has no hope now - Carryfast has arrived and will undoubtedly swamp this thread in unmitigated political V8 powered drivel, as usual
I sincerely hope this lady gets back on her feet very soon. There but for the grace of God…
It all depends on wether anyone thinks that relying on God to get them out of the financial zb when they lose their job isn’t drivel and is better than my idea of decent private provision to cover all that instead.Assuming the government wouldn’t then be getting the tax contributions for the present rip off so called social security system.
brados:
Welcome to Camerons BIG SOCIETY!!! Or should I just say his society
I sincerely wish her well.
Perhaps if Labour had not let every Tom ■■■■ and Harry into the country for the last decade, not signed us all into Europe without the referendum they promised the country, and screwed this country finacially more than any government in living history, there might, just might be more jobs around for people like this unfortunate woman.
The same Labour that actually employed people meaning they put money into the economy and the dole queues were shorter?
if you want to talk about the jobs situation you might want to start having a dig at the moron in charge of the country who is hell bent on lobbing everyone possible out of work.
Back on topic I hope this lady finds a job. I’ve lived on Excrement Avenue more than once, it certainly wasn’t easy and even then I had a roof over my head unlike this unfortunate woman.

*Edit: sorry, who did you say got us into Europe? I think you need to read your history books before posting as it sure as hell wasn’t Labour. Want to take a wild guess which party it actually was?
She’s obviously useless. No agency will give her a shift? No employer will touch her? And unlike many millions of bone idol, useless British citizens to stupid to claim benifits.
bubsy06:
Lmao
Life is what you make it, clearly she is a person who wants everything given to her on a plate
Let’s see, you’re laughing your backside off at this woman’s predicament (life must be really good for you at the moment - hope you had a great nights sleep), and at the same time - without actually knowing how this fellow human being ended up in this situation - you’re assuming she’s expecting and waiting for other people to sort her life out for her.
I’d love you to come back and explain that stupid, moronic comment. Although I suspect I’ve already answered my own question.
Dear oh dear.
So you expect me to feel sorry for her etc etc etc
If I and many others can manage to keep a roof over our heads why cant she?
So you expect me to feel sorry for her etc etc etc

Do you know the details of how she got into this situation?
I worked with a driver who was laid off from work… by the time he got home on the Friday his partner had emptied the bank account handed their flat back to the landlord and got the deposit and disapeared… leaving him skint and homeless
I dont see where she has asked for handouts or charity from anyone, she has called everyone she can think of to try to get work to get herself back on her feet, one of those people was the editor of the best selling magazine for drivers. His idea was he would ask those who may have the best idea of any vacancies going ( as we all know many are never advertised) and so asked on the biggest website for drivers on her behalf
That to me shows she is making a huge effort to get herself out of this predicament not being bone idle or doing nothing…

Mate of mine was on there and used to struggle to get home! they have always had a reputation as a firm that will leave you out as long as you want to be so don’t know what the problem was there? Maybe it was the wages don’t warrant weekending out and like most international work don’t compete with domestic work.
