Any plans to expand into mainland Europe ? well yes it covers the whole lot but the penalty for any one from the mainland is £50 on the spot but we have been promised they will return and face the music at a later date. Seems pointless. Much like prefacing a question with the word question, when the text and question mark at the end identify it as a question to anybody with even a basic grasp of English.
Having trawled through the previous pages (which took some time), no mention has been made of the drivers that just don’t have the dosh to pay for the DCPC (whether you agree with it or not). Not everyone has a generous company willing to pay for the DCPC, no doubt undertaken in paid company time. There’s people like myself that through circumstance have no job (I refused to run bent), others have been made redundant through no fault of their own. When you are in this situation there is absolutely no way on earth can you afford the DCPC. Now if somebody offered me a DCPC for £50 obviously I would pay up. Without blowing my own trumpet I doubt there’s much I could learn on one of these courses, unless of course the last 35+ years experience doesn’t count? Well actually it doesn’t count anymore does it? and there lays the problem.

my boss will pay for me to go on the course but only on a weekend. problem is my weekends are precious to me, i refuse point blank to work weekends so i don’t want to be stuck in a classroom when i could be doing something with the family. i only need another 14 hours as my adr course got the rest. i’m at loggerheads with the boss so what’s a man to do.
i’d love a pm with information on getting the rest of my hours signed for. total discretion assured.

Humbug s post just got me thinking, He says he doesnt want to do further training at the weekend, he would rather be with his family…and i dont blame him, here lies the question.
If his boss, told him he has to do it at weekends or else, is weekend training classed as other work, in fact i suppose you could ask that of any other situation, is it other work. I would assume that it is, especially in my case, at the time i was working for a very large company, when they decided to put all of the drivers and subbies through the cpc. It was to be held on company premises, as the office building is very, very large, and has multiple classrooms/meeting rooms, so that wasnt an issue. The teachers were from a college, and the cost to the company was ZERO, because the college had applied and got a grant from the government ( did they stop that in the end ) anyway, we were being paid to sit the course in one go, ie, a block of 5 x 7, although we never did the 7 hours, till one of the polish guys asked the company if they had any extra work, and would they pay him extra, so endeth the early finishes, the subbies had to take a loss themselves, but at least they got a free CDPC.
All this talk about how it can be improved just goes to show that some unfortunately really have been taken in by it all , swallowed the propaganda, missed the real motive, and evidently do not see it for what it really is ie. a big money making con under the guise of raising standards in driver qualification, and not a genuine effort to improve standards in the industry as they would have us believe.
As far as the Euro bureaucrats are concerned there is no need to improve it, or change the format, … because there is simply no need to, as it is achieving the intended agenda, which is to generate a form of stealth tax, and at the same time create an industry out of it… I even saw an advert today for dcpc trainers to train new dcpc trainers, and so it goes on making even more money. So as for changing or improving things , it aint gonna happen because it ISN’T REAL , and things are doing fine as it is right now for them as all intended goals are being achieved.

Anyone heard of any UK Lib/Lab/Green/Con politician questioning the validity - let alone vetoing the non-value of the DCPC
I thought not - so by default they embrace it on behalf of you and all other constituents
