Doing away with diesels?

alamcculloch:
I hope that those in power realize sooner rather than later that we just could not live as we do without the diesel engine. They have been powering the world for a long time because so far there is no real workable alternative.

My advice to ‘those in power’ would be to put 25p per litre more tax on diesel and take 25p per litre tax off petrol and LPG then see if there’s ‘no alternative’. :bulb:

Radar19:
If diesels are so bad, why do they have adblue?

They have ad blue and all the other expensive add ons in an hit and miss attempt clean up their dirty emissions ‘because’ diesels are so bad. :bulb:

Having said that is the government’s agenda all about getting rid of an obsolete dirty fuel type as opposed to hitting all internal combustion use.More like the latter.

Having said that is the governments agenda all about getting rid of an obsolete dirty fuel.Or hitting all internal combustion engine use using the justified backlash against diesel as just an excuse.More like the latter.Typical politicians.

Why are not the diesels that used to cost four figures now not costing three?

If everyone is going to be ditching diesel, then surely there is a glut overhang in the market, and nowhere near enough buyers?

The fact that there is a glut of diesel auto box cars is without doubt.

It seems obvious that it’s a combination of sellers not being able to sustain that type of drop regardless on the basis of might as well keep it rather than sell it.Together with the market in general either not believing that the government will implement the punitive measures being proposed.Or burying its head in the sand in the hope that it won’t happen.Or maybe rightly thinking that it makes no difference because the government’s real agenda is to hit all types of vehicle use.Together with over estimating the fuel consumption advantages v maintenance downsides, like autos,of diesels, especially over low average mileages.

While I’d guess it will be a lot easier to get the asking price for this than the equivalent diesel auto spec and low mileage. :bulb:
