I feel if you need drugs, tobacco or alcohol to aid in enjoying life then you are severely missing out. I spent a lot of my younger years wired, stoned and drunk. Then i grew up! realised there is more to life and that you get a better fulfilment from it without the need of any additional uplifts. I drink to accompany meals as part of a meal now and have given up smoking ■■■■ altogether.
I’m happy and contented in experiencing life without the need of a crux. The largest issue with any illegal drugs is that around such “harmless” drugs is the criminal entity that surrounds it. From the smuggled Vietnamese workers factoring plants in houses to the girls working the streets paying or their addiction. The argument surrounding the legality of drugs is a odd one really, and comparing it to alcohol is a little odd too. Granted you can become addicted to both, just in the same way you can become addicted to fruit machines, the horses and the internet. But again if you need those things to improve or run you’re life then you need to look deeply at yourself and wonder why
So what improves your life? After reading that my overriding feeling is you need to live and let live. Jut because you don’t like something doesn’t mean people have a problem with their life if they like it
There is so much more to life, than alcohol and drug fuelled ■■■ parties, it may have taken me some time to discover what the ‘more’ is, but I discovered it eventually
They discussed this on Radio 5 last night and they had an ‘hgv driver’ who’s name or voice couldn’t be used , and he said that 2 out of 10 drivers he knew were using Amphetamine or Coke to keep awake , it made us sound like we’re all out of our heads and going 5 hours over our driving limit !! Even the transport minister defended us and said we were strictly governed regarding hours and that if there are HGV drivers using drugs it’s a very small amount and thought 2 from 10 was exaggerated. I do believe that drink is a much bigger problem and needs to be addressed. Just look at our towns and cities at the weekend.

I hate it on the motorway and it says " police speed check area! " I quickly bomb me quarter of speed, snort me columbian marching power and put me craic pipe down before they check it! Lol

I think some people take drugs to have fun and after a night or weekend out just get on with things like anybody else, theres no deep underlying meaning to it.
Humans have been getting out their nuts since the year dot.
Taking anything that impaires your awareness while operating dangerous equipment is a very selfish and stupid thing to do but what you do on your free time is your own business.
A reasoned argument of the facts is fine and if your against it thats fine too but ranting that everybody is junkies or they have bad lives is downright laughable.
I find people who have or do dabble in recreational drugs to be more fun and more open minded about letting others live their lives.
On a bad day here I could have any drug I wanted in under an hour.
Gangsters are getting rich, users are dying, workers in this trade are murdered and gangs in parts of the world are running the countries for a policy thats quite simply ludicrous.
Legalise it, tax it, help those that cant control themselves and lets get back to arresting people who actually commit crimes.
How refreshing it would be if the Police said your house or car robbery will be investigated thouroughly instead of shrugging their shoulders and saying resources dont allow it.

I’m not saying that they do, but what improves my life is the fact i don’t need to rely on such. People are completely free to do as they wish and as they see fit, but i think when it adversely effects other people then it becomes an issue.

No not at all people are free to do as they wish, i believe smoking in pubs should be brought back for instance. In the knowledge that if you go to a pub (non food selling) you can expect to be fumigated by smokers should you wish to be.
There is more to life than being canned, wired, ■■■■■■ and smelling like a tramp.

Fine but you were judging people by what works in your life. That’s a mistake. People enjoy all sorts of things for different things, doesn’t mean their life is lacking.

If you need drugs or alcohol to find fulfilment in life then you surely are missing something.

Who’s looking for fulfilment? Your looking in the wrong place for the wrong things. I’m not missing anything. If I want a night out and to get ■■■■■■ that’s it, nothing more. I’m not out there looking for fulfilment or the meaning of life, I’m looking for a laugh with my mates.
^^^^ Agreed.
People are trying to scrabble for the moral high ground here, there isn’t any.
If you go out for fun with mates and decide to get drunk or high or both it’s because you choose to for your own fun,not some sense of fulfillment in life.
I took ■■■■ loads as a teen/young man growing up. Weed,LSD,speed,E’s and coke at times.
I did it because I chose to,I did it at weekends at all night/weekend raves that some of us young uns went to.
I did it every weekend for a couple of years.
I didn’t do it for some fulfillment in life or peer pressure.I enjoyed getting off my ■■■■ on drugs so I did.
People were causing far more trouble and harm on the streets with alcohol than us party drug users ever could.
We weren’t interested in trouble,it was all about the fun and the party.
It was about 17-18 years ago and I don’t regret any of it,if I could go back in time and do it all again I would and not change a thing.
I don’t condone drug or drink driving at all,but I don’t see why some people feel they have to make comment on others recreational drug use if it is not harming anyone.
*Don’t bother coming back to me with a junkie example,I know of 2,used to know 3.1 died.
Pat Hasler:
I can’t believe how many so called ‘Profesional drivers’ on this forum actually seem to admit they use drugs ?
Reading the posts on the subject quite a few have admitted it In my opinion anyone taking any type of drug for recreation has no right holding any licence. I am suprised you are stupid enough to do it let alone admit it. I don’t care who you are I would shop you in a minute to keep you off the road…
There … rant over.
not read all the thread but going to answer you direct.
Do you drink?
If so it is a drug.
Do you smoke?
If so it is drug,
Do you drink coffee?
If so it is a drug.
How ■■■■■■■ high is that pedestal you’ve climbed on to, bet you can kiss gods arse from there!
What gives you the right to condemn anybody for doing something you have no knowledge or experience of.
We all know you think your some kind of super trucker, driving over in the US of A, you go on about it enough.
There is less harm done by someone who’s had a few joints on a Saturday night than someone who’s drunk nine or ten pints!
Please think about what your saying before you put your mouth into gear, you make yourself sound like a real Pratt trying to be chief if the holier than thou brigade!

There are crossed wires here somewhere. My point was that those who need to get drunk or use drugs yo “have fun” are missing a key element in there life. If you cannot “have fun” without the need for those then that is where you are missing something.
