^^^^ Agreed.
People are trying to scrabble for the moral high ground here, there isn’t any.
If you go out for fun with mates and decide to get drunk or high or both it’s because you choose to for your own fun,not some sense of fulfillment in life.
I took [zb] loads as a teen/young man growing up. Weed,LSD,speed,E’s and coke at times.
I did it because I chose to,I did it at weekends at all night/weekend raves that some of us young uns went to.
I did it every weekend for a couple of years.
I didn’t do it for some fulfillment in life or peer pressure.I enjoyed getting off my ■■■■ on drugs so I did.
People were causing far more trouble and harm on the streets with alcohol than us party drug users ever could.
We weren’t interested in trouble,it was all about the fun and the party.
It was about 17-18 years ago and I don’t regret any of it,if I could go back in time and do it all again I would and not change a thing.
I don’t condone drug or drink driving at all,but I don’t see why some people feel they have to make comment on others recreational drug use if it is not harming anyone.
*Don’t bother coming back to me with a junkie example,I know of 2,used to know 3.1 died.
The conception that recreational drugs harms no one is narrow minded. Where do those drugs come from? How do they get to your pocket? How much harm comes to people in that process?
Do drugs…Keep it to yourself, bother no-one. Don’t preach about using them and I’'ll be happy. However…If a drug related problem involving me or mine occurs. Then it’s different.

There are crossed wires here somewhere. My point was that those who need to get drunk or use drugs yo “have fun” are missing a key element in there life. If you cannot “have fun” without the need for those then that is where you are missing something.
Spacemonkeypg:
I feel if you need drugs, tobacco or alcohol to aid in enjoying life then you are severely missing out. I spent a lot of my younger years wired, stoned and drunk. Then i grew up! realised there is more to life and that you get a better fulfilment from it without the need of any additional uplifts. I drink to accompany meals as part of a meal now and have given up smoking ■■■■ altogether.
I’m happy and contented in experiencing life without the need of a crux. The largest issue with any illegal drugs is that around such “harmless” drugs is the criminal entity that surrounds it. From the smuggled Vietnamese workers factoring plants in houses to the girls working the streets paying or their addiction. The argument surrounding the legality of drugs is a odd one really, and comparing it to alcohol is a little odd too. Granted you can become addicted to both, just in the same way you can become addicted to fruit machines, the horses and the internet. But again if you need those things to improve or run you’re life then you need to look deeply at yourself and wonder why
So what improves your life? After reading that my overriding feeling is you need to live and let live. Jut because you don’t like something doesn’t mean people have a problem with their life if they like it
I’m not saying that they do, but what improves my life is the fact i don’t need to rely on such. People are completely free to do as they wish and as they see fit, but i think when it adversely effects other people then it becomes an issue.
Fine but you were judging people by what works in your life. That’s a mistake. People enjoy all sorts of things for different things, doesn’t mean their life is lacking.
If you need drugs or alcohol to find fulfilment in life then you surely are missing something.
Who’s looking for fulfilment? Your looking in the wrong place for the wrong things. I’m not missing anything. If I want a night out and to get ■■■■■■ that’s it, nothing more. I’m not out there looking for fulfilment or the meaning of life, I’m looking for a laugh with my mates.

I went out Saturday night and got smashed with some mates had a great time. Met up with a mate after work tonight in Starbucks still had a great couple of hours catching up. In both cases the fulfilment came from spending time with people I like not the choice of beverage.
Although to be fair I think id struggle to kick coffee more than beer lol.

Absolute crap
+1
Depends totally what fun your after.
Beats about the bush all this fulfilling, key elements, I need to know exactly what this is. lol
I was just thinking how much music for instance wouldn’t exist without drugs. Was a drugged up David Bowie in the 70’s missing something? He created some of the greatest music of all time completely off his face! So did lots of others. Without drugs we’d probably have a choice of Cliff Richard or the Jonas Brothers.

And we would only have rubbish stuff like Cant buy me love by the Beatles instead of the magic stuff like Yellow Submarine

That isnt true in all respects as it is a well known fact that H from the super group Steps was a heavy heroin user and that group produced some absolute crap over the years.

The dame just hit 65. Mick and Keef ain’t doing bad. Eric Clapton iggy pop Lou reed. There’s loads who have made it through.
On a personal note a mate of mine who is 55 has just had to have a stent due to ticker trouble. Now in his spare time this bloke has shagged god knows how many women poured good knows how much beer and pills down his throat and good knows what up his nose. Many of the best nights of my life have been on nights out with him. His brother in law who is about the same age has never smoked hardly drinks used to go jogging cycling etc is a vegiterian has just had to have a triple bypass.
Now I know given the choice who’s life I would have picked to have and it don’t include jogging

Even Buddy Holly went down in a cloud of smoke
Errrr you can’t blame people dying in a plane crash on drugs. Which is what this post is about. When you asked how many have died I assumed you meant from drugs not everything. We all die you know. The reality is surprisingly few have died from drink and drugs.

What? is it balls
Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Mama Cass, John Lennon, Andy Gibb, Bob Marley, Bon Scott, Kurt Cobain, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Layne Staley, Buddy Holly Elvis Presley, George Harrison, Freddie Mercury, Jerry Garcia, Joey Ramone, Tommy Bolin, David Michael Alexander, Billy Holiday, Hank Williams, Johnny Thunders, Kevin DuBrow, Sid Vicious, Dee Dee Ramone, Brian Jones, Kieth Moon, Hillel Slovak, Amy Winehouse
A lot of folk have a lot more to thank alcohol and drugs for, than they think.
Alcohol has been pivotal in some of the Philosophies that the modern world has relied upon for years.
The Greeks spent most of their time guzzling wine and coming up with amazing theories and inventions.
