6 pages and the only positive comments that are for this horsecrap come from the ones who have seen an opportunity to fleece their fellow drivers by embracing it, and making a career out of being an instructor :unamused: . Apart from the newbies who ( through no fault of their own) have been brainwashed with this bollox, are there any seasoned drivers on here, who have done a bit, actually disbelieve that the DCPC is nothing more than a stealth tax on drivers??

Spot on !
" the ones who have seen an oppurtunty to fleece their fellow drivers "
I will be borrowing that description.

So what is your opinions on driving instructors then?
Don’t hate the player, hate the game an all

Nowt against DIs,they are teaching something useful to inexperienced new drivers on a career path, not teaching old drivers, who are more than likely more experienced than they are, how to ā– ā– ā– ā–  eggs.

I say this everytime the subject raises its head, I know it will get forgotten but when the day comes the date will be put back or some other loophole allowing the many non compliant drivers a way forward, as has been said the Fatherland is proposing a delay already.[/quote

I only Drive HGV 1 /PCV 1 Part time now. as i dont need thease licences in my normal job
no one would pay for me,the coach co i work for wouldent pay becouse im casual, fair comment i gues but at some point as been said before if you want/need to drive big stuff just do the course,i dont think it will be scraped .
PS. Ive been a Truck Driver most of my life since 1977 both uk/euro. The way i see it i may need to go back Driving full time. Could be more drivers needed if so many dont do it ?

yeah but back in the day there was no test. so when the test was introduced were the first instructors the ones who had seen an opportunity to fleece their fellow soon to be drivers?

don’t get me wrong, i think the dcpc in it’s current form is pretty useless. but i defiantly think training with tests is a good idea. a scientist with no hgv experience would learn more in a month, maybe a week about load restraining than the majority truckers learn in a lifetime

…

Is there an EU country where LGV drivers with over X amount of experience were exempted from the DCPC ?

HGV drivers with a proven track record were exempt the hgv driving test, only new drivers were then made to sit the test, such obvious logic is ā€˜offensive’ to the dcpc legislators, the dcpc has as much functional reality in raising drivers skills and status as it has in raising the Titanic, and voices of discontent in euroland are more easily drowned than the passengers of the Titanic itself.

A scientist would need an instruction manual to find the cab on a lorry, this would prevent him from roping and sheeting the cab to the lorry.

but the dcpc is periodic, existing hgv drivers were exempt from the 1st period

Its like i have said all along…grandfather rights to wot ? its not worth a kick in the knackers…like robroy has said its just a tax which has been disguised as a benefit to drivers, there is a big majority of blokes with at least 25 yrs + what use is it to them, and then at 45 yrs old you have to cough up near enough 500 quid just to keep driving as though its a privalidge to do so ! thats every 5 yrs whos ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  up whos back ā– ā– .

Experience does not always mean skilled.
I’ve meet many so called experienced truck drivers, some of them were the drivers I looked up to when I started because they’d been doing the job for 30+ years, and talk a good job.
A few years later I found they were also the drivers that caused the more than their fair share of damage on the fleet.

Be a good boy then and do your dcpc…thats if you havnt allready been done !

If you were taught to fly an aircraft using the ā€˜level and depth’ of the dcpc ā€˜process’, you wouldn’t get the plane to taxi, let alone take off,
If you were taught to navigate a ship using the ā€˜level and depth’ of the dcpc ā€˜process’, you wouldn’t get from Dover to Calais,
If you were taught to defuse a bomb with the ā€˜level and depth’ of the dcpc ā€˜process’, you wouldn’t turn up for work.
If you want a dcpc you simply buy it, periodically, like a TAX disc, am I not meant to notice that?.

Its a TAX what is it you dont get ? and some of the answers on here about well so and so he’s been driving 30 yrs and caused more damage…so the DCPC is going to make you a top driver after 35 hours of ■■■■■■■■…come on …mind you the brainwashed mite think so.

From my observations the dcpc has very little to do with the actual driving of a LGV on the road and that is the bit that a truck driver does most of generally

Its like saying lets have a cpc for chefs but vurtually none of it will have anything to do with cooking !!

I’ve never said (or believe) that DCPC is going to make you a top driver.
But neither does years of experience.

I think you’ll find Chefs and other working with food do a Food Hygiene Certificate, and that has nothing to do with cooking.
