Stevieboy,no offence mate, but I’m assuming, maybe wrongly, that you are a DCPC instructor, or maybe a new driver who has took the DCPC with your driver training? If you are an old hand I can not see how you can attempt to justify this bull sh, I won’t bore the arse off you giving a run down of my experience, it’s just that I take it as an insult having to be taught things that I have learnt since 1979, by somebody who was driving Tonka toys on the living room carpet when I was driving real trucks at the same time, what “new skills” , are they gonna teach me and those like me■■?
shytalk:
Wots puzzling you? and whats colour blind got to do with DCPC you get tested for that when you take a medical.
Think he means the bit he highlighted in red bud.

Sorry to disappoint ya boys, I’m not a trainer and have no desire to be one. I’m not a newbie either, although that’s subjective, 12 years class 1 but not used it for nearly 2 years. I’ve done nothing towards my dcpc and had no plans to, but it’s looking like we may be getting a truck at work, so if they want to put me though.
read the bit I put in red, I don’t agree with it in its current form.
ive done 2 sessions and will proberly do another 2 sessions in the next 3 months, i expect as this year goes on the more sessions under your belt the better it will be for finding work.

ROG:
Is there an EU country where LGV drivers with over X amount of experience were exempted from the DCPC ?
Rog - yes there is but I can’t remember which flamin one! I think it is either based on date of birth or date licence obtained (which would make more sense). I’m pretty sure it was date of birth though … I’ll try to find the info, I have it somewhere.
To be honest I wouldn’t disagree if they changed the rules so that someone with a preveable level of experience was exempt the DCPC - wouldn’t make any difference to me.

Do ya mean everybody in the future once they reach x years exp or just current drivers that have the x years?
Ive done four modules, doing the last one in January. Our
trainer is a decent bloke who will quite readily admit that all the dcpc is doing is costing the driver money for nothing, we
ve all spent a fortune getting a qualification, our licence.
He also says that from roughly March time he reckons the price will more than double because there are nowhere near enough trainers
to do all the drivers that require doing, and also when the day comes expect plenty of tugs by vosa, seeing as they are self funding and not having your card with you will be a 1k fine.
got my card already
21 hours when i did my adr
7 hours from doing a hiab refresher
and 7 hours from listening to the driver trainer at my old place spout rubbish about the DCPC is the best thing since sliced bread and how its going to transform the nations haulage industry . bizarrely after all that he did mention how to fill tacho charts in which was the only real thing he waffled on about that had to with driving
I think at the moment having a CPC card helps you get a job quicker then a driver with no CPC card - my opinion

I meant now - current drivers - all those who have acquired rights already. So lets say anyone who has been actively engaged in the profession for more than ‘X’ years (some relevant figure) is exempt for the rest of their careers. Previous experience must be proven some how.
I believe it is Denmark who base the DCPC on date of birth … but haven’t managed to find the full information yet.
Was it not the Netherlands who have it from age 56 or something?

but then what is the difference between them that have x years now and someone who passes their test next week, x years in the future?
IIRC its Holland where if you were born before 1953 you are considered expierienced enough. Its a tax and nowt else unless tacked on to Hiab or ADR.etc.
Someone with sense at last, why not for drivers with 25 yrs under there belt…the grandfather rites they give you now isnt worth jack ■■■■■■
well i aint doing it my digi card expired and i doubt i will even renew that and i really pity the fools who think wages will increase once it comes in!
