Just wondering how many are going to wait till our Grandfather rights are nearly up before doing it.
i`m waiting to see if the boss is going to offer to either pay for it and/or pay my wages while i attend. …i aint holding my breath tho
I think that the penny has dropped now for most mainstream drivers and operators.
The longer it’s left, the more difficult it will be to book convenient courses, and the price will go up in the last months.
I suspect that there are still some truck drivers out there working for non-transport companies who either know nothing of it, or think it doesn’t apply to them…especially those driving 7.5 tonnes on an old car licence.
the truth is…it even applies to mechanics taking trucks for annual test.

Nice
Well I’m taking private measures to get some of it funded by a training company but I aint telling my agency. i dont know what they reckon is going to happen when the day comes but unless they start forking out a bit for training they aint going to have anyone on their books qualified. That will be when their hand gets forced a bit. The gravy train will have screeched to a halt!!
I think loads of drivers are not going to do it. That is the general feedback I get when popping into businesses. We had a massive discount on this month for a certain group of drivers and only 2 have taken us up on it. They know we are reputable as their employer has vetted and approved us, but they are still not coming on the courses. I know money is tight at xmas especially but I think it was worth sticking it on credit card (I realise some ppl do not have them, I don’t ) and paying it off after xmas.
Me, because I’m in Canada and only do the occasional short stint in the UK when I get sick of it here so I’ll end up paying for it myself. In all likely hood I’ll probably leave it until well after the cut off date as it wont matter to me as I wont be working in the UK at the time.
I work for a National chain of shopkee…err builders merchants, I have had one, yes just one module. I keep asking when we will get the rest, but get fobbed off by the Regional Transport Office that ‘there is still plenty of time’
I am afraid that at 59 years old with only one module no one will take me on if I do want to find a normal transport job again. I need to work as I have a mortgage that wont be paid off for a long while yet. I am considering doing it private.

Done mine, got card in wallet as I type this. But then I am a good little European aint I ?
I hear that the Germans are knocking this CPC bowlocks back to 2016.Good on em if true.
Looks like I will be jacking it in,unless somebody pays for it for me,unlikely though.
Not the end of the world though, something else will turn up or I’ll sign on.

My mate is a night driver for DHL.
He gets 2 days pay (because he can’t work the previous night) based on his guaranteed 48 hour week plus travel expenses at 45p per mile for each seven hour session that’s done in house.
…Is Roger Elsom still the Senior Driver Assessor for DHL or has he finally retired? Either way - he’s an excellent bloke.

I don’t know who that is. The only assessors I know are the ones in my depot.
