FH12guy:
The time alone in collecting the £100 per trainee and distributing to the correct trainer in £20 chunks, , obviously recording it for the tax man etc would be a task for a full time bookeeper.
No it wouldn’t. The trainer would deal with it in exactly the same way they deal with any income.
But if the money is being collected by the organiser then distributed to the trainers, , are you saying that the money that would go through him doesnt have to be accounted for to HMRC?
(your local tax office may have a view on that one)
Are you also saying that the organiser would pay for the complete course upfront and hope that the trainer is still around in 5 years to deliver all the required modules?
Also if he is only to be acting as an agent and using existing trainers why is he registering with JAUPT and registering courses? surely the trainers will already be JAUPT registered?
for gods sake put a sock in it and give your ar$e a chance. ffs sour grapes. end of. now your boring my ■■■■ off
They just want to get the DCPC card for the minimum outlay and inconvenience.
I agree with you
What I disagree with is that it can be provided for £20 per session, I havent said its a good idea, just that the figures are wrong it hasnt been costed fully…
If the organiser costs it correctly and comes up with a figure thats workable and still a saving on whats currently out there then good for him.
And you havent answered why if he is only to be a broker why is he registering with Jaupt and registering the courses?
If he is going to be a provider subcontracting the sessions to trainers then he would come under JAUPT definition of Consortia. Which means all the legal regulation would come down on the head of the consortia lead ( The organiser).
How would he fund that if he is too take no money at all and pass it over to the trainers (Money in, Money out)
I hope he comes up with a workable solution at a decent price, I also hope he reads this and looks again at the costs and makes a reasonable adjustment so it doesnt all come down on his own bank account shortly after he starts. leaving him and the drivers out of pocket, and untrained

So because I am asking questions and doubting the costings of this scheme I should shut up and just let him get along with it
Ever thought that by raising issues it may actually help the organiser to look at things he hadnt taken into account and maybe stop the scheme falling flat on its arse
Ever thought if he answers the questions raised it may actually raise confidence in the scheme and get more onboard.
or is your only answer to valid questions to tell people to shut up? Hardly going to inspire the very people that will need convincing that this is a workable scheme if he is to get the numbers needed to get the price down by a real decent margin
Having checked with barrie today, i am convinced he has got it right and he does not strike me as the kind of person that would get involved in any sort of wrong doing re the taxman. i am satisfied that everything he has done and says he will do is above board and will be delivered. so all the trainers who thought they were going to screw every driver for the right to work. i hope you rot in hell you greedy [zb]. if there are not enough trainers to train all the drivers the the government will have to exempt drivers and go back to the drawing board. my money will be with barrie at T/W and if you had any sense you would to.

Or you could go onto truckersworld.co.uk and ask there like you have been requested too.
Asking here wont get you your answers as has already been said the organiser is not a member here.
I have allowed this discussion to continue for a while on here to avoid being accused of trying to stifle it, however it is starting to descend into what usually happens when T/W ideas get discussed on here with T/W getting unwarrented remarks.
For the record while me and Barrie have had our “moments” in the past, I do believe the man is honest, sincere and genuinely trying to find a way to make the price of the DCPC as cheap as possible.
It is upto Barrie to decide what price he can offer it for, I dont know his business model or financial projections for this. that is his business and the place to discuss them is on his website, not here.
If this request to take the discussion on the practicalities of his idea and costs to his website is ignored or if the insults thrown in either direction continue I will regretfully lock this thread.

before this thread gets locked barrie has not yet disclosed how he intends this to work…
so eveerything you have said is pure speculation
so untill he has disclosed all the details , i would keep shtum and ask him directly over on truckersworld.
Indeed do discuss it over on his site but beware,if you dare to say anything he doesn’t like then be prepared for it to get deleted along with your account.

Yes that is the problem. So many of us are banned on that site (myself included) that it is impossible to discuss it there so I think Rikki should do the decent thing and allow discussion here where there is much greater allowance of free speech. And anyway Rikki, I don’t see any problem with the discussion thus far in this thread. It has remained on topic with a healthy debate from the ‘fors’ and ‘aganists’. Is Barrie definitely banned? Wasn’t that ago “Bazman” was posting here iirc ? ?

As I said I do not wish this to become a TW vs T/N thing, If your banned on T/W for whatever reason it is non of our business. the LDF have offered to step in and allow both sides free reign on there forum if needed …
I STRONGLY suggest that either of those sites are used and not this one
be aware for those of a nervous disposition … the members on the LDF bite, if your easily offended perhaps give it a miss, or have a strong drink before visiting

I cannot possibly imagine what you mean ? the LDF is full of poor lost souls resembling a flock of sheep completely harmless to normal people
I myself am preparing to deliver the DCPC course, its a long drawn out process which needs various qualifications, just the booking of a course is enough to make you pull your hair out , trainers need to pay £36 up front for each candidtate before the course is even approved, that along with everything else, I am interested to know just how their going to pull it off because its certainly not a course you can do by distance learning again for various legal reasons.

Are you certain?
I thought each course, not each candidate, had a JAUPT fee …

Hi Jon,
My guess is that it’s a typo.
I’ve taught DCPC (booked against ADR courses) ever since it came out, which is now over 1,000 hours and I’ve never heard of a candidate fee either… apart from the upload fee of course.
