You require a Labotomy! If you don’t think that’s a good deal! Any small profit made will be set aside for drivers who don’t have any means to start or complete the courses!
To help a fellow driver who has to fund themselves!
its a great deal Dessy, its just the way its implemented !!!
What’s wrong with how it’s implemented Mike? You said it yourself! It’s here to stay so! Let’s do it as cheap as possible for all! As it’s of no benefit in terms of training for Most drivers! At least it’s not a skank!
dessy:
Just been over to confirm! It’s £20+£8.75 upload fee for each 7 hours completed! £143.75 for the full 35 hours! Can get cheaper depends on the number of drivers attending each 7 hour session!
To confirm take a look at TW site!
Dessy, just been on the site and read the thread, currently the way I read it is that:
1 he’s guaging(sp) numbers
2 Nothing has been arranged yet
So nothing has been sorted yet.
I am not denying that its a good deal, but until its in action at the price stated, alot of people will be wary

Nothing to be wary of! Show interest and get it off the ground!

I would be somewhat interested if I was looking to do it, but only to fill the gap between the adr and the 35hrs, as if I was going to do the DCPC I would look for some gain first. But at the minute I’m hopeing to never have to do it.
Also the site has tried to organise things in the past and it hasn’t come off, alot of people will only sign up when its actually in action. Thats not a slate at the site either, just the way alot of people will approach this.
If he belives he can do it at that price, then he should just go for it, simples. Once its avaiable at the price stated more people will come forward than when its all hypothetical

If drivers stop questioning whether it’ll become a reality and put their money where their traps are then it will become the very reality that they are questioning. FFS

But then there is a Catch 22 situation. If too many people are wary then it isn’t going to get off the ground.

This is a lot different to the pie in the sky protests and conferences, this is something people actually want whereas the other things they clearly did not.
I have read some the posts on here with disbelief, the fella on TW from all accounts is genuine and all some on here do is to question his integrity. i am totally against the dcpc as a tax on my right to work, but the attitudes of some drivers explains why drivers get shafted every time. if we could have stuck together on this issue we could have made them rethink this nonsense, but already drivers are accepting this crap as inevitable.
as far as i can see the tw site is the only site actually trying to resist this nonsense. any driver who boasts about having the dcpc in its present form will be a laughing stock when people realise whats involved in getting this professional qualification, good luck to tw for trying to help its members even though the site is opposed to the dcpc. i wonder if anyone will offer it cheaper?? it is understandable that some people will have no option as they need a job.

Nah, they are all going to hang their keys up. Same as what happened when the tachograph came into being and again when digi tacho cards were required.
Henrys cat:
Coffee, I think people are wary because of the source more than anything else.
If the course was offered at £100, I don’t think it would be short of takers. But at the minute its all talk as per usual
I’m amazed at your attitude towards Bazman! What’s your problem with Barrie then?
+1.
Like I’ve previously said in this thread, I don’t often agree with him, but there’s no doubting he’s a genuine bloke with very good intentions. If I needed a DCPC myself, he would already have my money. Henry Cat I think it’s out of order for you to doubt his integrity unless you actually have some evidence to support it.

Well said Coffee! As there is No support from the few drivers who are online! The inevitable looks likely so ! How to stop the Trainers ripping off drivers in the future? Let’s do it at cost price and if any small profit use it to help a driver who may not have the funds available immediately to complete the course! Everyone needs knowledge! But as things are planned for the future! Cost to us! The drivers is going to increase year on year! This Dcpc crap is required every 5 years so think how much money it’s gonna cost in the next 5 years!

Rob, I have no evidence at all, just stating my mind simple as that. If its such the no brainer everyone is saying then get on with it. As I said if it was an actual offer with the course date I don’t think there would be any problem filling the courses and recouping the money.
As it is guaranteed that you’ll be reading this thread Barrie, why don’t you come here and post your breakdown of costs post here so that those that are questioning them can see your train of thought? Also as you are wanting a minimum number of drivers in order for it to happen, it is in your interests to have a presence on other trucker forums . It’s alright Rikki saying that discussion should be kept on your site, but seeing as half of the TN members are banned on your site for various reasons, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to allow cross posting on this occasion.

Rikki wants it kept to the TW site, so that’s where it should be kept. I have already said that I would pay £100 plus upload fee, seems a good price to me. If somebody makes a profit - I don’t care! I’ve saved money

But you’re not seeing the bigger picture. You know as well as I do that Barrie’s bright (and not-so-bright) ideas usually receive great support in the initial stages with everyone saying “yes, count me in, I’ll be there” etc etc, but then as the event/occasion/whatever draws closer the excuses start - “won’t be able to make it, will be in Tenerife… I’m on nights that week… my OH is in hospital” etc etc.
For the DCPC to be uber-cheapness Barrie needs the money up front. If he does it the other way round and puts his £2500 down to secure it, you can just see the above happening once again and Barrie ends up £2500 out of pocket. No-one else will care about it because it’s not their money that they’re losing.
People need to engage their brains and realise that you don’t anything out if you don’t put anything in. If you want the full DCPC ticket for peanuts then you need to get to the ATM, get your £100 out and get it to Barrie asap, OR… sit at home moaning about it and pay £400 instead. I strongly suspect the latter will happen because as I keep saying, the vast majority of truck drivers are thick as ■■■■ and still couldn’t see a good thing if someone slapped them round the chops with it.
He’s not asking for money yet Rob (whether that’s a good idea or not is open to debate) But when he wants it, he’ll get a cheque from my wife Or Paypal from me, whichever is better for him. ■■■■, I’ll even offer to train up as a trainer, and do it for expenses if it’ll help him…
But Rob, the other providers have done just that, put their money in without knowing wether they will get a return or not. Yes some are established training companies, but also some are one man bands who are trying to make a living.
