who the [zb] are you to call us renegades because we dont agree with this [zb] that will line your pockets!!
Do you see where I say i am doing this? If so please point it out
You cant, because i am not, I looked into it and decided on purely business reasons not to.
I call " renegades" because this group while crying about it actively promotes one of the most expensive courses there is, because they in an effort to get attention give an unrealistic unworkable price structure for thier “alternative” DCPC. and finally becasue they want to march on parliament to repeal the dcpc but not even 10% of their own groups members are willing to support them
Renegades, mavericks, idealists what term would you realsticaly use… I know the one I am thinking of and its not on that list
no you decide not to because not enough of us will pay you £130 per session for you to teach us ■■■■ all.
you stated that for £130 per session you could supply a lorry and show me how to drive it in an economical manner and best use its features-why would i need that sort of training when i have been driving for so long-my point being it is just so unneccesary- i have managed without any proffesional training since i passed my test-perhaps its the fact that most of us could teach you a few things, not the other way round that we resent all this ■■■■■■■■?
Does anyone else get the feeling that FH12Guy is actually a regular here but using an old username to hide behind? Why the sudden flurry of activity now having posted basically nothing in the 5 years he’s been a member here. Fishy much? Maybe admin could do some IP comparing…

Upload cost
Buying or writing/getting a course approved
Registration of trainer/s
Registration of training centre
Provision of teaching materials
Wages for the trainer/s
etc etc
Not forgetting
public liability insurance
rent of classroom space
Upload fee
travel costs for trainers
Accountants fees, (because of course you will declare this income to HMRC)
Advertising fees ( to be any where near this figure you are going to have to lecture too 100’s of drivers, and you got to find and tell them)
Anyone who thinks this can be done for £100 for 35 hours is living in cloud cuckoo land - but have a go and invest the money a few drivers may get a cheap DCPC out of it before you go bankrupt
I refer you all to the comments in the press, and the aviation industry when Freddie Laker started Skytrain £99 london to New york. everybody said it couldn’t be done, and yet he did it, and the only reason he is not still doing it, is that the rest of the industry woke up and started charging realistic prices. I hate Ryanair, only use them if the only other way to get somewhere is to walk, but when they started they managed to cut costs successfully. 99p london to dublin? well of course they cut corners legally, and reduced costs, and I am sure barrie has found a way of doing this. If it;s £20 per 7 hours, plus bring your own sandwiches, welll still makes it cheap!
p.s.
Yes I know Ryan air are now rippoff merchants, charging £1.50 for a mars bar, and planning to make us all stand up to fly and pay to pee, but you can still get a bargain if you are prepared to take whats offered.

But it’s not been done for £100 is it?
There will Always be a minimum number of people required to participate, I am saying 12 people, in reality it is probably 20 or 30 people which changes the £100 to an actual figure of £2000 or £3,000 respectively.
Lets face it, there are 1,000’s of drivers out there that need the course so filling spaces in a classroom shouldn’t be too difficult.
To be fair Davey, that’s exactly what the OP and the site/person in question IS touting !!!
I am blind as I haven’t been on t’other side but gleaned some insight from here. Let me get this right. We are able to get a DCPC for £100, (with or without upload fees)
School Classroom during school holidays or possibly weekends.
There are dozens of decent trainers who already have petals who could make a good living at £10 per person. 33 to a class, 330 quid for 7 hours work. 5 sessions of 7hrs over 5 years, or in this case just over 3 years to September 2014
I haven’t seen anything in JAUPT that would prevent those 33 pupils forming into 11 groups of 3, or 3 groups of 11etc and learn the black art that way, it could be a more interesting way to learn, more ■■■■■■■■■■ and shared knowledge. The best trainer in the world will not know everything, only the stuff that is legislation or that they have come across.
Lets go further, introduce a bit of competition into the programme, fuel economy rankings, tachograph knowledge, employment law and first aid demonstrations. I really think a basic maintenance course should be included, if only to explain the workings of things like brakes, clutches and coupling devices.
I have seen several continental training rooms who have a rogues gallery, wheels with elongated stud holes, brake shoes down beyond rivets and eating into the shoe, broken springs and engines which should be easily diagnosed by the driver. One particular company has a fully working brake system model which you can operate and see what does what, when, and why…
Lets go large and hire a football stadium and 3000 drivers do 7 hours in groups with various interesting industry trainers.
For £100 i really couldnt give a rats arse about the quality of the training. I just need that DCPC ticket to enable be to carry on driving (if I choose) after 2014. If I could id rather just bung 100 sovs in a brown envelope and the trainer can just give me my ticket.
As it stands at the moment the DCPC is bo locks and nothing more than a money making scheme.
Oh and BTW if your company pays for your DCPC then feel youself lucky because a lot of the smaller hauliers are refusing to pay for our courses and we the driver will have to pay for it ourselfs.

2 Not just Europe mate, I’ve seen the same set up in many other places. That is the kind of training ALL drivers should be doing at the beginning with periodic updating as technologies change. I remember an article, in Headlight I think, yonks ago about RH Stevens and how since they’d introduced a policy of all new drivers, regardless of experience, having to spend 2 days in the garage before hitting the road wear and tear had decreased as had breakdowns. Did you ever go for a Euro job and not get asked “if you can change filters” Perhaps in the old days we just trained ourselves and each other then got on with the job ■■

I was never asked, they just expected it of a driver, they expected we were already trained like their own

i can honestly say if i had to pay for it i wouldnt, not if the content is how to drop, pick up a tri, when to put the dog clip on,why you must run at all times with mid-lift down, why company says you must have breaks on bays etc, etc, how tesco want you to do the job again.
did i learn anything ,honestly ,no.
to pay for it i want to learn things, new things, not just keep going over old things, how many more times do i really need to be shown how to get in/out of a cab
I too thought that was top quality but due to the fact that my views on the subject are different to the sites owner i cannot post as ive been banned!!
Just to stick my oar in, is the DCPC going to tell me how to strap down 125 drums of frozen orange juice in 45 gall drums, so as not to upset the BAG when they stop me in Germany, or how to restrain 24 pallets of empty cans, which the manufacturer says I cannot restrain because I might damage the profile of the cans, or how to tie down 20 pallets of Solar Panels, which the supplier says I cannot strap because they are glass and I might damage them. However way we look at this DCPC, it is ill thought out by a beaurocrat (spelling) who only thinks trucks are big smelly things that should not be here and if they are, lets make them and the drivers pay for the privelige.(spelling) It is basically a money earning scam that brings no real training to anyone. I have been driving artics in UK and Europe for more than 35 years and the DCPC will not teach me anything about securing and delivering his product, so why is it relevant. I would rather attend a course on squirrel ■■■■■■■ in the boondocks(bring your own sellotape)

DCPC won’t cure any of this mate, you already know it. You already know what you have to do, you just aint doing it !!! So with all your 35 years experience you still aint able to secure a load !!!
You require a Labotomy! If you don’t think that’s a good deal! Any small profit made will be set aside for drivers who don’t have any means to start or complete the courses!
To help a fellow driver who has to fund themselves!

its a great deal Dessy, its just the way its implemented !!!
Just been over to confirm! It’s £20+£8.75 upload fee for each 7 hours completed! £143.75 for the full 35 hours! Can get cheaper depends on the number of drivers attending each 7 hour session!
To confirm take a look at TW site!
