And breath…
So 3 more sleeps till the Steelboys hit Cirencester prior to the run up to Gaydon.
This year the lays will be running in a Volvo cavalcade format into the arena and parking up a line up from first volvo in uk to the latest model to celebrate the 200,000 the volvo being registered in the UK, so get your cameras ready around 3.30/4.00pm the lads , and girls (sorry) will then park up on the concourse until @ 5 pm before final park up in the all new steel zone “up top” as lance would say

Looking forward to another fantastic show weekend

Tetragaz You cant really tell me much about wheelchairs I have been shoving one for approx.23yrs. I was in no way talking about access etc. in the tent my comments were purely about the atmosphere of the modellers in the tent and in the 4or5yrs I was there it was good. Eddie.
Gaz has got 25 years of pushing under his belt Eddie, and I have got 43 years. Didn’t realise that you were in the same boat.
Cheers Dave.
Aye Dave I am not in the chair I am the engine at the back its our Daughter is the user. It’s better when she can use the scooter I am getting to old for shoving her about now. Eddie.

I see what you mean Eddie, it ain’t easy, but like me and Gaz, you are still pushing big wheels, which is better than pushing up daises.
Cheers Dave.

I apologise eddie I ment no disrespect, everything changes in time, we were a lot smaller group of people at rugby but with the help & hard work of Ash, Peter & TMW it had to move to a bigger & better venue along with the classic truck show.
thanks dave
cheers

Didn’t think you were attending. Glad you are
Nae problem Gaz. Regards Eddie.
I can’t comment on the shows at Rugby as I have only displayed models at Gaydon. I do agree with a few points Eddie made regarding the atmosphere in the hall. The first time I went down opened my eyes to another side of model building, there are guys who only build one model a year with the aim of winning prizes with it. This creates a tension which can be felt in the hall, in my opinion competition creates this. I thought model building was a hobby. There may well have been competition at Rugby but it may not have been as serious.
Regarding the model show, I think Ash and his team do a fantastic job but I bet it would be so much easier without the trophy ceremony. I personally prefer to display in the other side of the wall with the Road Transport Modelers, it is more relaxed and my older models are better suited there which leads to the points raised earlier being the way forward. I enjoy both the older lorries and also the more recent Steel boys motors, I fit in the 70’s and 80’s era so the way the show is at the moment is perfect for me.
Looking forward to another fantastic show both inside and out.
Hi All,
Having been part of the contributors and helpers of the Rugby and Gaydon show I think it was just as competitive at Rugby but with all the same old faces winning the prizes, now the show is widely open for anyone who builds a good model (one per year or not) to win. People who have won best in show can not re-enter in future years, this was something I think Ashley put right. As for the atmosphere, people always like to chat and find out what product they used for this, how they did that etc, I don’t think that has changed. I will say I am glad of the dry space at Gaydon and the ease of setting up and packing away nowadays and that the show is now Two days not One rushed one.Well keep up the good work Ashley and all you helpers, sorry I can’t be there this year as I now live in North Cyprus and can,t make it due to work issues, may be next year.
Paul
Nice to see the modellers have the same issues as the people with the bigger toys.
Some of us just turn up for a bit of banter (and a beer if it’s on all weekend) but there’s always people who send their wagons to the paint shop before big shows or win prizes for vehicles that may look immacluate but haven’t seen a tax disc for years. It’s each to their own I guess?
Quite often a wagon with a working look to it can attract more attention than blinged up stuff.

Most definitely!
This Atkinson was always a favourite but I haven’t seen it for a year or two now

Is the working F88 there this year? I’ve decided to give it a miss this year; Going on holiday tomorrow and thefollowing week is Banbury Rally, so I thought I’d save a few quid.
