It’s interesting when people make excuses for not eating well or cooking for themselves. In my opinion what you eat is probably the most important decision you make on a daily basis. Your health should be your priority. And the best was to do this is cookfor yourself. Now I’ve come off road I make packed lunches to take with me. Things like full fry ups from cafes (you can so easily make a fairly healthy version yourself) or McD/BK/KFC should really be a rare ‘treat’ (KFC three piece variety meal is my treat!). Rare as in once a month or less. Even one a week is too much. Diets never work, you need to change habits and break links. Once you get into the swing of it you’ll feel much better

The food at route 74 truckstop at lesmahagow is spot on.Been in a couple of times all was freshly done and the price is good aswell. The place is spotless.

Yeah been in there twice myself since the new place has gone up and I agree. The cafe has a restaurant feel about it and not a truckers cafe.

Red Moss M74 Junction 13, take B7078 north for exactly 4 miles Red Moss on the left. is small but definitely a good one, food is good, they have a bar. and there’s a decent clean /hot shower and the prices ain’t bad , isn’t open in the day though but £10.00 for overnight /free shower ain’t that bad

Dave the Renegade:
Prees Heath A41/A49 Shropshire.

Midway Truckstop.

Lynn,s Raven Truckstop.

Both old established Cafes with plenty choice at reasonable prices.

I have only eaten in lynn’s cafe, but was good food, the place is also popular with bikers in the day time, but looking around you got a choice of two cafes a indian and a pub all within a few 100mtrs of each other

I have heard it is very good and new and clean in there; but what ells I have been told in person is that the place is a rip off.
Would anyone ells like to back the £10.00 over night parking charge up please

But it is good to see so many poster on hear say the best place to eat is in your cab.
So screw the truck stops and motorway services; leave them for the muppits

My first night at he truck stop £2.50 for a cup of tea oil with a dash of chips, pineapple, peas, 2 yes 2 big gammon steaks cauliflower cheese and bread and tbh it was one of the best meals I ever had.
And dessert

Tea oil. I preferred to call it oil tea. Same thing but ratios different in some truck stops.

Salt box

All good

A colleague of mine was doing some driver trianing at the weekend on the East Coast and apparenlty the firm he was doing the training with, buy the drivers a healthy packed lunch everyday. Seems a good idea to me.

Stibbington too is quite good and open all night (in the week)

Its a shame really because with a make over and new owners etc markham could be bang on ,the building and parking space are big enough and its in a good place, kates kabin is still the exact same as when i went with my dad in the 80s in the school holidays ,i bet the cakes and buns at the counter are the same uns

It was actually a ‘meal’ at Markham Moor that prompted me to start this thread. It was disgusting. I could saw through the roast potatoes, and it was EITHER soggy carrots or brown cabbage to accompany it. Had a breakfast there the next morning too which cost a fortune and was also crap. Avoid this place at all costs.
