China reported an 48 new cases, and that’s just the ones they’re reporting, interesting article in today’s Times saying China should foot the bill for the damage they have caused through their mis information and lies.

Once again, the irony…
Even serious situations can give us all a laugh.
The image of Boris Johnson calling someone out for lies and mis-information!

Unless Boris is writing under the alias of Dr Azeem Ibrahim and working part time at the Centre for Global Policy, Washington DC in between being PM then it’s possible it could be him, said it before and I’ll say it again don’t let your hatred of Boris cloud your judgement when someone has a different view to you. Talking of irony you believe the Chinese media over press in the free world, look at how many foreign journalists they have kicked out or put restrictions on, whatever politicians are in charge in the west at least we have a powerful press to hold them to account

He could always take his cue from you … How many miles of fencing has Trump built?

And there’s you - with that all-important ‘delicate’ grasp on English words.

I invite you to read my post again, and please point out any errors I have made.
I hope to be able to correct them.

Unlike our esteemed PM who chose to behave. …as he does… when his misleading use of statistics was called put in an unprecedented intervention by Sir David Norgrove.

Hatred?
Really?
I have on many occasions pointed out the faults of Johnson. (An easy task) When have I expressed any hatred for the man?
.
Pointing out the clear flaws in the Chinese and other systems makes no difference I can see to Johnson’s honesty?

Don’t think the UK government is alone in being furious with China, it’s quite obvious that no matter what this government does to you it will be wrong well you’re an even smaller minority now as his governments approval rating has gone up during this crisis but I’m sure you heard that on the Today programme this morning.

Not sure how anyone can defend any of Boris Johnson’s handling of this. I see they even have him supposedly ill now so he doesn’t embarrass himself/ his government any more at the press briefings…

Cue the clown and the rest of the Boris Johnson fans to put me right… :unamused:

Let me indulge you!

A long long time ago, there were some nasty people fighting with some nice men, the nice men built a massive village where they could look after their own soldiers and the enemy soldiers, they had to feed these people so they developed a huge farm with pigs, ducks, chickens, sheep wandering in and out of the village, there were 100,000 people visiting this village every day and many had disease, got ill and died. the social media of the day lied about this village and others like it, these diseases were unheard of outside of the village.

One day the king of a far off country caught this disease and almost died, they named the disease after his country, all the other countries blame this one country for spreading disease while saying their own own countries were safe.

  1. it was a lie. H1N1 was a virus
  2. it did happen and killed over fifty million and made five hundred million people ill. many were young fit men, maybe not so fit as they were malnourished, sleeping in wet conditions and tired.
  3. The place: Etables France 1917

Germany. Great Britain. North America. Canada. Australia. New Zealand. France and India hid this disease from their own people to keep up morale, it was only Spain who told of the death of their King in 1941 and it became known as the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918 - 1920

Spain were not in the first world war, but they were fighting in North Africa immediately afterwards, 25% of the Spanish population caught the virus.

So who is lying now? Trump Certainly. Italy are probably being truthful about the numbers. Are we?

All governments lie Blair being a prime example but in democracies where there is a free and inquisitive press it is harder for them to get away with it for a prolonged period of time in the likes of China and Russia etc the lying is usually assisted by a state run press and people who ask too many questions find themselves imprisoned or worse.

No. I has previously read of western governments being upset at the apparent inconsistencies on the Chinese figures* and calling them out. The irony of those Governments (note in my post I said “Johnson, for instance”) with their own dubious relationship with truth, facts and figures did, and still does, strike me as “ironic”, at the very least.
.
Edit to add:
The article says “The Johnson Government”, no matter whose mouth it come out of, the message is shared by him .

So are the UK government no longer allowed to share opinions that they agree with?

If you want to argue about the ups and downs of this Government then, carry on.
This Government pointing fingers at anyone regarding honesty and lies is IMHO ironic, in the extreme.

290,000 deaths worldwide last year with flu.

29000 to date so far with this virus.

Lets see how the figures compare when its all over.

■■■■ right…

I wonder when the most important questions will be asked.

  1. Why has the source of this not been properly investigated?
  2. Why is a virus that is no more deadly than influenza being treated with such paranoia?

STAY . AT . HOME . :unamused:

I saw that the bloke who used to shout “Stop Brexit” is being redeployed by the BBC to shout “Stop Covid-19” once he has learnt his lines.

Boris said, “lets get Brexit Done!”

Next!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Remember back at the turn of the century, we had a majority Labour government, things looked like on the up, and Labour went on to win a increased majority in an election called a year early in 2001 by Blair?

Fast foward a year beyond that - and the sky basically fell on our heads - didn’t it?

9/11, the War on Terror, the Airport lockdowns, the Fuel surcharges, the other proxy wars…

How many are now thinking that we got an election in December “Out of the blue” - simply because what was coming over the horizon at that point - was too scary to contemplate facing up to with this ongoing hung parliament situation that we had?

…NHS workers going on Strike, Unite, Unison, and Extinction Rebellion blocking our streets, spreading Covid-19 like it was an intentional bio-weapon…
The authorities - never wanted to do anything to clear up Anti-Brexit protestors, but quietly stamped on anyone perceived as being “Far Right”…

NOW here we are, about to lose ALL of our public rights beyond the fears that the very hardest of Brexits or Remaining would achieve - and no one gets to bat an eyelid, because we’re not allowed out to so much as “keep our kids amused” any longer!!

Boris Johnson - would appear to want his time in the sun for a full parliamentary term - and then he’s gone, I suspect.
He’ll step aside for someone like “Tory Socialist” Sunak, who may or may not win the 2024 general election against Keir Starmer…

We might even be so sick of “Britnitz” by that point (as opposed to “Brexit”) - that Keir Starmer could run on a platform to Re-Join the EU, and actually exepct to win the election on the back of that!!
FFS if Creepy Joe can now be neck-and-neck in the betting to be President come November - ANYTHING is possible…

…Unless we Brexiteers make sure there is no EU left to re-join by that point, of course… :smiling_imp:

So do you think the article has a valid point or not? Or that if reparations are paid because Johnson is a liar then the UK shouldn’t take them. The article is not about whether he is or is not a fit PM it’s about the country that caused the outbreak making things worse and in the long run likely to profit from it should get away scott free. But because Johnson is divisive people will cut off their noses to spite their faces, the financial package put in place is one of the best in the world. I am not entitled to it the one I am entitled to does not compare and I will only get that if my boss can afford to pay the top up between what the government is offering and my wages are, if he can’t afford that I get the dole, yes the UK package has flaws but it was pushed through in record time so bound not to be 100%.
Mistakes have been made but not all down to the government Public Health England were being criticized yesterday for the way they have handled this governments of all colours have to rely on information given to them before they can act and several institutions were also slow on the uptake

Mazzer2:
Don’t think the UK government is alone in being furious with China,

‘Furious’ in the sense that Chamberlain was ‘furious’ with Hitler in 1938.( Iron fist in velvet glove ).
The Americans don’t usually take kindly to taking mass casualties in their own back yard caused by aggressive Orientals.Especially even an accidental release of a WMD which these Commy savages had stated an intent to use on them previously.China has now gone into desperate damage limitation in an attempt to get out of what the US military is probably planning right now as its response.

I think everything we’re being told about this pathogen is bs.We can’t hide from a weaponised virus and why would we need to hide from it when they are telling us that we recover from it after catching it resulting in future immunity.Yeah right.

Commy retards are suddenly just realising it could now ( hopefully ) be a case of whoops apocalypse ( for zb China ).Bearing in mind that the US might still also be thinking about payback over Vietnam.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1…because every year theres a flue type epi/pandemic comes out of china due to the disgusting unhygenic conditions the rabble that live there think is normal life, hence theres absolutely no point as nothing will get done about it.

2…as every year passes theres more mumsnet/lefty/entitled/facebook/twitter/humanitarian/vegetarian complete and utter snowflake fannys over reacting to the slightest thing.

it isnt of any media hype interest unless it has a hook.i.e,
