Got a hamper from company, which had a bottle of Red & White wine, not cheap stuff either, 3 bottles of special ale, xmas pudding & Large box of chocs & 11 days off, as factory closes, so no deliveries for us, back on 2nd Jan with an easy run, 2 drops Birmingham!!
Great company to work for, actually appreciated by the bosses here.
My Xmas tip , don’t dip your ■■■■ in beef gravy then wave it in front on a pit bull , HTH .
At Tilcon we used to get our safe driving bonus at Christmas, £20 I seem to recall but we were taxed on it and lost part of it if we had a knock, even if it wasn’t our fault. My last firm always gave me something eatable though.
Pete.
Got £1.38 from a customer, think he couldnt be bothered to look for correct money that he had to pay, so gave me that as a christmas present.
This is as it was handed to me:
A torn Tesco carrier bag containing 4 cans of Fosters.
The staff in the warehouse got an extra day off, a meal and evening out all paid for and an average bonus of about £500 each. Our planners and managers all got the above plus cash bonuses and a crate of local beer (24 bottles) from a brewery we haul for, and a box of Roses each.
The other 9 drivers all got the same as me. Although to be fair I think one of the lads got a bag without a rip in it.
Who says drivers are at the bottom of the tree eh!?
■■■■ all. Not even a free copy of our glorious christmas record…
Nothing but pay my tax bill in january Lol
Did give the lads £150
The ones who have shipped out for xmas £300
Thats on top of wages etc
Oh and they get to keep there jobs in january lol
i got bugger all other staff members got m&s vouchers but where i only started new job in august i was not entitled to anything which suits me fine spent last few years getting naff all so another year aint gonna make me disapointed
£100 extra in this weeks wages and we get taken out for a meal (partners aswell) in January.
got paid £100 less than i’m owed!! (although this will be sorted monday lol) got ■■■■ all for christmas,my old boss used to give us all £200 cash every christmas, makes a big difference …
Powelly:
£10 tip last week and a tin of heroes and a tin of biccies brought out wrapped on a pallet for me from a regular customer I collect from daily, This time of year makes me realise some people do give a crap about us! No talk of any sort of payrise though but we have got a free bar on New Year’s Eve at our do! Would rather a pay rise tbh lol
Simple, ask the barmaid to give you the money rather than the drink
I had a result, $1385 safety bonus, $100 cheque & a $100 gift card to a rather nifty steakhouse, We get the safety thing 3 times a year but they give you this one with your last cheque of the year…

90 days notice and a letter saying that we go into a consultation period in January with regard to closure of where I work at the end of MarchAnnouncement was made on 13.12 2013. We did ask them why they couldn’t have waited until the New Year before telling us and wrecking everyones Christmas
Financial year end is 31st December. Something to tell the share holders.
Possibility of transfer to another site might be on the cards but if not job hunting end of Feb onwards.
A Mayan are we?
Fingers on the wrong keys. Well spotted, should have been 13.12.2012. Thanks for pointing that out
Sorry for the cheap quip.
It’s [zb] news mate, hope you land on your feet. My brother in law has just been told that he’s not required in after xmas too, got a bit of a redundancy package but that won’t last long will it.
Don’t worry Wayned, I thought is was funny I don’'t mind loosing the job possibly, it’s just the way it has been done just before Christmas
I have got C + E, D + E both manual and have finished my DCPC card. The first question most companies ask now is how many hours have you got left to do towards your CPC Nice feeling when you say that you already have got it. I have already made a few enquiries and have started send out CV’s. Will do more of it after Christmas.

Completed all my dCPC hours in April 2011, did adr in feb this year, got manual coach licence and C+E, and was still an agency driver for most of this year…
Apply for EVERYTHING mate, it’s not as easy as you think it’s going to be or as easy as it should be. To be honest, I think some places want you to still need some 14 - 21hrs of dCPC training so they can train you and tie you in with a bond with an expensive training course that they’ve probably had a grant to give you anyway… But maybe I’m just cynical
Don’t wait for a job to be advertised, i always apply to companies before they know they need a driver and it’s always worked for me
Not a thing … NOT EVEN A HAPPY XMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ON A PAYSLIP … hence the bad back on the last friday shift
nsmith1180:
Literally at the same time:Left hand - Tin of Heros
Right hand - Letter confirming the date of my redundancy
They do know how to take the fun out of these things.
I’d have given them the Hereos back and told them to poke them up their arse.
i’ve had about £200, two boxes of roses, two quality street, 1 box of whisky fudge, some belgium chocolates, 12 fosters, 12 boddingtons, 6 carlesbourg.
one bloke offered me a whisky at 10.05 am. it didn’t seem to matter that i was the driver.
£50 cash from weekday job as we got a rush job out on time by Friday afternoon and a office buffet at lunch with one can of beer! So a lot better than a kick in the teeth, plus a local job on my return for three weeks in January!
Earned over £55 cash (over £110 as it was always shared with porter) I think it was £58.20 if I remember rightly in tips over the first three Saturdays in December doing my multi-drop on Saturday, which I was never expecting but it was a great incentive to keep handballing at properties and being polite. Good job I am a cab happy [zb] on this work
However no tips on this Saturday at all, bar don’t trust the porter when he has three different postcodes to pick from for one drop and won’t use the telephone to ask the office where we were actually going. You’ll end up going to the wrong store, fully unload and then be told by the store when they check the paperwork this isn’t for us, you want so and so store 20 miles up the road!
Good times glad I am paid by the hour Peeved off porter on salary then complains for next three drops (3 hours
) we are going to be at least 30 minutes late back to depot etc, etc. We was last ones back as predicted by the run sheet at the beginning of the shift and we was only half an hour late to schedule. Great day out in my book (seeing flood plains doing their roles in East Anglia), also don’t see what the problem is once you have made the mistake there is nothing you can do to rectify it, what’s done is done!!!
Got a thank you off the TM for hard work since I’ve started there and not whinging about the zb runs I get given. I don’t have the heart to tell him I don’t give a zb as long as the pounds keep going in the bank I’ll be there 15 hours every Saturday if they want and won’t bat an eyelid But no bottles, cans, cards, notes, coins, goods to sell
etc.
My Christmas bonus for this role is for it to still be open from this Saturday and into the winter lull next year and I’ll be chuffed then on these wages and getting my experience back! Still hate zbing trunk runs though with a passion! Remembered hating them 7 years ago and still do, oh dear going to have to limit my job roles down in the near future when my change comes.

What do you mean by porter, second man?
