Careers before truck driving

Maintenance fitter for 25 years at Seaforth docks, made redundant in 2005 then HGV driver until a few weeks ago, just started up my own mobile alloy wheel repair company but still driving for agency a couple of days a week until business picks up :smiley:, so if anyone wants their wheels refurbing give us a shout

Was happiest truck driving and I miss it lots, so I’ll go back to it when the kids are older. 11 years to push :unamused:

Spot on! My first career was as a boy too - did it for donkey’s years: free board and lodging but almost no salary (that’s where the paper round came in handy!).

I was a teacher / then head-teacher before I ran off on the lorries.
After a decade or so, I returned to head-teaching, but overseas.
Now retired which basically means I’m a boy again but I have to look after myself and dress up to look old so that they’ll let me in the pub. Robert :laughing:

Professional musician/music teacher for 25 years. Some van driving jobs before and after college. Still do the occasional trombone gig but not much these days. A short stint with my own IT company but always wanted to drive so here I am :wink:

Swimming pool lifeguard, raf 10 years, local radio technical person, hgv driver, aviation security, aircraft refuller, hgv driver

Left school and joined the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer Mechanic, pushed up to leading engineering technician and did the RN commando course…you know, for kicks!

After the RN I went to a chemical company as a Production and Development technician.

Now I’m 5 years a class 1 driver and currently in Norwich (born in Hartlepool, brought up in Both Hartlepool and Billingham) driving a bulk cement tanker.

Still looking for that perfect job!
