Laborer on a building site (hated this job with a vengeance)
Forklift driver (was taken on as a machine operator but they needed a forkie, so right place right time)
Van driver (the dreaded white van man on parcels)
7.5t driver (same as above but now delivered pallets too)
Class 2 Tramping
Taxi driver (2 & 1/2 yr stint whilst son was a baby, didn’t want to be away from home)
Back on the Class 2’s
Class 1 Tramping
Carer for my Wife (aka - cleaner, shopping technician & school run driver)
Class 1 nights (in the next few weeks if all goes well)

Think there might be a driving theme going on here :neutral_face:

Field service engineer (Electronics) for garage equipment co.,
C, then C+E lorry driver UK,
Lorry driver EU,
Agent du Quai (lorry loader/unloader specialist furniture transport co),
Property maintenance and swimming pools
now Tipper driver and excavator in quarry/clay pit,
next job? Retirement probably but still got a few years to go :slight_smile:

Welder for 8 years it gets very boring looking through a glass screen all day staring at a green light! Then euro van driver (great job ■■■■ money) now I’m a class 2 tipper driver, start at 6 finish at 4! Happy days!

Left school at 15,did 6 years on farm work ,got class 1,driver for 36 years and counting. By the way am I the only one on here that’s done farm work ,I thought every one worked on a farm at sometime :laughing:

I worked on the farms, sort of, mid 70s, all the farmers were changing from churns to bulk tanks, (apprentice electrician at the time), hated it! smelly, pulling cables into conduits covered in cow ■■■, I worked on a lot of farms kind of!!

Firefighter, and did this on the side, until I realised I enjoyed this more. Now on a career break from the fire service, and trundling around Europe.

The state of the modern fire service is one of the main reasons I preferred driving. I highly doubt I’ll go back once my leave of absence ends, the fact that I’m on more money now helps too :slight_smile:

Auto work shop, ware house forklift " looking back that was happiest time ", wholesale shop, farm work, warehouse again, Royal Mail, van driving, landscaping, furniture sales, catering whole sale supplying. Tame race car driver for some t.v show… :wink:

Farmworker,Dry stone waller,class 1 driver,back to dry stone for a while,driving ever since,still do a bit of dry stone in my spare time,good exercise

Infantry soldier, 1 Royal Anglian “The Vikings” enjoyed my time but never regret leaving. Love being on the road and wouldn’t want to do anything else.

butcher from leaving school till JH Dewhurst put me thro my car/van driving test i then delivered meat in J4/sherpa /beford van and 7.5tonner then they closed Cardiff depot :frowning: and i took my class 1 hgv and with a bit of luck became a lorry driver

one year on YTS as trainee car mechanic
one year sales at carpet warehouse
Three and a half years as hgv mechanic
Seven years as tipper driver out of quarry
Four years as tradeplater delivering trucks
Over fourteen years wasted class 1 driving.
Next year running my own holiday cottages and selling car spares on line for myself…GOOD BY truckdriving :smiley:
