Careers before truck driving

Having read on a previous post, that someone was going back to being a paramedic & I used to be a mental health nurse, was just wondering what careers people had before becoming truck drivers ?& do you any regrets leaving that career for truck driving.

Personally I have zero regrets about leaving nursing as I always wanted to be a truck driver, clearly wired up wrong ! (Self diagnosis)

I used to work in a call centre during my studies (gained a degree I’ve never used) then drove trucks for a while, now i work within the automotive parts industry.

Soldier.

I was a chef, trained at Lewisham College, worked everywhere afterwards from local hospital to Knightsbridge restaurant, didn’t like it though.

■■■■ star - honest!

But even that became a bit of a ball ache!

butcher, RAF, driving, Recruitment, driving, recruitment etc etc etc

Merchant Navy & fisherman.

Apprentice mechanic
Wedgwoods pottery
Apprentice plasterer
Various crappy agency warehouse based jobs
HGV driver

I’ve worked as an engineer, aircraft engineer, lifeguard and a performance analyst for a championship football club as well as being on the Army previously.

Went from being a drivers mate on long loads to being the , well…driver

Yard man in a builders merchants
Scuba diving instructor
Yard foreman in same builders merchants
HGV driver

Not sure if that is any kind of progression, but I’m happy!

I used to be normal

Not as fun as you would imagine, took the joy out of watching I thought.

Anyway, had a few ‘issues’ after leaving the Army and have finally found something that keeps me relaxed and stress-free.

Fair play, same with my old career was not happy at all.Now like all jobs have bad days, but majority of the time enjoy my job.
