Can you help please i'm stuck in spain

Who sends a 7.5 tonner from the uk to Spain is what I’d like to know

Why not ,our 3.5 tonne flats have been a lot further than Spain .

Yes, but have they come back again?

Do bailiffs have authority to carry out their duties in a foreign country?

If so, why would they want to foot the fuel and ferry bill for getting the truck back to the UK anyway?

If it was me in a similar situation, the last place I would do is come on here to ask for help. My family would be my first and only place I would look to for help. As has been said earlier, Spain is only 2.5 hrs away on a plane, and for less than £150. Why would you want to hitch a lift home that would take days.

Something not right here I reckon. Possibly trying to use an innocent trucker as a drugs mule I suspect.

And how did the repo man/men know exactly when and where to find them. :unamused:
Don’t think the man who was going to loose his truck would have told them much about it’s location either. IMO it sounds well dodgy to me.
edit … stay where you are 'cos the weather up here in NE Scotland is bloody crap :frowning:

Court-appointed bayliffs with a police officer in attendance are the only ones with any real authority. Fat chance you are going to get the full set turn up for an overseas re-possession. Whilst the driver is abroad, that cab is presumably their home. Making someone homeless has social safeguards in place, that are actually enshrined even more strongly in mainland Europe than they are here. Repo people take advantage of the fact that most people when driving about have no clue as to what they can and cannot legally do, such as refuse point-blank to co-operate with any random bods that will tell you that “they can do this” and “They can take that” etc etc. They are in fact merely agency staff doing a job very similar to debt collecting - and are loved about as much as well. --k the paperwork. I just say “Not being a lawyer, I don’t know the intergrity of this document, and therefore do not recognise it.” I’ve refused to accept a caution from a plain clothed police officer back in the 80’s (not driving related) because he could not provide proof of his identity. I’d never seen a warrent card before, and therefore refused to recognise it, or him as being something I’d have to defer to.

If someone holds you up with a banana, and you foolishly hand over all your cash and valuables, then do we blame the crook, or the “victim” who clearly wasn’t aware that it is actually quite difficult to use a banana as a lethal weapon?

‘‘and the reason they knew where to get me they had hit his house first so had our routes and destination’s’’

So they had a search warrant as well :open_mouth: (and all they were after was a little ole 7.5 tonner) now seems even more odd to me … maybe there’s a lot we aint being told ?

This is not right who would travel to Spain and not have access to money if things went (zb) he would have enough money on him to get a cheap flight even to gatwick and I am sure if he spoke to the right people or his family would be able to sort this unless he was the one who owned the lorry :bulb:

I may be wrong, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing the OP on the forum again. With the possible exception of a rant about how no one is willing to help him and the trucking community isn’t what it was. Followed by a big flounce.

I’d just like to draw attention to this post …

stinks to high heaven to me, whats to say he hasn’t hired a truck drove it down there and flogged it, slip back into the u.k virtually unnoticed riding shotgun, i think anyone giving this guy a ride had better sleep with one eye open, nod off and at best wake up with all your posessions gone, at worst coshed, dragged out the cab and dumped while matey has it away with the wholle lot. call me cynical but no way would he gat in my cab with that sob story.

surely to jaysus u have friends!!!.your doing urself no favours here.your story has been questioned many times here and all the sums dont add up…so u have money to stay in a hotel???so why the need to phone home to ur “pensioners” family…is it because u have done something bad and u know they run ya???u still havent answer why u cant get a taxi to the airport and fly home…i’ve known men that got a plane home to ireland because the boss man didnt leave they wages out for their wife and kids…i dont think any of us would leave home to head over sea’s if we hadnt a back up plan if things went ■■■■ up while out there.

Couldn’t he use his running money - what was left of it?

Personally, I wouldn’t go anywhere (especially abroad) without the ol’ flexible friend :sunglasses:

Well I for one am shocked at some of the distinctly unchristian attitudes displayed on this forum! The guy is a fellow trucker reaching out in his hour of need. I don’t know how some of you sleep.

Dwb2409 your plight has played on my mind for most of the day so I rang a friend who actually is a resident of Alicante and Tangiers and he tells me that he was due to drive back to the UK this week to deliver some err washing powder? Yeah that’ll do, washing powder. Anyway he says that if you’re prepared to drive over to Manchester and deliver his bags of washing powder then he’ll happily let you keep the car afterwards for your onward journey.

How nice is he?

I’m sure Rikki is able to get the IP address of the terminal the OP signed up from / posted from.

A quick search of that IP address on Google will tell you which country, which province of that country and which ISP the user is logged on (my money is on it not being anywhere near Spain)

Cheap flight to gatwick would probably result in a sniffer dog discovering a kilo off coke. Law of averages the truck you ride shotgun in probably would sail through the docks. I may be a million miles of and I apologise if the op is genuine but 5 posts to your name and a member for 2 days something seems dodgy, if it was me stranded I’d be on the phone to friends and family not have a random thought of joining an online forum. Many of us on here have never met face to face but have a fairly sound understanding of what each other are probably like. If someone asked who was a long serving member on here they’d probably get a more positive response. Something doesn’t add up here.
