Call the Police

chester:
Iam sure my promotion at work to a Lead Driver was because I always let the office know if they drivers were running amock, not following procedures or if I’d seen them not acting professionally with clients.
Or if I’d seen them parked up having extra breaks in lay-bys etc.

Ever get chucked off the waltzer?

What a strange question to propose!
However in this rollercoaster industry we find ourselves in, you will find Iam top of my game.
Just wish others would follow my suit.

If you got a call to say your wife had been mugged, would you not want to get home asap? What about if your young child had just been bitten by the neighbours dog? Elderly parent just been rushed into hospital?

Congratulations for being grassing idiots. We have police who get paid by US to deal with it. If you think there are insufficient numbers of law enforcement, get on to your local MP ffs :imp:

I suppose you all want better pay & conditions too…try sticking together instead of grassing each other up you gormless pricks.

Go away you ,I owe the next driver nothing. Especially my loyalty and unity, any romantic notion of you and other drivers being some sort of band of brothers ended years ago. Flood gates were opened many years ago and licences became affordable and attainable ,sadly this attracted many folks that neither had the time and patience or brains to safely drive a lorry, if I see someone driving un-safely I’ll raise the question with the police or there firm. You call me a grass , no bother … you my friend are a class one . You seem more than happy for these clowns to exist

Wow so much bile and hostility, :open_mouth:
Can you not maintain a discussion without resorting to name calling.
Do you think you are even fit to be this self appointed traffic monitoring super hero you consider yourself to be with an attitude like yours, not to mention your illusions of grandeur and superiority.
How long have you been driving exactly to reach such heights and feel entitled to make such judgements?

It’s never been a ‘‘Band of brothers’’ situation in this job tbh, but before people like yourself got into the industry, we did at least empathise with each other, and tried to help each other out, rather than drop each other in the [zb] like immature schoolgirls tbh mate.

Yeh there are the morons out there, but if they bother you so much and so often, there must have been at least one occasion where you maybe stopped at the same msa for instance, so did you tackle them face to face, or do you find a snivelling phone call less awkward and much easier on yourself.
I aint as you say happy for them to exist, but my character and standards stop me from snake belly level reporting, I prefer to leave it to those who are actually qualified and paid to catch them.

For the record calling ME names is like water off a duck’s wotsit, but fill yer boots if it pleases you… just saying.

13 years on the road and have zero time for idiots, like I said I tolerate mistakes daily. I be made lots of mistakes and will do forever more whilst on the road. But asking you where do you draw the line, you see something dangerous or stupid , do you not report it?

Your 13 to 15 years ago was the start of the dumbing down process where virtually no skills were needed that were different to driving a car, and so came the clueless idiots you are on about.

As I said before that, (not counting the proper drivers who continued to help each other in varying degrees) there was a great deal of empathy amongst most drivers, who actually spoke to each other…shock :open_mouth: , helped from day to day, and socialised with each other…
The band of brothers thing you mention is total ■■■■■■■■ btw.

There has always been an idiot contingent in this job, but never more abundant than today…fact.

However at least you know where you are with the idiots, and if you can actually drive a truck efficientlly yourself, you deal with them by evasive and defensive driving, and be professional enough to just shake your head, call them a ■■■■■ and move on…it’s what we do and what seperates us from the road raging amateurs. :bulb:

However, (and at the risk of causing offence here with MY opinion)
I would rather share the road and deal with the idiots than have to contend with low life sneaks who would grass up a fellow driver at the drop of a hat, because with those guys nobody can ever trust them, they are an unknown quantity in terms of anticipating what they are going to do to you next, and they are consequently usually found ■■■■■■■ the boss’s leg as he walks around the yard…a fine example is Mr Chester (if he is real :unamused: ) who has been promoted to…‘‘Top driver’’ :unamused:   …Jeeez H.

To answer your question NO I do not report it, same as I do not go around picking up litter, or putting parking cones out so I do not get blocked in, both of which also ■■■■ me off along with with the idiots…because it is not in my job description. :bulb:

There IS one time in my entire life that I have reported a driver, which I actually put up on this forum…
However the big difference between you and me mate is I rang the company and had the integrity and courage of my convictions, by insisting that they gave the driver in question my name and phone number so I could have it out with him…he did not call me btw.
This was not just some self righteous self policing of an everyday traffic offence, this was personal, the ■■■■ nearly drove over the top of my youngest daughter, my little girl, driving her car who had just passed her test the day before, after sitting on her back bumper, and causing her to go into the grass verge while turning off :smiling_imp: …and yeh, I admit it, I wanted to ■■■■■■■ him.

I was always brought up in an environment where you looked after each other, sorted out your own problems, minded your own business with integrity and character, and where people who were not to be trusted, and who reported you for this that and the ■■■■ other, were only 2 or 3 notches up from paedophiles, who were treated with the contempt they deserved…that is just the way it was and is with me…nothing personal.

Police or their firm. Not ’ there '.

It’s a shame really because I was going to answer your post using some long words and interesting vocabulary, but you have shown that may be out of your league and I would not want to come across as bullying you

Now that is just utter bull and you know it. In my last ten years of driving professionally most of the road rage I have seen has come from truck drivers. They are not alone but the aggression from some of these idiots is appalling. Tailgating cars, flashing their lights and blowing their horns, carving up other drivers and using the size of their vehicle to intimidate.
Maybe you and I and I am sure a few others can control our temper but they are far too many who can’t and are just a menace on our roads.

Drivers who drive dangerously and a lot do it everyday should be reported but by the police who as we have said are too busy elsewhere. :unamused:

jakethesnake:

Disagree…

I can’t remember in the last 5 years or so going looneychoons about being carved up by someone else. Seriously, it’s just water off a ducks back. I do have a little sweary session at them but that’s more because of the surprise that someone could do something so stupid in front of me. After 20 seconds it’s hit resume, check my mirrors and carry on trying to work out what I was thinking about before Mrs Numbnuts arrived, ■■■■■■ around 3 feet away from my front bumper at 55mph and then departed from my life.

Percentage wise I cannot see why it wouldn’t be the same  Of course there has been a huge increase in volume and therefore an increase in actual events, but there were plenty knobs around in the 70’s, you have managed to prove the point.

Just ask some of your elder truck driving pals and they will confirm.

Thanks for the insult BTW… Very mature of you.

Shoildnt this be reported to the police?

I mean it’s abusive behaviour after all…

See there lies the issue. If you’re going to go down the reporting route then you have to be whiter than white yourself, otherwise it could happen to you and you could be on the end of whatever.

In now 20 years of driving trucks, buses and coaches abroad and at home, in the country and city, I’ve not once felt an urge or a need to call the police or a company about someone else’s driving.

I passed my HGV Class 1…

Please, if you feel the need to have a pop at me, make it worthwhile.

Just come up from Avonmouth to Wigan area in last 4 hours, and for the hell of it I counted how many acts of bell endedness I saw on the M5/M6.
Score up to press is 10, …and then of course there was the obligatory carnival procession of about 7 cars hogging the middle lane at 43mph, holding every ■■■■ up.
So that would have been 11 calls to The Old Bill, if I had been our mate on here ‘‘The Traffic Equalizer’’ :unamused:

So 11 calls every 4 hours driving that he does on average, would be 22 calls a day or 110 in a 5 day week :open_mouth:
HOW TF is he concentrating on his OWN work, whilst on his one man traffic based crusade to ‘‘Right all wrongs, and keep the public safe’’ :unamused:
I bet the old bill love him eh with a resounding…‘‘Oh not this ■■■■ again with his traffic reports’’ after every call.
So…if you’re interested mate I’ve got about 15 assorted registrations, I could pm to you.
I could be the ‘‘Robin’’ to your ‘‘Batman’’ type character :bulb:
Also, when I think about it you know :bulb: … I’m quite turned on by the thought of wearing red tights over my undercrackers. :sunglasses:

Got to make jokes out of this as the thought of all this and how some truck drivers have plummeted in calibre and character to utter depths to actually report each other :open_mouth: would just ■■■■ depress me. :grimacing:

bald bloke:
Well I’ve never grassed anyone up yet in all my years of driving but if I ever saw someone clearly drunk whilst driving I may have to make the that call but that’s it.

I follow several Police forces on FB, and one last night posted that after a call from a landlord, they stopped the driver and car concerned, and he blew 155, that’s nearly 5 times over the limit.

To me, that is serious enough to have to call the Police, and I hope the guy gets locked up for it. There is NO excuse to get behind the wheel when you that sozzled.

Ken.

This topic reminds me of this

Not having a pop at you just saying how your statement in a recent thread was totally wrong and it was confirmed (wrong) by 2 other forum members.
Tailgating was far far less by lorries in the 70’s and as you did not pass your HGV till 83 I wonder how you have that in your mind?

Just as a matter of interest, if you saw a driver driving dangerously one day and the next they fatally injured someone you knew well by the same style of dangerous driving how would you feel about it all?

Probably the same way I feel about watching the late night drunks getting rowdy round town knowing full well if they scrap and a ‘wrong’ punch is thrown one of them could be dead. As happened to a mate of mine. I don’t report every drunk person I see either.
