Congrats on the trolling by stealth…where it is dressed up as a serious question, but in reality is just another invitation for people have a go at each other!

If i was a tramper, falling short of spending my own money on exterior stuff i would put effort into making the cab flash. I couldnt live in a bin and i like my home comforts.

As it is, im a day worker, so my main concern is getting the job done so i can go home… so if the cabs clean, litter free and the radio works im happy.

As for bosses spending money on bling… id rather it was in my pay packet tbh.

I totally agree with all this!! :grimacing:
Mo money mofo!!!

You have every reason to agree with that last bit des!!!

I think there’s a little bit of bitter jealousy from the ones who say blings for idiots etc. They would love a truck like that, but can’t afford the stuff and can’t be bothered to wash it. A bit like everyone hates tesco drivers, in reality we’re all jealous of their money but don’t want to work the anti social hrs. Each to their own, live and let live

But would you have paid to have the light bars and polished alloys fitted if they weren’t already on when you bought it? Or paid for a nice!! airbrushed arty paint job?

No, definitely not!

matamoros:
I would consider a fridge essential these days on distance work but always managed with a gas ring, if I was doing it now I think I would have a microwave as well.

Yes, that’s pretty much my view. A fridge pays for itself in a very short space of time compared to paying £2 for a can of drink from an MSA, and I’ve always preferred self catering to cafes anyway. I’ve always made do with a gas ring in the past but have thought about getting a microwave as a convenience.

matamoros:
Incidentally have you( or your company) started earning yet?

No, picking the truck up tomorrow and will be up and running next week.

Thought you might be waiting for the new month to start, best of luck.

I wondered if you’d got a 24v one as have been considering one for a while but can’t really justify the extreme cost without being sure they’re worth it.

It’s cheaper to buy a 2000w inverter for £150 and a £29 microwave than pay £450+ for a 24v microwave.

and its quicker then 24v lol

All the best Harry next week!! Jamie! I’ve been looking at what I’m earning and I’m taking home £457 a week for under 50 hours! 15 hours of those 50 is asleep in the Hub!
Just as long as I don’t have a night off or holiday it’s not bad!!

…those that think £350 per week is a wage…

A typical class 2 agency driver would be very lucky to clear that in a week after tax :unamused:

+1

I don’t clear that and I’m employed full-time class 2 but what do I do ? Go back to the dole and get my £65 a week ?

Or stick at a job where I start at 8:00 and finish at 4:00-5:00 every afternoon. Have a regular laugh and joke with the 3 bosses in charge, and then have them make me coffee or have a smoke and chat everyday with them and then leave off work and get my wages and spend plenty of time with the missus ?

I learnt money isn’t everything, yes I wish I had more but my life is a lot dame better then being on the dole

this is a forum for discussion of many things truck related. have you never seen or heard phrases about this subject before?
i know i have. and i’m sure there’s plenty of other people that have. but it’s just ignored, so now we are debating the issue.
it’s not trolling as far as i’m concerned. does anyone else share his view?

that’s a prety fare comment.
when i said about the £350 per week, i wasn’t referring to someone working 9 to 5. if you’re getting £350 for 9-5, it’s not bad at all.

why is someone who wants a nice cab a ‘prick’?

Does it really matter what someone earns, what they want to drive and if they want bling or not? One of the biggest things wrong with this country is people can’t just get on with their own life, worry about themselves being happy etc, and let others do as they want.If they are happy, who gives a …?

Totally agree mate.

i like to keep my cab clean, some would say too clean. i also like to keep the truck washed. the truck i drive has 6 spots on the roof and has a light bar on front and each side.i like to make sure all lights r working.now i also have to have at least 6 straps, a spare fuel filter, 5 lts or oil, a spare clean pair of gloves. now i also like to be clean shaved, hair brush and clean clothes on me. i like to have pride in my job, my truck and myself. i’m the father of 7 children and have a morage and i feel that i get well paid. i feel that my boss has pride in his plant and also pride in his drivers, he also drives himself so maybe that why he takes pride in his plant and drivers.

Just another forum troll trying to get a rise out of people.
Shame we dont have a numpty filter. :sunglasses:

he has a point though

Won’t someone please think of the fridge drivers?

It does not bother me if a fridge parks next to me,the fridge motor drowns out all the other noise, after all we all eat the food that goes by fridge, not sure why some drivers get in a state when they see one looming to the truck park spot they are in.

Although you’ll always get some local firm that will try and pay crap but offer a v8 or something like that, only a div would drive a nice motor for crap money.

 Had that T shirt for a couple of weeks :unamused:

I pull a fridge and the way I look at it is. If I’m parked there first then tough luck but I do try and stay away from other dirvers if I pull in late. Was in my cab the other evening heard some driver pulling up with a comment asking ‘is that dam thing runing’ was in 2 minds if i should let in run all night just to tick him off

Pulleyns have alarms and locks on their kit,due to the high value of pharmeceuticals they haul all over.
If i was doing fridges,i would not sleep thinking some chap turns it off in the night, with the load ruined.

Come to think of it at Lincoln Farm, they do not allow them and charge them for one space on the road by the front gate.

I’d rather have usefull extras like auto tailgate, towing sling and shackle, toolbox for gloves, overalls etc before spotlights which on the front would block the towing eye (seen it done and od spent ages removing the lights before D6 could tow him) or roof mounted ones which would be left hanging from a customers’ trees (which I’ve done with roof beacons).
