Said it before sand I’ll say it again, amazing! Must be fantastic to live like that.
Any plans to take it abroad? Don’t you ever worry about security?

I’d love to take it abroad, that’s the reason I got a low height double decker. I’m only small so the 5’10” headroom is no problem.
Security can be a problem, I got broke into whilst I slept in Retford, got a laptop and phone, but where I am now at Tuxford I’m as safe as houses.
I’ve cleaned the bathroom out this morning so I could get some pics
i take a lot of stuff up the test station i will ask im sure the 7.5 t that get converted to campers get away with tachos is if they dont have an area to carry cargo. and ive took ex military vehichles up without tachos which go to shows and they dont require one
Bristol VR circa 1980?
Standard build was to 13’ 8’’ or 14’ 6’’ but some were built down to 13’ 5’'.
Should have the stubby gearstick in a metal 6 slot selector to the left of the steering wheel. Do the gears ‘drag’ when changing?
Have you had to use the obligatory piece of paper to stop the metal sliding windows rattling?

may of been asked before but having bike on front, does that obscure the lights on driver side? - do you drive it a night?? just curious is all.
bus looks brill, keep pics coming
cheers
cc
The lights are obscured with the bike but you can see the indicators and sidelights and its always summer days when i carry the bike. I intend to duplicate the lights before the summer I think the easiest way will be by re using light clusters from off site fork trucks so I have high/low beam.
The bus is the 13’ 5” or 4.1M and has the little gate type change. There are no problems with the transmission and I always give a steady change between gears and not just flipped thro like I remember the old school buses used to be.

Each gear has its own clutch so changing gears steady will prolong the life of the whole box. Although it’s tempting to set off in second the gear won’t last long. First gear isn’t much use but just to get going it will make a world of difference to second gear.

Did you see Tonight: Generation Rent on ITV last night? It featured a short story on young couple who instead of buying a house or renting, bought a double decker bus off eBay and converted it into their fully functioning home. He did a pretty impressive job by the looks of it.
You so need to paint that bus Matt Black
If you see loons in trucks flashing you like mad you know you have been spotted eh
Sorry if we asked before, but how many MPG you getting, I know your driving it steady (As you would expect with your home under your backside so to speak)
The urinal is a nice touch, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in a private dwelling before. Does it flush itself periodically like a proper one?
The MPG is around the 11 or 12 mark, the problem is I have a slight leak from the tank if it’s over half full so I put 10 gallons a time in it to keep it low.
The urinal has a waterless system on it, the reason I fitted this as there’s no point flushing a gallon water into the waste tank each time I have a pee.
I didn’t see the program but think the other bus mentioned is a white one? If it is then I’ve read about it. The big difference with it that it needs a water supply, a waste outlet and its static. The difference with mine is that its all self contained. At the moment it carries 1000 litres of water and 205 litres of black waste.
Just wondered if Marlow still has the bus, I may have missed it but I haven’t seen any updates for a while?
Hi Harry, hope your keeping well. I sold the bus last year and moved back up to Yorkshire.

A mention of a Bristol VR has taken me back some years!! I remember as a lad, me and my mate would venture into town and whilst waiting for the bus, would bet a 50p Luncheon Voucher (my old chap had loads in his wages every week and would give 'em to me, so we’d go have a big fry up on a Saturday morning!!) if the next bus would be a Bristol VR or an RE! C’mon Stan, what was the difference between the 2?
