Have to say though that I really enjoyed reading these threads about Marlow’s bus back in the day, so good luck to him in the next phase of his life and thanks for posting them.

£2000 for an old bus isn’t too bad I suppose, they have them on ebay etc.
I’ve seen a few over the years turned into cafés and kids play busses. I guess the only issue might be getting spares for the older ones?
Fond fond memories of getting on a VR back in the day with my mum to get next years school uniform etc. Sitting on the back seat, with just a thin piece of Formica type panel between you and the engine screaming it’s nuts off, with hot smelly exhaust blowing into the bus
The driver up front in the winter with thick coat, gloves and bobble hat on to keep the cold out.
Sitting at the back looking down the bus through the windscreen watching it lurch side to side as the driver rolled his ■■■ over the steering wheel
Them were the days
I suppose you could still take it down a bus lane now to avoid all the traffic too:lol:

. . . if the next bus would be a Bristol VR or an RE! C’mon Stan, what was the difference between the 2?
Simple - the VR is the double decker and the RE is the single deck. VR meaning Vertical Rear engined and RE simply for Rear Engine. Remember this was the era in which front engined buses were the norm and VR and RE were used to distinguish that difference.
