Blinged up trucks

Wouldn’t mind driving a bling truck but I wouldn’t want to lose holiday entitlement or wages for it :open_mouth:

i drive what youd call a blinged up truck and my wages are very good, enough for me to live on,my gaffer has paid for the lightbars on my truck and the wheeltrims and various bits of stainless steel for the chassishe,s also paid for my truckfest entry .malc i know the lad who your on about.but the story about the night out money is a myth mate,he just spent a fortune on the truck he drove,he,s a good lad he doesnt work there anymore tho and the trucks been sold i think, when i worked at as taylor a few lads there paid for stuff using their night out money to pay for it.ive blinged up company trucks but ive never paid for it in that way.this issue of blinged up company trucks comes up on a regular basis.personnally i couldnt give a monkeys what people think of me and why i spend MY MONEY on a truck i dont own.i have my reasons.as i get older tho my tastes have changed,i dont like curtains with tassles on or stuff in the windscreen like flags etc all of which i had when i first started driving,i only like clear or amber L.E.D,S on the front of trucks, but they are my personal tastes but unlike some members on here i also dont feel the need to have a go at folk that like all the things i dont, its personal choice and if you like it thats all that matters.if every truck looked the same how boring.blinging trucks is not new go on the oldies forum theres trucks from the 50,s 60,s 70,s and 80,s there that have extra marker lights, wheeltrims, polished paint work,
neil i think this truck looks bostin somtimes less is more

and so does this one great photo by the way

my truck up till last year was a g reg foden used to like the double take when she used to pass these flash modern motors on the motorway. no need to use the clutch once she was rolling and although a little noisy the cab was quite roomy. shes been replaced with a daf something or other now, ■■■■ gearbox and underpowered.
id be embarresed to be seen driving a blinged up motor especially if covered in pictures, ok if you 21 not to clever if you 40 plus. old saying smarter the motor ■■■■■■■ the wages…well someones gotta pay for all that bling

saying smarter the motor [zb] the wages…well someones gotta pay for all that bling

sorry mate not always true,im on good money thanks

I wasn’t having a go at you Carl, every truck I have ever seen that you drive has been split mint which I can appreciate. Everyone’s idea of Bling is different, this is my idea of a tidy outfit.

Cheers Franksie

Would you take a job just to get a blinged up truck?

Remember reading somewhere recently that drivers from a company (can’t remember which one, wasn’t a big firm though) had agreed to give up a week (or 2) holiday pay in exchange for the company fitting light bars to the trucks.

Just made me think about how desperate some people must be to have a blinged truck…

sounds like Ponsonby .

i remember talking to one of their drivers in Charnock about the time the Volvo FH came out and he had one.

He was going on about how his boss took a couple of days hols off him to pay for chrome wheel trims and spotlight bars.

I told him he was off his head and chrome wheels dont pay mortgages.

Am I the only person who enjoys driving old pre 1996 Scanias with a few battle scars? Character beats bling in my opinion!

bling’s fine if you have the time to keep it clean, unfortunately due to the work they do our motors can look very old very quickly, we have a 54 plate 8 wheeler thats hanging, even got alloy wheels somewhere under the mud & brake dust, trouble is it’s bought as a tool to do a job & it gets the job done . on the other hand we have a basic FM Xreg 8 wheeler thats been driven by the same driver since new & it look in fairly good nick.

ooh canundrum newer lorry that looks cr@p or older lorry thats well presented ?

Unfortunately the condition of the truck is a reflection on you the driver & that goes for every truck on the fleet my fleet No. is BT07 but it’s refered to as my truck just like GZS is pauls truck etc.etc.
As long as i can get near the pressure washer a couple of times a week i’m happy , i’ll even polish the fuel tank a couple of times a year but thats me done i’m afraid, if you saw some of the places i go the first thought to polish would be why bother .

i wouldn’t throw in a job just for a better motor as stated before the bills need paying & shiney wheels & fuel tanks won’t impress my bank manager much

I prefer the clean lines of a truck at the front without rows and rows of spotlights, I think they spoil the shape at the front. Not mention they are useless in most driving situations unless you’re driving in the wilds of Scotland, Wales or in the middle of the sticks.

There’s a certain rationale here, buy a top of the range truck, add every conceivable option and then some, paint some graphics and eventually you will find an idiot that will pay you to drive it.

yup…

what’ve you got & when do i start ?

its ok malc i know you wernt bud

I would not mind to drive blinged up truck if I would earn the same money… But as long as it’s not me who would have to polish it

i like a bit a bling an my gaffa is willing to sort it in exchange for keepin the truck tidy, thers nothin wrong with takin pride in what ya drivin especially the trampers. Ive spent a bit on bits but only stuff like air horn, cb, interior deco but the main stuff like the bars an lights i just asked or rather pesterd for, ( ya don ask ya don get )plus he paid for the fittings of the stuff i got which was a ■■■■■ load more than i paid fa the bits. givin up ya hols is a bit extreme but bling it up fa sure… !

 What he said  :grimacing:

my gaffer likes the trucks lookin good and tidy to help promote the company and as soon as a new unit comes into the yard it gets bars, lights and a few other bits and bobs i got my own curtains with tassels and my initials embroiderd ot the tie backs to add a personal touch but also cos daf curtains are pants at keepin light out . anything i buy for the truck is mine and can be removed at any time i choose plus wages also good and as soon as anytihng needs sorted it gets sorted.

No I wouldn’t and in fact not that long ago, maybe 3 years ago, I turned down a job because the vehicle I would have been driving was blinged up, spotlights, light bars, tasselled curtains and the rest. It would have been too embarrassing to drive it so I went elsewhere.

Depends if you really like your trucks or not i think. Some just want to drive them and others like to take pride in there trucks.
Thats my opinion anyway.

I like to drive, (well most of the time  ) and I like to take pride in my truck, BUT I would not EVER take a pay cut or lose holiday entitlement for all the bling. But lets face it a nice looking truck, NOT over the top does create a good image and makes the company stick in peoples minds…maybe not necessarily for the right reasons   , ie OMG here comes the truck with all the lights, that has its own connection to the National Grid…
Or here comes the driver that plays peek a boo on the motorway, his curtains are almost nearly always drawn!!

guess mine would fit the less is more catergory then carl

So if the boss bought a new truck, & blinged it up.
He`s even willing to pay you stacks of cash to drive it …

But he`d had it had done in pink livery, with a pink interior & much more to make it look very, very gay …

would you drive it?
