must…resist urge…to…BUY!!!

Although I do drive a slightly blinged up truck, we dont pay for any of it and we dont get less money for having them blinged, ie kelsa bars and alloy wheels.
Not all firms are all flash no cash, some firms do actually want to present a good image. And if they get the right drivers to do the job properly and keep the truck clean then its all good.
Personally I dont buy loads of interior decorations/bling, as I think it means more stuff to clean. But each to there own.
The only thing I would consider buying is a Dog’s Danglys sound system or an upgrade to the factory fitted one I have, I like my music loud!!! WELL I AM BLOODY DEAF!!!

DonutUK:
Would you take a job just to get a blinged up truck?

Remember reading somewhere recently that drivers from a company (can’t remember which one, wasn’t a big firm though) had agreed to give up a week (or 2) holiday pay in exchange for the company fitting light bars to the trucks.

Just made me think about how desperate some people must be to have a blinged truck…

Don’t you drive a nice Scania drawbar?

I would rather drive a plain truck and get paid more.

Same here, but I know a mate of mine starts a new job next week and has taken around 80p an hour pay cut because its a V8 topline, with airbrushing and twin stacks

No mate, wrong ■■■■■

the one that drives the F Line scanni is Doughnut

I was told and I had no reason to doubt the information that one of Punchards young drivers did not claim night out money because his boss allowed him to bling up his truck and do the continent.

I know there are some photos of Punchard around the site but not sure if the driver is a member on here.

Carl normally knows the score about the local firms who allow customising.

the drop in wages may have nothing to do with the truck just what the company pays

No I wouldn’t and in fact not that long ago, maybe 3 years ago, I turned down a job because the vehicle I would have been driving was blinged up, spotlights, light bars, tasselled curtains and the rest. It would have been too embarrassing to drive it so I went elsewhere.

Not a cats in hell chance would I loose holiday entitlement for a blinged up truck… :smiling_imp:

:unamused: What a doughnut i am!

Ok, I’ll be the first brave one. I moved companys about 3 years ago because I was fed up with driving outdated pieces of equipment (the newest truck was an “R” reg Merc 1823) to a company that ran at maximum, 3 year old Scania topline ridgids.

I did’nt take a pay cut, but I felt a whole lot more professional.

Depends if you really like your trucks or not i think. Some just want to drive them and others like to take pride in there trucks.
Thats my opinion anyway.

I always used to take pride in all the trucks I owned, they were always kept washed, clean and tidy and I continued to do so with the various trucks I’ve recently driven while employed since finishing as an OD. You can like trucks and take pride in the one you drive without loads of lights and tassels. Here are a couple of shots of trucks I ran, does it look like I didn’t take pride?

I never said it wasn’t. :stuck_out_tongue: And I’m sure you can see where I’m coming from by pointing out taking pride does not have to mean all the bells and whistles. :stuck_out_tongue:

That,s why the drivers of such vehicles constantly wear sunglasses, to avoid being recognised, they should carry an offence code IE: SP30 speeding TS 10 traffic signal TC 30 tasseled curtains 3 points an 60 quid.
