Bewick Tractor units through the years

Retired Old ■■■■:
Do you happen to have any photos of your former vehicles in WRM livery, Dennis?

Hiya ROF,during the short time I continued with the Group none of the Bewick motors were repainted into WRM fleet colours,I do have a number of shots of some of the new motors I put into the fleet from that time which were then in WRM livery but I won’t be adulterating this thread further by posting any,I’ll leave that to others  Cheers Dennis.

A 1976 shot in the yard at Milnthorpe, our operation had by this time moved out of the centre of the village to the K.Fell depot next to the Libby factory, but we were still tight on space so we continued to use the old depot for week-end parking of some units, the old workshop was turned over to storage for the Mill. The F88 in the foreground is the only 240bhp one we ran,all the others being 290’s.My car,a 280E Merc, is just poking into the shot :frowning: Cheers Bewick.

Bit extravagant for a breakdown truck?

You can’t beat a bit of “grow yer own”. Why do you think I’ve got two allotments?

Maybe I’m way off the mark but I assumed that ROF was referring to the Merc being a little OTT for a breakdown vehicle?

Pete.

This is a late '70’s shot I took of our wrecker sailing under J36 northbound on a Sunday with one of Smith’s of Whiteinch on suspended tow to Taits at Carlisle, our wrecker driver said the Atki flew over Shap with the fully freighted F88. :sunglasses:

Job more than well done, and think about what mr I’ll empty ur bank account Mansfield would turn out with today to do nothing different,is it me but have we lost our way. I certainly don’t find the industry fun anymore, but perhaps that’s just me

It’s only a lump of metal and rubber Jack not a Horse :unamused: Although it did bear the fleet name “My Birthday” which was the first harness race horse I owned but obviously it was repainted into WRM livery after I had left the group so any further sentiment on my part disappeared with the spray gun :frowning: so don’t take it personal, lifes too short to get sentimental     Cheers Bewick.

I know Big Ben Cartwright was thinking of taking a look for restoration Dennis, and I’m pretty sure it’d end up in the correct uniform!

Mmm, I remember ‘Mr Mansfield’ when he was my apprentice at the quarry garage! Come a long way since then the lad has, and upset a few doing it.

Pete.

Including his former partner, Pete  :unamused:  :unamused:

Got some reet fancy tackle, but charges the earth, I don’t think people use them by choice they’re forced to. I can’t remember if it was his outfit or somebody as bad but I had a tractor unit and loaded trailer nicked out the yard one Saturday night, the long and short of it was a mush rung me on the Monday morning doing his buscuit that one of my trailers was blocking his factory car park and entrance in brum. The bobbies had already been informed of the theft, so I told him and the police I would be there in the hour to remove it, the mush on learning what had gone on was very helpful and said no problem. When we got there ur man ad been and taken the trailer back to his compound, £487 to get it back nothing but a bunch of ■■■■■■■■■ in my opinion but like I say you don’t get the option in most cases
