My Mrs is Glaswegian and we’ve watched all still game but can’t for the life of me remember what this means.
Also , Chewing the fat is quality.
scanny77:
modern comedies are not funny because they have to be politically correct which takes out most of the humour

Not read the whole thread, but Vicar of Dibley and One Foot in the Grave spring to my mind. I don’t watch too much TV these days, so cannot comment on recent ones.

Just Good friends with Jan Francis & Paul Nicholas
Allo Allo
Did you know that Radio 4 Extra broadcast the radio version of Dad’s Army along with The Navy Lark, Round the Horn, I’m sorry I’ll read that again. They’ve also broadcast The Goon Show, Les Dawson, The men From the Ministry.
They are all guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.
I don’t watch much television, but I always have a good laugh at mrs browns boys , & father Ted

Definitely recommend 4extra, as well as abacus.FM and the british comedy channel if you’ve got access to online radio, all nonstop classic comedy. Round the Horne has to be my all time favourite - if you think modern comedies push the boundaries, imagine how this must have been in the 60s, with rambling sid rumpo and Julian and Sandy
Some other more modern ones on the radio to look out for: old Harry’s game (Andy Hamilton), the castle, and cabin pressure by the brilliant john finnemore (freight dog might well enjoy this one!)

Not to mention J Peesmore Gruntfuttock!
Ah, King Gruntfuttock of Peasemouldia! Comedy which stands the test of time well, and doesn’t seem old - certainly not 50 years old anyway.
Ah, Julian & Sandy. They’re on the Agency you know. Rent a Chap!

Where the hell have you been?! Not seen you on here for ages.
Is anybody else into the US show Modern Family? The kids put me on to it, I watched a few episodes with them, and never miss it now. Downloaded first 3 box sets on Sky on demand.

YES! I love it. Watched seasons 1 and 2 on netflix and downloaded seasons 3 and 4 on demand. I find it one of those rare laugh out loud comedies. Ed o’neil is hilarious and Phil is comedy gold!

Yeh, the dodgy stair thing in Phil’s house always gets me, think Cam is the best character on the show, and of course Gloria …for obvious reasons.
If anybody hasn’t seen it check it out.
