Being an owner driver

can you earn more money as an owner driver or just driving for a normal haulage company,

More money driving for a company. Even more the case now with the ever increasing diesel and rates that aren’t going up.

give od work a miss its really not the best time to start.getting paid is always an issue plus will the client still be solvent . :bulb: il never say i wont drive a wagon with my name on it again ,but not at the moment . and it would be highly specialised .to suit the market .example concrete pump truck .
but even then you have to fight for your money .

Mate im paying £240 a week extra in fuel than last year and its hurting.
Its time to sit back, watch the bubbles burst on all the poor sods already in the game. Then when everyone realizes oh ■■■■ we have no one capable of delivering any more. Thats the time to become an OD.

Not even worth the cost of the phone call to VOSA to get the forms sent to you at the minute.

Rates are generally very low (unless you can get in on a niche market), costs are going up by the week and customers seem to take an age to pay!!!

Leave it 18 months or so until rates start to come up again.

Jan 07 £0.78 ppl May 08 £1.038 generaly 3000 K a week 1000 litres DAF XF 480. I think that would work out at £0.258 = £258.00 per week increase. and my rate are very similar to Jan 07.

And my mate is owed £9000 for work hes already done, and hes still expected to carry on dipping into his own pocket, they keep saying its in the post i told him a trip to Hull might well be in the offing…or kidnap one of their trucks see how they jump then…
