Surely a decent perimeter security fence put up bu a propper company would stop people casually waliking in an nicking fuel?
Cant see guard dogs working personally as they can just be fed whitch will keep them quiet for half an hour or so

As another post said, not enough is being done. Whilst thieves get away with things they always come back for more, usually getting that bit more greedier in the process.
None of these posts have or will sort this out. You need a deterrent and not a dog. Maybe a move to more secure premises if he doesn’t want onsite security. Even Milo the Presa Canario isn’t the answer for this situation long term.
This is Milo, my mates dog. Read up on the net about Presa Canario’s. 2 statements are always made in regards to the breed. 1) A strong experienced owner is required and 2) Involved in many human fatalities. All I can say to you is he is an awesome dog who sometimes looks at you as if he has gone mental.
As another guy says, get the geese in? Half dozen or so should do it.+ a f/t security guard.
how far from your yard is the nearest fuel up station you can use? if it not too far and it a 24hr one then consider parking the trucks in the yard with as little fuel as possible that way it doesnt make it attractive too them too keep coming back
If it’s a regular thing why are the Police not doing what they are supposed to do? ie sort it, not just accept it and hand out crime numbers ffs (rhetorical question already know the answer) Yeh, I know, knocking the Police again but am I right, or am I wrong??
A bloody good perimeter fence, cameras in each corner, a perimeter beam going all the way round with a live hook-up to ADT or whatever it is. When the beam is broken and the alarm sounds a rapid response security guard will arrive and make the nessesary checks/phone calls.
Hire a guard to drive round every hour and give him a security hut with a direct line to the police.
Or, next time you catch them in the act phone the police and tell them you’ve seen them waving what you think is a gun about. They’ll be there in a shot (no pun intended!)
Or get some bloody big bear traps and place them in the field which they’re coming over.

Sorry for title, but they are starting to ■■■■ me off!Our yard is being hit by the [zb] on a regular basis, every 3 or 4 days or so, and diesel being pinched. Sometimes it’s been 20 litres or so, sometimes 2-300 litres. They’ve been getting in across a field, and then getting through the hedge. The boss has put up a new fence, with barbed wire across the top, but they’re still managing to find gaps in hedges and wriggle in. They seem to be using a hose running across the field to whatever vehicle they’re using, and sucking it out.
Any ideas what else we can try? There’s CCTV covering the yard, but that doesn’t put them off at all, they stroll around the yard like they own it, and help themselves. Up until recently they’ve been smashing the locking caps, now they’re just undoing the standpipe and pulling it out and siphoning from there.
The local police come out each time, but they just shrug and give out a crime number. The worrying thing is that the boss is keen to catch them at it, but as he’s getting on in years my worry is that he’ll just get cracked across the head and left in a heap. I’m not sure whether a tripwire & loud alarm would help, or whether that would just bring him out and into harm’s way. He’s bought a tripwire system which will fire a blank shotgun shell / birdscarer arrangement, but don’t know whether that would encourage them to carry their own weapons if they though somebody was shooting at them?
Does anybody know of any gizmos or gadgets which would deter them at all? Preferably legal…
Gary
Is your gaffer paying you a premium to sort out his hedge monkey/polish problem.?
If not, I would kinda just leave it in his hands.
Won’t stop them but makes life difficult, park trucks tight together fuel tank to fuel tank.
Agree about a properly erected security fence all around the site. (that’ll cost some £1000’s)
Any CCTV/sensor operated alarms need to be silent alarms for enhanced chances of catching them on site.
If lynch mob staying in cabs, firstly needs a couple to sneak quietly to the entry point, cut the “■■■■” hose and block the exit before the rest turn on headlights, hazards, horns, and jump out.
this use to happen to a bloke i worked for, then over xmas one year he drained most of the fuel out then filled his tank with water ,the old ■■■■■ had a whale of a time over xmas draining it for him, never had his fuel touched again.
when i worked in security we had a couple of dog handlers, proper trained guys and dogs, trained with the police dog section not just some guy with a dog, one night during a routine mobile patrol one of the dog handlers came across some scrotes trying to get in a building, he called for assistance but a sensor light came on and the scrotes spotted him and they then tried to run away, the dog was released and one guy had a alsation hanging off his leg, it went to court! not the attempted burglary though but the scrote took the company to court for compensation for the dog bite!!
and one of the police dog handlers who trained with ours and we used to allow them onto many of our sites for training purposes, was taken off the dog section as his dog had bitten on several occasions, all were part of the job as such but the scrotes had claimed for damages and the powers that be considered that the dog was biting too hard■■?
the legal system is bollox and too many folk are making money defending the guilty… yes have legal aid but reduce the rates paid, i read somewhere that the lawyers defending the guilty are earning more through the legal aid scheme then those that are representing the aggrieved.
on the police thing, it annoys me when watching some of these traffic cops documentary things, how any times do they call for a helicopter? nearly every incident i think, and although i can see its a good resource but how much money could be saved by not using so often? maybe more bobbies on the streets ect,

I think it is quite rare for the hellicopter to be called however the programs just follow the cases where its involved as its more intresting, What annoys me is how ever hard the police work to catch the scum they always seem to be let off by the CPS anyway
A few firms around our way have been hit hard in recent months , we have not yet been robbed but I know soon we will get hit hard ,i have a animal on site (my brother ) but you can only handle one at a time if they have no weapons . Better to narrow down the bad security and fit ctv etc and get a nice hungry dog .
When the police chase the Diesel Fairies, they’re too scared to go into the Diddy Camp. I’ve seen it on several Police programmes where the voiceover says “the suspects disappeared into a nearby caravan site.” Sorry but the helicopter can see a suspect hiding in a back garden so why will the not see them dive into a caravan?
Taint the tank - would be my favoured option. Drain the tank, and for a period of time use a fuel card. fill the tank with as much dodgy diesel as you can. Give them a few weeks of 90% diesel, then lower the rate. Salt water is good, as would a little petrol to the mix. Waste oil would make identification of the culprits easy - as it would smoke excessively. I would think a good ambush would pay dividends, but the cost to those dishing it out could rebound. I think you probably want to target the police. The local beat bobby would be my first port of call. Start there and work up.
ps keep a sample of your tainted load of diesel as this can be used as evidence in a trial - if they were to match then the scum have very little defence.
Paying a security guard £350 notes a week to sit there at night would seem like the way forward. Lights on, plenty of noise…
So what’s the deal with the geese? Am I missing something?

Gives them a Christmas dinner to take their mind off the diesel

Your sort of wrong and right. His company might not be alone. I bet there are more in the area getting targeted. Catching the sods is hard work and it is best to catch them with the fuel in the back along with the pumping equipment as it isn’t worth the time and effort to catch them with just the pumping equipment.
As you know i know this from experience. I used to patrol an area where the fuel was being taken left right and centre. it used to happen on a nightly basis but the scum stopped nicking it on the days i was knocking about. When i was on a rest day for two days the firms got hit hard. It’s like they knew where you were at a certain time

OK says’s he leaves it to the boss. Fuel keeps getting stolen and the boss is finding it hard with money to replace the fuel that is going missing. Op then turns up for work to be told that there is no longer a job due to not having the money because he is having to fill up, say 5-6 trucks every morning at £500 a pot x that by 6,and that’s £3000 every morning.
