Bastard pikey diesel thieving scum

Sorry for title, but they are starting to ■■■■ me off!

Our yard is being hit by the ■■■■■■ on a regular basis, every 3 or 4 days or so, and diesel being pinched. Sometimes it’s been 20 litres or so, sometimes 2-300 litres. They’ve been getting in across a field, and then getting through the hedge. The boss has put up a new fence, with barbed wire across the top, but they’re still managing to find gaps in hedges and wriggle in. They seem to be using a hose running across the field to whatever vehicle they’re using, and sucking it out.

Any ideas what else we can try? There’s CCTV covering the yard, but that doesn’t put them off at all, they stroll around the yard like they own it, and help themselves. Up until recently they’ve been smashing the locking caps, now they’re just undoing the standpipe and pulling it out and siphoning from there.

The local police come out each time, but they just shrug and give out a crime number. The worrying thing is that the boss is keen to catch them at it, but as he’s getting on in years my worry is that he’ll just get cracked across the head and left in a heap. I’m not sure whether a tripwire & loud alarm would help, or whether that would just bring him out and into harm’s way. He’s bought a tripwire system which will fire a blank shotgun shell / birdscarer arrangement, but don’t know whether that would encourage them to carry their own weapons if they though somebody was shooting at them?

Does anybody know of any gizmos or gadgets which would deter them at all? Preferably legal…

Gary

Lay in wait for them one night

Don’t buy blank cartridges!!! Buy live ones instead!

A big hungry dog … just mind put warning signs up

Alsations.

Take it your asking about gadgets to protect the tank? Well it doesn’t matter what gadget you buy the harder it is in the end the will just drill your tank.

You need to stop them getting onto the property that is the only gadget you need. Hire someone for a few weeks to be a night watchman, get massive motion sensor floodlights. If it was my own business and someone was risking that, personally i would lay in wait with a team of mates and sort them out with a claw hammer to the face.

Electric fence, also get ADT out for fast response security…

it comes down to putting his hand in is pocket, if he really wants to stop it… a good security company, either fully manned or mobile checks, there are alarms on the market that can be very quickly installed and will activate when a beam is broken, this can be connected to a cctv system and then the images can be seen in real time by a monitoring company and they can take the appropriate action,

dogs are brill but can be a minefield if they bite and someone takes you to court,

the best ive seen was a double fence, a walkway of approx 6 ft between the 2 fences all round the site, living in this space were about a dozen geese!

thank you madguy. and excellent guards dogs . not many will risk a set to with them there loyal and fear nothing including ■■■■■■

Before I started driving, I used to work in a warehouse in one of Glasgow’s many rough areas. They had a German Shepherd as a guard dog at night. We came in one morning to find the warehouse had been broken into and they got in right next to where the dog used to sit. The thieves obviously knew about the dog, so they brought a can of dog food and the biggest bone you ever seen to keep the dog happy while they went about their business.

I want one.
This is mine, alsation-rotty X, she loves playing hide & seek with the tinkers who seem to have an attraction with my back garden.

The problem with passive devices such as alarms. It’s that you’ll only find out the scrotes are on the premises after the fact & it’s too late to prevent them entering the site. Also by the time you’ve reacted to the alarm the scrotes are long gone. Measures preventing them entering the site and having a watchman are probably the best course of action
Guard dogs can easily be subdued with doped/poisoned food

i have the contacts to stop this.
pm me your email address for further details.

How about…wait for it…onsite security ? If it’s happening often then someone needs to have a think about how to stop it. Even if they get caught they wouldn’t get much more than a suspended sentence so I’d be more inclined to do something myself. All would be in self defence of course

I would along with others sleep in the truck in the yard and wait for the scum. I have never had fuel taken from me but they were the vain of my life when dealing with incidents in my last job that involves diesel theft

Maybe worth having a static caravan on site. leave the lights on, leave the TV on loud, and make sure it shows that someone maybe in there. Still think a group of drivers waiting in trucks with the curtains pulled till they arrived and beat the crap out of them

the problem with that is, if the criminals make an official complaint to the police that you assaulted them, then you would be in more trouble than they would :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

True but at least they have been dealt with. You know what the courts are like with these people

if they do a propper job, then they won’t be able to make a complaint. no point in doing half a job.
