What do you define as “running bent” if i may ask? There seems to be a broad spectrum of understanding of that phrase nowadays. Here in Canada for example we might consider going a few hours over our time as slightly dodgy, yet on trucknet I’ve recently seen people describe legitimate 15hr spreads as ‘running bent’ or tipping off card as such, which in my opinion is completely ridiculous. So what did Lunns have you do, or ask you to do that was so bad? I’m presuming we’re talking pre-digital tacho days here?
yes was pre didi tacho on 1 occasion was told to go from flx to hull sit in office for 7 hrs while new clutch was put in,then take trailer to south side of b’ham tip, teturn to hull, change trailers return to flx on 1 card with no 9 hr break, cant be done legit told him so,he said it could so told him to come to yard to get unit and do it himself and went home, just 1 example

I would hope so. Posting a message gloating that drivers have lost their jobs is trolling by anybody’s standards.

Fair enough, your opinion is your opinion and we’re all entitled to have our say on here. What will get the thread locked and deleted though isn’t your opinion but rather the bad language and name calling thats flowed in both directions between yourself and some of the other people contributing to this thread.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is an “■■■■ retarded friend”? Whatever it maybe, it’s one of the most comical/childish responses to a post on here I’ve ever read.

Imagine if you were a criminal and allowed to appoint your own policeman to investigate your crimes: that’s what happens when directors appoint an administrator.
It is not, and never has been the job of an insolvency “administrator” to investigate anything, apportion blame/responsibility or in any way point fingers at anyone.
Yes it is. They are supposed to ensure no malpractice has taken place. I have this in writing from both the Kent Police and the Insolvency Service. If you know different, do tell us your source.

If anyone is fluent in the language of this ■■■ could they please translate? I got the bit about him finding a lot of people out of work funny although he admits to not working himself, Does that mean his life’s a joke too?
Ta very much!

He is trolling.
Writing controversial content to invoke a reaction.
He may be happy that his former employer has gone to the wall but…

I think you’re being a bit naive if you think the world isn’t going to run, to some degree, on nepotism, backhanders and a nod and a wink. Met Police officers took envelopes of cash off NoW journos themselves.
The other thing with people moaning about directors starting up again is they are just employees of the ltd co the same as the drivers albeit in a director role. There’s nothing to stop them using money they’ve been paid previously to start again, it’s their money and, unless they’ve got personal guarantees, there’s no obligation to use it to prop up the previous failing business.
If these companies had started up 18 months ago and were calling in the receivers then walking away and starting again on a rinse and repeat cycle there might be a issue or story but companies like this one have been going a decade or often much, much longer and they’re going bust in the worst recession the country has seen for a generation, there’s no real surprise or story and I don’t think a lot of time or public money should be spent on it where it’s clearly long established businesses not fly-by-nights. There’d be more benefit investigating something like training brokers.

Euro:
Why did they go bust?
Trying to win new business by undercutting rates?
Being undercut by competitors?
Not keeping expenses under control?
Had their tick revoked?
Over half the people in this country are insolvent (owe more than they have), but “continued access to fresh tick” allows them to pretend they are not.
I don’t take out loans or use credit cards. My mortgage is my only outstanding debt, because I’ve long since given up on unsecured credit for the fiddle it all is.
This forces me to live within my means, so if I don’t have the cash in my pocket, I go without. I’ve put on weight this past year, so it can’t have been that hard methinks.

Totally agree people in this country have borrowed and lived above there means for far to long
As for firms goin under in my eyes it means there business model failed weather it be haulage company’s or retailers like comet
If an athlete fails to win a gold medal in a race it’s because he hasn’t trained hard enough and kept up with the competition is a simpler way of lookin at it
I feel sory for all that have lost there jobs and hope they pick themselves up

As Spinoza so rightly taught, “What Peter tells us about Paul says about Peter than it does about Paul”
