i was taking 588 home for 5 days tramping 65hours of work.and that is not too much.so i qiut.Truck me, I take that home with no nights out Monday to Friday on basic hours

If you believe half of what you read on here mate your eyes need a good screw too. Half this lot are either 1 user name rolled into 3, the wildly exaggerating sole traders (nett/gross - a mere trifle), or walting star gazers living champagne dreams on a beer budget.

There are plenty out there that do my mates take home is £550 a week. He works same company as me been there longer but that’s every week 6 am to 4:30 Mon -Fri half day every other sat but that’s until 11 am.

A lot of people on here have a problem with gross and nett. Especially the self employed agency braggers who like to quote gross pre tax dodge invoice figures as “pay”
The figure I’m quoting is after tax and ni deductions. Maybe he should give a few skip firms a call.

I take home at least 2200 a month driving a rigid tanker (55-60hours) I do about 5 nights out a month. The job involves being on call so sometimes I can get up to 2600 if i have had some call outs to attend. Very dirty and hard graft though with lots of heavy lifting of manholes covers etc. And we spend more time working than driving. For this reason we don’t have a lot of drivers queuing up for a job as a lot of people prefer to be nice and warm in the cab 
Thanks for the responses so far. Seems likely that I could earn a bit more if I get lucky but also that there wouldn’t be much difference to my pay if I was to find a job on say supermarket work where I’d be home every night.

Yep as touched upon there are plenty of run of the mill jobs and some real cream ones, a lot equate to less hours but harder dirtier work for comparable money to those working long hours but doing very little and keeping clean.
Theres tramping which isnt everyones cup of tea and many consider the pay vs hours as a joke, I dont though as it suits me down to the ground.
Landing a cream job isnt easy but theres always a chance luck, fate, karma etc may pay you a visit and present an opportunity. Till then try and pick a sector of this industry you will at worst tolerate and at best enjoy even though lads and lasses you work with can make work a bit more pleasurable.
Anyway good luck but must dash as I got back late last night and cant remember where I parked the wifes ■■■■■. If its anything like the time I had to hunt for her clitorus its going to be a very long day.

I aint saying what my take home is because basically it’s got ■■■■ all to do with anybody. Neither do I really give a one what anybody else earns as I aint a curious, or jealous for that matter, sort of guy.
A few on here are on real good money, and good luck to them I say, especially if they are doing relatively jack all to earn it.
Others THINK they are well paid, but if they break it down to what their excessive hours are for earning it,… their hourly rate is ■■■■ poor, and even worse if they consider their night out SUBSISTENCE 
as their wage.
In my case I’ve done the job so long, that I was just totally ■■■■■■ off with trucks and transport in general, …and especially working the excessive hours that are deemed to be acceptable, reasonable, and not only legal but considersed to be condusive with road safety in year 2000+
Say wtf you like they are too long in REAL terms, whether you are happy with them or not!
Anway what I did was tell the boss I was ■■■■■■ off , and going to either jack my job and go on the… wait for it …shock horror Agency and work when it suited me (■■■■ all this submissive crap towards them )
Or I would see if he would be willing to cut my hours down to 4 days and a Sat morning, and he kindly agreed.
So now I still do my 4 nts out, do 4 days 40hrs basic + overtime and Sat am on overtime rate. I head out to Cornwall on a Wed with about 10 drops, reload fri evening, head back.
By the time I get back to yard at lunchtime, wash truck and car and generally ■■■■ about, I’m home for about 2 or 3 pm, with a 2 and a half day weekend every week to spend with the Mrs 
The rest of them can rush about and work their ■■■■■■■■ off if crazy enough, I simply don’t care.
What I take home suits ME for what I do…everybodys happy.
Maxing out, for megabucks, early starts, weekended abroad, going like ■■■■ as an o/d and all the rest of that crap, I’ve been there, done it, t.shirt AND hooded sweatshirt…not ■■■■ interested any more. admittedly I have looked at other jobs and even asked out of curiousity, but realistically ok where I am for now.
