I work near there il keep an eye out for a man in a austin maxi shouting at bycycleists
If I was you I’d be keeping a look out in the nearside mirrors including when entering a roundabout. But don’t blame me if you then end up with a motorcyclist buried in the offside having missed the undertaking cyclist who could have used the pavement on the nearside.Unless that is you’re able to look right and in the nearside mirrors at the same time.
beetee07:
It’s all well and good banging on about cyclist being on the pavement but the accident happens on a junction on a slip road so no pavement available.
Perhaps curryfart should get in his car and do a bit of research. JMO
With those powers of observation you should be working for TFL .
The collision actually happened at the junction while the truck was turning left at the roundabout not on the slip road while inconveniently for your view there’s actually more bicycles on the pavement,at the relevant place when google maps visited the place, than on the road.

If that’s the case as you say how come the tent covering the body was in the middle of the Road and at least a third of the way down the slip road.
Just for your info I was there obviously you wasn’t so posting a news link is as about much use as a chocolate tea pot.
Just so you know I was actually sitting on the flyover so had a good view.
Which part of the collision took place ‘at the roundabout’ caused by ‘a truck turning left’ don’t you understand. While it doesn’t take a genius to realise that the place where the truck came to rest, together with the wreckage which was dragged along by it,isn’t going to be exactly where the collision took place.Although having said that there is obviously sufficient pavement space for use by cyclists in all directions at and from the entry point of the roundabout in question.
beetee07:
Curryfart you are a ■■■■ you wasn’t there you didn’t see anything so just keep banging on about your pavements but no one is listening anymore.
So because you were there and saw the aftermath of a truck v cyclist collision from a flyover you think that makes you more qualified in providing an accurate account in regards to exactly what happened and all the relevant issues concerning such collisions.
Yes I keep on about cyclists using the pavements in just the same way as pedestrians in situations such as this one.No one has ever listened to my knowledge so yet more casualties and news reports.TFL’s and the cyclists bs idea of cyclists using the roads at all costs obviously isn’t working according to the news reports.
I had just started to read this thread and as soon as I read about loved ones deceased as being squashed, flattened as early as page 1, then I tend to not bother reading no more!
Do you not think them families will try and do something in memory of their loved ones.
They will google truck cycle saftey which more often than not brings them to a truckers forum.

Well done folks
Hopefully anyone who’s suffered as a result of such issues would realise that they shouldn’t go anywhere near any such discussions as this because for them it’s too late and any such discussion would only make that suffering worse, just like the news reports and photographs of the scene.
These types of discussions ( should be ) all about making the point as realistically as possible to concentrate minds of those who’ve not ( yet ) been involved or suffered in such circumstances and those who are ( should be ) in a position to ( try to ) cut the casualty rates in future in regards to those who aren’t ( yet ) part of those statistics.
Maybe harsh but with good intentions which hopefully might just save others from such circumstances in the future.

Are you for real?
Any family who has had suffered a loved one taken away early may it be drugs, murder, road fatalities, soldiers in conflict etc
They tend to find a cause to raise funds for to try and stop said things happening to other people!
You are now saying families of deceased should not enter discussions on the cause of death, of why that family member might not be here no longer?

After reading this then maybe they will then focus their campaign on educating cyclists not to ride up the inside of large vehicles.
Nothing will change though.

Do I need to post the link of a cement lorry with faulty indicators killing a female doctor
Have any of you posting on this thread been involved in a fatal?
For the record I have (pedestrian) and “what if” “maybe” “should I have” plagued me for years and NO it was not my fault but I suffered this trauma (I also knew the family of casualty) so much I never drove more than a car for ten years.
You can not and should not lay blame to anyone without facts, fine, dispute road layouts and the like.
I agree bike are a pain in the posterior but we have them like piles and have to live with them like traffic planners
Some crud you might change, some just sticks

So you really can’t understand the totally unacceptable nature of a case which is effectively saying to the family of such statistics if they’d have stayed on the massive pavement off the road they’d probably still be here instead of going under the wheels of a truck with obvious results.
When that case is ‘actually’ meant for and directed at those who haven’t ( yet ) become a similar statistic.
Which in my view beats any bs ‘fund raising excercise’ which would do nothing whatsoever in trying to reduce the statistics.Which is ( would be ) entirely acceptable.
As I said for those who’ve already become or who are involved with those statistics it’s all too late and they need to start on the process of letting go not adding to their suffering by getting involved now.

It’s a two way thing!
Without doubt it’s a two way thing.
But out of 100 truck vs bike cases, I bet it’s 90/10 in the trucks favour.
Anyway, in your cement mixer/doctor incident, was she or was she not up the inside of the mixer when he turned left?
Granted, the indicators were defected and shouldn’t be on the road in the first place but still.

So we agree somebody was legally on the highway and another somebody wasn’t?
Every one wants an answer and every one wants a reason, “Never the twain shall meet” the issue has sides that are at the very least a long way apart but what ever the compromise the gap will never close as per the quote.

It’s no good being right but dead.In the case of staying back and not undertaking any vehicle but especially trucks and buses it makes no difference wether the indicators are on or not.Unless that is someone wants to bet their life on a few bits of wire and a few bulbs.Or on wether the driver has remembered to indicate or not.Or wether the driver has seen them undertaking in the mirrors before moving over to the left for whatever reason such as in the case of passing someone turning right in which case there’s no need to indicate anyway.

You really seem to struggle to answer simple questions don’t you! I asked you why should folks who have suffered tragic incidents of loved ones being taken away should not discuss the exact topic which caused said incident.
WFT has you above post got to do with that question!!!
And as I’ve said I’ve provided a clear answer to that simple question. It’s not my fault if it’s beyond your intelligence level to understand that answer.
