Now you’re falling into the trap of making assumptions Carryfast, about my experience. Put it this way, if it came down to a ‘who’s willy is the biggest’ competition on who’s driven large vehicles in Central London most, you’d probably lose.
Whatever.
Blimey what are you, 15?
Your problem is you are offensive so no one listens. Plus you’re often preaching to the gallery. I think their is a massive problem that needs to be solved by TfL mostly, so our views aren’t that different. Well I assume, I read very little of your offensive posts. If you’d read my blog post you’d see what I think. Its even got a video in it. Maybe I can have the honour of being added to the Carryfast Presidential YouTube Library…
Nothing new there then. You’ve admitted that you’ve not read my posts but you’re saying that their offensive anyway even though you’ve not read them.
If you think that it’s offensive to say, that anyone who would rather ride a bicycle on the road amongst trucks,at the location in question, and anyone who marks out the road to facilitate that,is suicidally insane, bearing in mind the mile wide empty pavement that could be used instead there, that’s your problem. As for TFL the road layout in question seems to be what would be expected from their level of intelligence which is about the same as the cycling lobby that they’ve based their road planning policy on.No surprise that you seem more than happy to put your trust in such a stupid typical PC London local government department that should actually have it’s powers removed and be closed down.
Ive read enough to know they are offensive. You only need to read one of your posts on each topic, you just repeat the same thing over and over for days subsequently. The fact is people like you are the problem, not the solution. You might have the best ideas in the world, but wrapped up in the childish inflammatory language you use no one listens, least of all cyclists. But you’re too stupid to realise that. Thankfully you haven’t the balls to actually spout your crap anywhere but a truck drivers forum so the image of drivers wont be dragged any lower. By someone who hasn’t driven a truck this century. You’re just another clueless fool shouting in the dark my 15 year old friend.

Obviously my,in your view retarded, level of intelligence ( common sense ) is a lot better than that of the PC bunch of idiots who run TFL and their cyclist lobby supporters. The real clue less fools are those who painted that cycle route on the approach to and across the roundabout in question and those who choose to use it instead of the pavement.
Muckaway:
So whos’ tipper was it then? Nice change for it not to be Keltbray.
S Walsh same as keltbray pay peanuts get monkeys. Any man who has more than 3 months tipper experince driving one of there motors does so as they are a knucle draging unemployable ■■■■■■■■
2 examples any tipper driver will understand is a no no i have witnessed in the last week aline are one atempting driving across an area of a landfill site a D8 driver made a tactical retreat from after getging stuck and he had watched this.
The other 3 or 4 tipping and driving across the tip at about 20mph with the bodys fully raised and not even bringing them down as they drive across the tip.
I witnessed an 8 wheel mixer ■■■■ it’s back wheels in the air last week on a roundabout, actually saw air underneath the tyres and I thought it was going over. Some of the driving you see is appalling.
Carryfast:
it wouldn’t fit their agenda of their continuing their ‘rights’ to use the road.
If they wanted rights to use the road, they should pay some road tax.
Of course you already know that there’s no such thing as road tax. Of course, you also know that it’s actually called Vehicle Excise Duty, and of course you know that along with other “zero emission” vehicles, bicycles are rated at zero for VED purposes. And you also know that the roads are funded from general taxation. So bicycles do pay “road tax”, when all’s said and done.

Actually, you may be right with this point. I’ve seen so many cycle lanes that put cyclists on the outside of roundabouts, all around the edge and right in danger from vehicles coming off the roundabout. This is why, when I was doing a lot of urban cycling, I completely disregarded such “facilities” and took up the lane I needed to be in as if I was driving a car. I appreciate that you would have simply dismissed me as a “suicidal idiot” and squashed me, but the vast majority of motorists seemed to understand what I was doing and gave me plenty of space. That’s how to ride safely on the road: no need to terrorise pedestrians on the pavement at all.

The reality is more likely to be that a line of trucks and cars is already sitting at the roundabout waiting to enter it and is then subjected to the typical cyclist idea of doing whatever it takes to keep moving usually involving undertaking of the standing traffic with the blue painted lines just being there to ( try to ) facilitate it.
In this case we’re talking about an effectively empty mile wide pavement with a lot more room, safely away from motor traffic, for cyclists to navigate the hazard in just the same way as pedestrians, than they’ve got using the road space regardless how they choose to use that road space.
As for cyclists terrorising pedestrians on shared pedestrian/cycle ways that’s obviously a problem which cyclists and the laws which ( should be there to ) govern their use of such provision would need to deal with.Although that would of course require a total change in the bs PC idea that cyclists can do no wrong.
bazza123:
Whatever you feel Carryfast, the simple fact is that unless a designated cyle lane exists, it is an offence to ride on the pavement.
.
Yeah right. So TFL and their raving cyclist lobby supporters decide to paint a cycle lane down the inside of non existent road space assuming there’s a bus/es or truck/s waiting to enter the roundabout.Instead of marking out the pavement for shared pedestrian/cycle use.
What an entertaining read this is. We’ve got some people killed. Whether they were right or wrong, they’re still just as dead. People have said before and I’ll repeat it, that there are some loonies on bikes as well as behind the wheel. I’ve seen some diabolical driving of lorries and buses as well as cars. We’ve all seen motorbikes being ridden between two lanes of traffic, even when it’s moving at a fair old lick. We’ve all seen pushbikes being ridden like crazy, but we’ve also seen the afore mentioned commercial vehicles being driven badly. Everyone seems to have a need to be there first nowadays. It’s the same here in Oz, but our roads are in general a bit wider. All the bloody nonsense that’s talked about the heavies being banned from cities, no matter what time of day they’re talking about would backfire on the silly buggers straight away, but they know they’re safe, simply because economics wouldn’t allow it.
Now for carryfast: FFS shutup about riding on footpaths ! It’s already been succinctly pointed out that bikes and pedestrians don’t mix. People tend to wander about, change direction (they don’t have mirrors or indicators) stop suddenly, about face cos they’ve just remembered something, kids run around, etc, etc. A lot of footpaths are barely wide enough to contain the people that are walking on them, where would you put the bikes ? and bear in mind, that these places where the footpaths are crowded are likely to be the places where there’s traffic / bike congestion too. I haven’t lived in England for a good few years, but I have spent most of my working life driving Lorries and buses: the buses in heavy traffic most of the time, so I do have the experience to comment even though a work accident forced my retirement a few years ago.
This is not a new thing. Back in about 1969 (I think) I sat and watched a bloke on a pushbike go under the tandem trailer wheels of the artic in front of me on a left turn. When I was in my car in a line of traffic at lights, another bloke on a bike came flying up the nearside, misjudged how close I was to the kerb and jammed himself in between me and the path, so as I say, it’s nothing new.
My condolences to the families of the people that have been killed, but trying to put bikes on footpaths simply ain’t going to work ! Training, education, common sense and a bit of thought and consideration will.
I think I feel better after a rant. I’ll have another when the wife gets home.

If bikes and pedestrians don’t supposedly ‘mix’ then how is it that there is already plenty of shared pedestrian/cycle way provision. The fact is bicycles and pedestrians mix a lot better than bicycles and buses and trucks especially in this case if you haven’t seen the road layout. So bearing in mind the stakes being people’s lives I’d suggest it’s you who needs to shut the zb up.
… oh, never mind. If you want to know what I think, go back and read - actually read - my posts in this thread, make an effort to understand my arguments and come back with a reasoned counter argument. Until then, I can’t add anything more to this.
Although, it’s interesting that on another thread you wrote:
You’re right about the driving standards of bus drivers. They can be identified as mainly not having a clue when it comes to judging the width of the things and therefore not being able to keep inside the dividing line on their own side of the road or drive between tight obstructions accurately and safely, total lack of speed awareness when approaching hazards like stale green traffic lights and pedestrian crossings and obstructions like parked vehicles, and like many truck drivers lack of use of mirrors.
Now, if you’re willing to concede that many truck drivers don’t use their mirrors as effectively as they should, can you not see how training drivers to keep an eye out for cyclists (in parallel with training cyclists to avoid certain areas around a lorry) might be effective in helping to prevent cyclist deaths on the road? And consequently, how “use the (yawn) mile wide pavement” is not the only answer?
Rhythm Thief, you’re wasting your time. If he was on the table to have a circumcision, the surgeon couldn’t do it cos there’s no end to the prick. The only thing he’s any good at is putting stupid smilies up.

I never called your intelligence retarded. Or your common sense. Both completely different things btw. All I was saying was if you want people to listen stop using inflammatory language, that’s all. Cyclists dont listen to lorry drivers because we just throw blame around and call them names. And vice versa. Hence nothing gets done.
Ive said this before and I’ll say it again with a bit of effort you really could do some good. You have the time on your hands to make things change. Sort out your language, be more diplomatic and you could make a difference. No one has an excuse not to now in these days of the interwebs.
beetee07:
It’s all well and good banging on about cyclist being on the pavement but the accident happens on a junction on a slip road so no pavement available.
Perhaps curryfart should get in his car and do a bit of research. JMO
With those powers of observation you should be working for TFL .
The collision actually happened at the junction while the truck was turning left at the roundabout not on the slip road while inconveniently for your view there’s actually more bicycles on the pavement,at the relevant place when google maps visited the place, than on the road.
