Totally agree,
Public beheading is the only way, but only if the person Wielding the axe is a driver who has never made a mistake.
Then whom would wield the axe my friend…whom?
Me, it’s well known I’m Europes finest driver. I never make mistakes…
Well maybe, but at least you drive Europe’s finest truck, (please note, this is the view of the poster and should be taken as such) so sharpen that axe you’re about as close as we’re going to get.
Oh! By the way does Public Beheading for motoring offenses sit well with your pinko lefty views?
ought to be strapped to the buggering stool and publicly buggered in m&s shop window

No need to involve the Police or judicial system here, after just two posts on TruckNet we know exactly how it happened and what the penalty should be.

I hope the firm who are recovering the bin wagon told the council they only go down that street once every two weeks, and that they’ll need the truck putting in the correct position to be recovered or they’ll just leave it.
If anyone is worried about parking with lights on due to battery life then you might be worth popping into Aldi or looking on the internet for a set of bike lights. I got some for £4. They only need to be set to flash and with being LED these days they are good with batteries. You only need one stuck on the offside of the truck. Only problem is people nicking them !

Not legal KD. Need to be lit continuously and all position markers must be lit, but to be fair you’d probably get away with it if you had 4 bike lights and they were set to continuous light.
Of course if the unit & trl has all LED’s anyway, shouldn’t need to worry.
TTX boy:
you dont need to leave lights on in a 30 mph zone.
oh yes you do
but, would it make a difference if it is a private industrial estate, making the roads “private”? because alot of them are!
The lighting requirements do not apply on private land. i.e an unadopted road not maintained by the public ■■■■■. These private estates usually have a gate house and barrier.
(and most won’t allow overnight parking).
Also bear in mind a lay-by is part of the highway unless there is a physical separation.

yeah but come on Harry, of course it’s the bin drivers fault.
So the dustcart’s brakes were working perfectly when you and VOSA inspected them?
Oh never mind, someone get a rope and find a tree, the driver had a fair trial here and he should face the music!
Yes the brakes are working fine because if they weren’t, then the driver would have spotted this when he was doing a brake test as part of his daily checks before he took the lorry out on the public highway
Bin drivers & Daily checks (in the same sentence )
I worked for Serco for a year as a working foreman & found very few that would even check their lights were visible, after ‘Rally Driving’ on the landfill, we often had to point this out to them before they left the yard in the morning. It’s amazing how many would pick up their keys & be driving through the gates within 5 minutes (must be ‘Speed Checking’ the vehicles)
There’s only one thing on a Bin Drivers mind " To get finished as soon as humanly possible" & 2 positions on the throttle-Flat out or stop.
We had 2 dustcarts recovered from the landfill with their rear suspension in bits, where they were being driven like the Dukes of Hazard’s ‘General Lee’ literally taking off over the bumps, the drivers came back pleading “Dumb & did’nt know what happened” it still amazes me how they kept their jobs. (Bad Management, that’s why I left, lost confidence with the Management)

Hmm, I would beg to differ on the 4 bike lights bit if it is not legal. If i have my car lights on and turn the indicator and turn the ignition off, my car has parking lights, but only the offside of the car is lit.
It’s also legal for a bicycle to have a flashing light set so why not a parked vehicle ? If the bike had no lights then he would be totally illegal.
Skips and cones have ‘flashing’ orange lights when it’s dark.
There is another side to it, how many times have you taken your foot of the gas when you see a parked vehicle (with lights ON) on a pitch black road and just for a second you can’t fathom out whether it’s moving or what’s going on with it !

Sorry, don’t follow what you’re saying.

Unless you put the indicator switch to left, then only nearside parking lights will be lit
Think it was mostly Vauxhalls that did this?
There is no provision in the uk for their legal use, although you could use them where the limit is 30 or less - even though it wouldn’t be necessary.

Correct, a fairly recent change in the law after LED’s became more popular on bikes allows for this.

Skips and cones aren’t motor vehicles

Laws are not made around what drivers might think.
