Another one lost

RIP drive…from a colleague from another 3663 depot.
does anyone know which depot this poor driver was working for?

It’s not the first time I say because it’s true. Life to me is more important than manoeuvrability, payload, ease of the job & other such balls you say…!

Would young Mandy still be alive had she been in a day cab…■■?

R.I.P to the poor sod in that smash, also condolences to his family, friends and workmates, but what’s this about Mandy. I’ve been a bit sick lately and haven’t been watching, so is it true or what ?

Is what true? I was just trying to put my point across, this topic is not in connection with Mandy I don’t think try search for the M1 thread to find out the latest…

The way I read it pimpdaddy inferred that Mandy may not have survived had she been in a day cab.

That’s kind of what I’m trying to say, just my assumption-I talk ■■■■■■■■ so…

The driver was from severnbridge depot. I only know this as I also work for 3663 and have seen the email from head office naming the driver and offering condolences to his family.

R.I.P

You talk a complete load of ■■■■■■■■ and I’ll explain why you’re so wrong in very simple terms, so read and learn :open_mouth:

The only time a sleeper cab would protect you is if the impact is to the rear of the cab, that way the deformation of the cab structure will have absorbed a lot of energy before it smashes you forwards into the steering wheel and dashboard.

Valid point but I don’t think it’s the only time/scenario it’ll save your bacon, you might not be pushed into the wheel/dash if the cab comes off it’s mounts…

Pimpdaddy:
RIP drive…
I blame the day cabs, employers are too tight to buy quality safe kit…

So what you are saying is that 90% of class 2 and 7.5 ton vehicle should be banned as they are day cabs. I have
read some rubbish on trucknet but you are in another league. Please explain how sleeper cabs are safer do you jump
in the bunk just before impact.A sleeper cab is attached to the chassis the same way a day cab is .

Is there as much interior space to move about in a day cab as a sleeper? NO…!!!

Not if your wearing your seatbelt

Just to put this to bed, as soon as I arried back in the UK, I called one of my colleagues and was told that the driver (who I will not name on here) was definitely from our Basingstoke depot, we also had a mailshot giving the details of length of service etc. He was not very old and anybody involved in multi-drop knows that it is not a job for a skiver. He was on his way round to start his day off at RAF Northolt and suffered a fatal heart attack and hit the bridge on the limiter, as witness reports said there were no brake lights etc. The service will be taking place at Aldershot Crematorium this Wednesday. RIP driver, from all of us at 3663/Bidvest

did’nt know you drive but R.I.P. mate.

Ah sheit, rip indeed, glad he never took anyone with him at least :frowning:

Indeed…the number of fatalities could have been far greater, along with all the other problems a crossover causes…and not to mention the amount of slagging off us ‘lorry drivers’ would have got from the press/public. A few questions have been raised about the incident, one or two in particular, one is obvious from the picture, the other is obvious from one of my posts

Speed’ing, so to speak you mean, or similar ■■

The use of cruise control is ‘apparently’ being questioned and may end up being ‘disabled’ on our fleet

Hopefully other companies will not follow suit then, for the 0.0001% of accidents this plays a factor I would hate to see it have a detrimental knee jerk reaction industry wide, the thought of driving 600k’s a day without it turns my stomach, the good old bit of wood might have to go back in the bag otherwise

^^ This

I can remember doing a run to Aberdeen from Manchester in a truck without cruise control, and spent 1/4 of the journey scouting the cab for something to wedge on the pedal, and 3/4 of the journey with it wedged there.

Cruise control is safer
