I’m sorry if this is out of order but looking at the pics I don’t understand what it how it’s happened? Had the motor ran up the embankment and hit the side and the body fell off or something else. I feel for the poor lad and his family but I’m puzzled. Sorry again.

Just to clarify, from my full post, I’m comparing that to ‘wedging the throttle’ like we have done in the past.

ie, if you hit the brakes, the cruise disengages, unlike a wedged throttle

Is it just me or is the above post a load of insensitive ■■■■■■■■?

Poor lad had been off work for a while through illness and had to return too work as his sick pay had been stopped (long story about his illness so won’t bore you with it). Two of our trucks were heading for West London/Middlesex area when the driver of the first motor had the heart attack and died at the wheel. Obviously being on cruise, the truck kept going until it hit something. It veered slowly to the left, demolished a sign before climbing the bank and hitting the bridge at top speed. His mate following watched it happening right in front of him and is now off sick. The impact snapped the bolts holding the body to the chassis, sending the loaded body into the rear of the cab. All the trucks (i’ve been told) are having these bolts checked and the early signs are that ‘a large number’ of the trucks at one depot have bolts that are showing signs off ‘stress’ and are cracked, and have to be replaced immediately…and these are on 60 plate motors!
