well done russjp, ive been following your progress from the start and its good to hear you passed. Best of luck job-hunting if thats your plan, im just two weeks into my new job, having passed class 1 four weeks earlier so there are companies out there who will take you on.

Well, a quick piece on my Allinson`s interview which was a bizarre experience - was invited into the boardroom and sat opposite the gent who was interviewing me.
At this point he told me he`d had 24 applicants but only 3 of them were worth interviewing and out of those 3 , mine was by far, the best application - all very positive - i thought he was going to propose at one point
He then went on to explain rates of pay,holidays etc and then went into great detail about the job and also said if i got my class 1 done i would be moved onto them in the first 6 months. This was fantastic !!!
I asked a few questions in general and then the interview was done - the gent then said - here is my phone number if you need any other information, have the weekend to think about it and i`ll speak to you then.
Since then i`ve left him 2 messages on his phone and had no reply back 
so a job which looked a dead cert has failed to materialize - very bizarre

It was a direct dial number to get straight through to him that he gave me - ive left the same messages with reception but still nothing - hey ho - i suppose thats just the way it goes sometimes - keep on tryin`
Been offered an assessment with stobarts so we`ll see what happens there and also have a couple more irons in the fire

Well peeps i thought id keep you all up to date with my situation - after 3 weeks of fruitless rejection by a large proportion of the north easts haulage companies ive finally been given a start at Reed Boardalls in two weeks time and before you all begin slamming them for all the bad points , i would ask that you take into account the fact that theyve given me a job when most other places wouldnt even give me an assessment drive.
Whilst i`m not totally green and have a few friends already in the industry, this is a foot in the door and maybe a few of the hauliers who read this post should think twice about giving someone a chance when they knock at your door. I may not be starting with the most reputable company but it will get me the experience i need to move on to something better.
They took the time(after i totally ballsed my reverse) to give me a 2 hour reversing lesson this morning in order to grasp the basics of 90 degree reverses onto loading bays etc.
Ill be working 4 on 4 off which works for my current home situation and whilst the rates of pay arent astronomical,it will keep the wolves from the door.
I will keep you all posted as to how it goes and thanks for listening to my rant
