Agency vs regular

Winseer:
With full tax & insurance deducted, one wonders “Why bother then”?

It’s a shame you’re just that bit too late as there used to be someone on here that knew all the ins and outs of why working agency is so great.

jimjam150975:
I am in the middle working on agency tomorrow but got a full time job but normally when I work on agency every second weekend I get paid less per hour than my full time job :frowning:

…and there’s the reality.

Still, some on here will continue to claim that limping around picking up the scraps is a better way of life.

Bless 'em. :laughing:

Feeding the family sorry

Don’t be sorry. Some people do what you’re doing tomorrow full time. :open_mouth:

I have been reliably informed that the mystery of ’ agency limp ’ has been solved.

The issue is one of a small stone finding its way into ill fitting cheap safety boots. Taking spare laces out of Hi Tec trainers doesn’t help.

Isnt that what Bill and Ben wandered round the garden saying?

nightline:
No wonder the job is the way it is, if our life depended on it we could never stick together and make it a better job.
Agency=Driver.
Company=Driver.

conclusion=Driver

“spot On” ‘Divide and conquer’ is both company and government strategy. Nothing will be achieved unless we form a National drivers Union like in America.

Winseer:
If you compare like for like, then the kind of mistake that agency drivers make most often is a “procedural” one rather than a driving mistake.

Eg. mistakes with a different kind of paperwork at a new yard, a different H&S structure in a new yard etc etc.

The full timer might make mistakes based on their familiarity being broken by something unusual happening - which could be as little as “getting not their regular tractor” or “being wound up by someone you’ve got to put up with every day”. In other words, “forced errors”.

Out on the road though - I’d like to think all drivers are equal, given experience & qualifaction matched. Two 53 year old “Joe Average” drivers with a clean licence of umpteen years standing but one full time and one agency - I would expect to be very closely matched indeed.

Wise words indeed.
I have worked for firms and agency. as an agency driver, the hardest part is learning the procedures of the company you are working for, especially with the paperwork side of things.

Invariably, no one tells you ■■■■ all, you have to work it out yourself.
Being an agency driver, is I believe harder than being a regular, as quite often everyday you are working with new kit and new procedures.
All IMHO of course.

Or the product your delivering. Years ago on class 2 agency I got sent out delivering plumbing and bathroom stuff. I didn’t know that with every bath I delivered I should of been delivering ‘bath feet’ as well. No one told me baths had feet.

’ No one told me baths had feet '. Don’t worry about it pal.

Most agency workers don’t know baths exist at all.

Folk really should think before feeding you these lines Eagerbeaver…glad they don’t though !!! :laughing: :laughing:
Regards. John.

John,i hear you mate.

Its the fella inside my head-I cant control him.

LASHHGV:

Its alright, one one tells agency drivers they have more than 1 working foot too.

When I did a short stint on agency work, I found it was a great way to avoid getting involved in customer complaints, procedures etc. On Warburtons when shop staff asked “count up the gluten free 200g toastie loaves” I just pleaded ignorance and said “agency mate, I know white, brown and that’s it.”

Dipper_Dave:
Sure we have the cream of the crop agency folk on this forum who delusionally believe they can cut the mustard full time but untill they get a proper job to me they are just pretenders living phone to mouth

14 years and no proper job your driving must be hilarious,

Plugster:
most are on agency because they cant hold a regular job, and cant afford 23p for a bar of soap

See you folks. Been nice knowing you or at least some of you unlike the [zb] above. You two and contraflow can enjoy giving yourselves a reach around without me…

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: ,sorry Connor I didn’t know you were getting grief mate ,if I’d of realised I’d of been a long to support you ( assuming my posts would pass moderation ) ,least I could do after all the things you’ve done for me over the years ,help and guidance ,really gutted about this ,with you gone I don’t think I could carry on either ,think we need too stand together ,look after yourself pal,I’ll always be indetebted too you .

Poor old Lion-o’s getting on a bit and forgot to ask the eye of Thundera for sight beyond sight first.

Must be some agency back from working, when everyone else was on holiday, by now to wind up.
