Adblu in diesel tank

Don’t any of you “Billybigriggers” who’ve never made a stupid/silly mistake go to Avonmouth Truckstop in the dark looking fuel!!!

Filling a diesel tank with adblue is not a silly mistake, it is careless.

I’ll let you know what the law says in a few months!!![emoji6]

And what is the law going to say? That it’s ok to put adblue in a diesel tank? No one has mentioned It being illegal, it’s just something utter incompetent failures at life do.

Anyone who can’t even perform a task as simple as putting the correct liquid in the correct tank should have their licence revoked.

Ladies and gentlemen behold the ultimate Supertrucker that is “Adonis” Never made a mistake not EVER!!!  :unamused:

I think Adonis has a point though. The pumps/nozzles are different and they smell different, one smells of…well…diesel and the other smells of Urea (p1ss). We all make mistakes but on this level its a wonder some make it to the end of the week…
Thinking about it, as adloo is in essence urine it should be ok to take a ■■■■■ in the small blue capped tank…who’ll be the first to try it… :grimacing:

I don’t really make it a habit of sniffing the ends of fuel pump nozzles though!!! :astonished:

Suffice to say my “stupid mistake” is still sitting unloved and lonely in the corner of our local MAN dealer since early Jan.
So I’m guessing that with the “evidence” insurance company has gathered up with so many drivers who shouldn’t have a licence about Avonmouth there is quite a bit of “haggling” taking place to see who’s covering the bill!!!

In the workshop since January? How many parts do they have to replace? Serious question no sarcasm involved…

Nothing to do with parts.

There is a serious problem at Avonmouth Truckstop were I made my mistake ref add-blu pumps that should have sent me to the gallows according to Adonis.

There have been statements supplied from various drivers/wrecker companies and local truck workshops ref the amount of honest mistakes being made and nothing being done to rectify.
Avonmouth Truckstop/Keyfuels MAY have a case to answer but that remains to be seen.

With you. I take it your truck isnt being touched until the outcome of a possible court case?

I will take the 5th amendment on that one :exclamation: :exclamation:

Now I haven’t been to every truckstop or truck services in the UK/Ireland but as far as I’m aware it’s EXTREMELY rare for a stand-alone pump to have derv hose at one end and add-blu at other as I’ve stated on previous thread.

Well I’m going to hope that for the sake of common sense, the defense of the nozzles being different sizes holds up, as where will litigation end if it gets that bad? What happened is careless and mindless, nothing more…

Oh, but you do have have to go sit in the corner with dozy for a while!

In our yard, the tanks are separate from each other. You’d have to be world’s biggest moron to end up with adblue in the diesel tank. Unless, you drive one of our last two rigid Premium’s. The adblue and diesel tanks are right next to each other although the actual hole for the diesel is on the other side of the tank, away from the adblue hole. Our Scania’s have the tanks on opposing sides. You fill the adblue first provided no one has dumped a trailer in front of it (that is a massive bone of contention) then you fill it with diesel.

The problems@ Avonmouth have been going on for over a year or more.
According to the wrecker driver who towed me the 100m back to the MAN dealer his firm and two other wrecker companies are dealing with 3/4 add-blu balls-ups each WEEK!!!

Now to me that is costing A LOT of dough and the Truckstop and Keyfuels are turning a blind eye when a half dozen DIRT CHEAP noticeable stickers placed on the add-blu sides of the double-pumps would simply solve the problem!! !!![emoji52]
(It all started when the single BLUE add-blu pump couldn’t cope with demand and then it was decided to install “doubled-up” pumps to save space and MONEY!!!)

Somebody gotta make a stand.

BTW,
The “narrow gauge” filling nozzles aren’t really a get out clause as you’ll use these when filling truck@ regular service stations and some Truckstop/services Top. (Applegreen motorway services overhere)
Yes the blue collar gives it away in my instance but I’ve shown pics in the other thread it’s black with grease and anybody knows AM the lighting@ 6am Jan morn is PISH!!!

dvsa dipping tanks, I thought it were an hmrc issue ■■?

Probably heard they do in an RDC waiting room.

The DVSA will be with them, the DVSA pull you over…and I don’t sit in RDC waiting rooms

HMRC don’t need DVSA to pull you over they can stop you and dip on their own and can regularly be seen at various ports and MSA’s around the country.

HMRC has no legal power to stop a vehicle and if an HMRC bod comes to you while on a break, without a warranted police officer or a DVSA officer present, you are perfectly within your rights to tell him to bugger off. The only place HMRC can just turn up and insist upon the right to inspect is at the operating centre or at the ports.

I’m am absolutely astounded by this.

There is no excuse for putting the wrong fuel or adblue into the wrong tank at all. If you don’t know what your doing don’t do it.

The only way you can mix up a diesel pump with an adblue pump is by being a complete mindless imbecile or not paying attention to what you are doing.

The nozzles are a cometwlt different size and unmistakable as to which is which. As also said the adblue nozzle has a magnet which if not put into the adblue tank will not pump so unless the magnet was missing/damaged or not fitted should make it impossible to do so.

We have had drivers put red diesel into the adblue tank, coolant in the oil filler, coolant in the screenwash, screenwash in the coolant etc etc.

But an excuse of its a double pump it’s dark it’s 4am none of that is likely to end up as a ruling in your favour in a court in my opinion.

Simple way to avoid this is pay attention to what you are doing.

Oh and an adblue nozzle is way smaller than a standard forecourt fuel pump nozzle. I’d also suggest if you think they are the same size then go and get your eyes checked quickly.

mis-read thread title as Abdul in diesel tank

guy at my old work got a disciplinary for putting adblu in the diesel tank…he must have stood pressing it on and off for ages as the adblu dispenser only worked if the nozzle was in a tank…I never knew it was a magnet in the nozzle until reading here tho

When I was a lad, I got a job selling ice cream. On my second Summer, I was given a new student to train up. The first job in the morning, after checking the van over, was to fill up with petrol. I left the student to do that while I went into the office to collect my float. When I got back, I got the log book out and asked him how much he’s put in - it was less than a gallon…!!

After a bit of discussion, I found that he had taken the oil filler cap off the top of the rocker box and put the petrol in there. Luckily I hadn’t tried to start it up - who knows what would have happened?
