i’m 1 of the lorry drivers that travel that road weekly. why done u get yourself a cb set and drive them yoke on.these v8’s we drive dont sit well at 40mph.if u want to drive at 40mph so be it.why cant you 40mph drivers just not use your common curtiousy and signal to us when the road is clear ahead…when we go to overtake why cant yous take the foot of the pedel for abit and let us go by u safely.its yous that are more danger on the road than us 50-56 mph drivers…and what is it about yous that when it comes to a dualcarrage way yous can manage to put the speed upto 56 and not let anyone pass…thats is just pure thick. How did you get your LGV licence ?
by been a good little boy and fooling the man that tested me.what does it matter how i got it.u a drive and me a driver
Good job there isn’t a grammar test involved in obtaining said licence…
i’m so sorry about that Seany.i forgot that there is pricks like u on here that does nothing wrong…wait a minute…the name Seany…where did that come from.is it Sean and your sweet wee mama called her golden eye boy seany???or should that be spelled seanie…wheres the grammar in that name???wise up ya prick ya
ive been using the A41 up to whitchurch/chester from the M54, since 1987 a lot of the time at night, and its always had that reputation.
ive been down it on the limiter, at 40 and somewhere in between, i think it takes just as long at 50/56 mph as it does at 40/45 mph to get to the sainsbury’s roundabout at chester from the M54.
thats due to roundabouts slow wisemans tankers, edwards fridges, gro-continental and culina out of mkt drayton, and edge transport’s, decker but to be fair to him he always lets you go.
i tend to do 45/50 mph, i know all the overtaking spots as i used to drive fairly quickly along it, now i do my thing and let the bloke who wants to get on, get on.
its a bit of insurance having some-one in front setting the pace, and being first in the firing line so to speak.
the only poor driving i can think of is from a white fh what pulls a whey tanker, im sure he thinks he is in the 1950’s he does poodle along at his own slow speed but perks up when he see’s you coming ?
its a bit of a race track but the roads good enough and plenty of places to go past if you bide your time.
im still of the opinion there is only 15 mins saved going up the A41 to Chester versus going round M6 M56 ect.
i used it if going to holyhead or wrexham .

There’s no need to take the ■■■■ out of someone’s grammar, the Guy’s only putting his point across. (one that I don’t fully agree with)
If we start indicating for all the Speedy Gonzales to pass, what happens when they have a ‘Fatal’ & the Old Bill find a Dash Cam in their wagon with a nice little video of the rear of my trailer indicating for him to pass ! (I bet they would like a quick word with me)
Oh ! & just to keep the ‘Hero’ Lewis Hamilton’s amongst us Happy- I stick to 40 & often stay at 40 on the short duel sections as well. Prime example is the A420 Swindon-Oxford, (especially if there’s a line of traffic behind me)

In that case Martin you a considerate and courteous driver and I wish you well.

11 minates is all your taking off from using A41 to going up M6 /M56 on to A55 to holyhead.
Me and few other has timed this few times against each other one up A41 and one up M6 etc.
When you count all roundabouts and speed limits through likes of villages/built up area on A41 your gaining very little ahead.

Takes longer on the A41 if you stop at the Raven or the Midway.

Really , have you tried another gear at all ?. I’ve never had one that wouldn’t “sit well” at any speed

+1. And so funny too!
hiya did you know their are 5 speed detectors between the barracks at market drayton and the M54.
i bet not. and your still driving over 40mph…i did years ago and paid the price…40 mph max.
from chester to hilton park is 1 hour 45 on the motorway. from chester to the m6/m54 split is
via the A41= 1 hour 45 mins. i did that route for 19 years. speeding or legal the time seems the same.
its 22 miles further via the motorway.if you don’t know where the speed detector is don’t speed.

Totally agree and furthermore I would not encourage someone to overtake me and speed, therefore break the law. We should be doing the opposite and persuading other drivers NOT to speed. When I get to a dual carriageway I speed up to 50. If a driver wants to get past and he is on 56mph then he can but I will not be slowing down for him
Get out of my way.
I’ve got to earn my pay.
The speed limit’s too low.
You’re driving too slow.
Let me get past.
I don’t wanna be last.
44 tons, a heavy metal load.
Now you’re in front & I’ve been slowed.
I’m above the law, they won’t catch me.
I will just do 56 & keep taking the pee.
Here’s a straight bit of road, put the hammer down.
He’s only doing 40, oh what a clown.
Now I’m up to speed, I’m so cool.
Whoops ! A speed camera, now I’m a fool !

I actually know where Milkchurns is coming from here. There’s nothing wrong imo with following a guy who wants to do 40 on a s/c, I’ll happily sit all day behind him. The problems come when you reach a short stretch of d/c and they’re straight up to the limiter, then back down to 40 on the s/c. You can’t cherry pick which laws you’re happy to break and which ones you’re not. It’s just not cricket chaps!Remember…
But “cherry picking which laws you’re happy to break” is exactly what is being done by the “crack-on” brigade (yourself included, presumably). I’m sure none of you would condone exceeding the drink-drive limit - nor would you routinely exceed signposted 30mph limits by 10mph or more, or cheerfully drive for the odd hour or so past your permitted 9 or 10 hours when it is convenient to do so (or would you?). Perhaps you also carry on using tyres that are worn to less than 1mm of tread when it suits you? So you are also “cherry picking”. I suspect the reason you are happy to exceed the 40mph limit but not the other limits mentioned is that you perceive the chances of getting caught as being very low.
and who are you doing the speeding for? The likes of “thequidshop” who will happily let you speed and get their deliveries done a little quicker putting cash into their pockets. Do you know what they do when they get the majority of drivers speeding for them? They pressurise the drivers who don’t! This is why the drivers have such a bad deal in this country. There are always idiots who speed, commit tacho infringements and handball loads when they should be on a break netto? This only sets a poor standard for the rest of us and the employer is laughing all the way to the bank.
Slow down to the speed limits
Have your proper breaks
Follow the regulations: Secure loads etc. Next time they send me to POUNDWORLD at Normanton that truck does not move out of the yard until I see inside and check the load I am carrying then they can seal it back up!
No one thanks you for taking risks and VOSA only need to catch you and there will be no one stood there defending you. You will be on your own.
I’ve no idea why so many Irish boys are fond of that awful road. For me depending on destination it’s either Wrexham Shrewsbury Telford or Chester Nantwich. Can’t remember the last time I bothered with the A41

Any decent employer would want you to operate within the law.
I’m glad to see (from other threads) that you are seeking alternative employment, young Simon.
weeto:
Sorry? Who is gonna pull you when your keeping up with 2 other trucks? A copper would only be able to pull the lead vehicle!!!
Really? Reminds me of the time travelling down from Glasgow to the fish markets in London nearly 18 years back, I was pushing it at 60mph, when 4 Irish reefers rushed by as if I was stood still, within a minute or two they were out of sight. Approximately 10 minutes later a cop came by at a ridiculous speed and 30 minutes later I saw 4 Irish trucks all parked in a line on the hard shoulder of the 74 with the same copper at the head of he queue!
Then two years ago, I was heading South on the A41 early in the morning, I had luckily started early and was in no rush (thank him upstairs for a full bladder), when I noticed in my mirrors 3 trucks overtaking everybody in their way, as I went around a right hand bend , incredulously the lead truck came around the bend (after overtaking the lad behind me on the bend), he then stayed on the wrong side of the road until he was just behind me, as a car came off the roundabout ahead approx 400 yards he was still trying to overtake, then thought better of it and braked hard, locking up his trailer he pulled in behind me, with his mate still following him! As we exited the roundabout, the idiot could not have seen what was coming the other way, but blindly pulled out to overtake me, quickly followed by his fellow bulker and forcing me into the drain gully and likewise the oncoming car onto the low kerb as he approached the roundabout, a few seconds later a reefer overtook me to play “catchup” with the moronic duo, after many expletives later a dark grey BMW car came passed me like his a**e was on fire… Idiot! 3 miles later, that same dark grey BMW had pulled all 3 into a nice long layby!!
So be careful, when you say the cops can only pull the lead truck. I had a pretty wry smile on my face, on both occasions… Is there a moral to these stories, oh yes… The Irish still beat me to the fish markets and the bulkers overtook me at Jct16 M1 the second one just getting in front of me before they both shot up the slip road… Some people just don’t learn!
