the moon do appear to be the same size,just like God put them there for us.But for you,as an atheist,it is just a coincidence.I did actually sit down once,just for fun really,and with the limited mathematical knowledge I had,from my calculations,with the diameter of both of these spheres,and the distances,they are placed exactly in line ,so they appear the same size from our position,notwithstanding the relativley small variations in distances from planet earth due to rotations and so on.If you go to any other planet or moon within the solar system,you wont get this situation.It seems
The moon formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago, born out of a collision between Earth and Theia. Since its formation, it has been slowly inching away from Earth each year.
At this time, the moon is the perfect distance to appear the same size as the sun and block it out during an eclipse. As time passes, the moon will continue to get further away from Earth and so will not visually appear to be the same size.
