A religion question for Robroy, but will he give me a straigh

Robroy.
It is appropriate to donate money to a church if you are a member. If your football club didnt charge a membership fee,you would donate an appropriate amount. The pastor and elders dont get money from the government.
I was hoping to leave this thread as a permanent fixture ,with Bible verses offering hope.Sometimes people are faced with insurmountable problems that the world doesnt have any answers

Do you really think any of us actually read your bible verses - I doubt any of us do, a bit like CF & Winseers posts.

Corrected it for you: The Handlers don’t get money from the government

Just as I suspected. :unamused:
Next time you see a tattooist shop, pop in with this sketch,.see if he can sort you out.

You are insulting me.
Im not a sponger.I pay my way in life.

How do you define what classes as behaving decently?
We have the Bible.
Do you think its just what the majority of people class as decent behaviour?

“We have the bible” :unamused:

What? That book that says you can sell your daughter, or have yourself a concubine? And can hand that concubine over to a gang of rapists when it suits you? The book which also suggests that when voices in your head tell you to put your firstborn child on a sacrificial pyre that it is OK to do so?

Yes, we’ve already seen how you cherry-pick the bits that suit you from your “bible” so I know you’ve got some BS “reasonings” to combat the information I’ve quoted from the very book you claim is “the immutable word of god”, yet which is regularly selectively interpreted in an ad hoc fashion.

I’ve met people like you before, religionists who claim that, without an old book to tell the human race how they should behave, they will behave like monsters, I can tell by what you write that this is what you think too.

We rationalists have this thing we call “common decency”, it comes from our collective understanding of the type of society we expect to see. It is modified as the compassion of our society changes. You think gay people are damned to “hell”, most of us these days are ok with the idea that same-■■■ couples can be open, it wasn’t always like that but society is capable of evolving. You believe woman are there “to serve” their menfolk, we believe that woman are entitled to be treated with equality.

As free-thinking rational adults we make our own decisions on how to act and what to believe. You, on the other hand, are a poorly-educated and weak-minded individual who needs some dodgy American to “convert you” with their misinterpretation of an old book, and a series of “superiors” you call “elders” to tell you what to think and how to act in every conceivable situation.

I bet your elders are sick of hearing about the “sinners” of TruckNet, I imagine they say you should pity us because we’re “damned” and will suffer “an eternity of torture”. Whereas we look at your belief system and think “My God! I feel sorry for his subjugated wife and alienated children”.

:open_mouth: …You what??
Wind yer neck in…where/when did I say you were a sponger? :unamused:
I said you were a mug because that is what they are taking you for. :bulb:

Any experience I have had of churches are when they do a collection, if they are asking you for money otherwise,. they are taking the ■■■■.

Its funny, there are people in our church that make little or no contribution and others gossip about them not contributing and yet when you do contribute, then you are a mug,so youre damned if you do,damned if you dont.
If you use a church or any facility without paying anything,it means others have to pay more instead.A church cant continue to exist if there is no money. There are overheads that have to be paid.

So you are tipping up your wages, and others are not.
So WHO is the mug? :bulb:

I dont want to get into a race to the bottom with those who contribute little or nothing. Its like when you go into a shop, you have to pay more for shoplifters. That doesnt make you a mug.It just means you are paying for the service that you get which is the decent thing to do.
I knew this guy who was crazy about batman films, always going on about them but when the new one came out, would he go and buy the dvd or pay for it.No,he had to find free ways ti watch it.They are making millions…
I wouldnt do anything like that.If I wanted to watch it,I would pay.
I want the church to grow. Its not about trying to get away with paying nothing

Do you actually enjoy going to Church Sploom??

I think most people would want paying to go to church, in my case I can’t think how much money I’d want to endure such boring, uneducated and superstitious billhooks. If I do go to a funeral at a church, I politely wait outside.

Having said that, I go to Church on average once a week, fortunately I got all those visits in by the time I was 16 - before, like your daughter i escaped.

Yes,I love going. Its a great joy to worship the Lord.
But,if its not your thing,no one should try and force you to go.You live in a free country and you can use your time as you wish

Salisbury, Wells, Bath, Exeter, Gloucester and Worcester cathedral force people to pay in a funnel rope system with monosemic and unambiguous signs to explicitly indicate you to to pay.
Worcester staff physically block you to get money.

I used to enjoy meeting our Lord, even occasionally at his pub in Marazion.
He was well-liked locally and known affectionately as ‘Lordy’ sadly he died a few years ago.
Nice house he had too:-

I find using …what my boys call a ‘death stare’ followed by a stern ‘■■■■ off’ generally works for me in those and other situations . :bulb:

I went into Lichfield cathedral just to have a look inside and there was a box to donate money. The notice described how much it cost to keep the cathedral running.I cant remember how much it was but it was a hell of a lot, there was only some loose change in the box and a few fivers, nowhere near the figures they said they needed

Bath Gestapo on the main entrance are the worst, to avoid the guilt trip brigade I get in for free via the tourist shop.
For Gloucester use the back entrance to the cafe.

Im sure it would work. But that strategy wont work on judgement day.I hope you will be saved one day and put your faith in Jesus Christ. Then,on the day of reckoning, you can “skip the queue”

I told the money grabbers that I was Phill Schofield and the Mrs was Holly Willoughby to beat the queue by waving the press passes even though we aren’t trained journalists like they did at the lying-in-state of the late HM Queen.
