A Drivers Life

Mac12, cheggy - do you or have you ever tramped?? Would you like to explain how for the 11hrs I may be parked up I’m not free to do as I please, use facilities, use a toilet or have food !!

You may also like to explain the difference between 11hrs out & 11hrs at home? Lets assume you sleep for 8 of the 11hrs leaving 3hrs free. Lets assume the non tramper has a 30min commute to & from work, we are now down to 2 free hrs for the non tramper.

Care to tell us all how that 2hrs is so wonderfull & gives a much better life than the 3hrs the tramper has??

Should never knock what you haven’t done.

He seems to think tramping is about how many nights you spend away from home.
The time you’re away has nothing to do with tramping. Tramping is about what you are doing and where you’re loading from and to. I spend all week away but because I return to the same location to re-load each time I’m not tramping. The term tramping comes from the days of tramp steamers. Ships which loaded from a-b-c-d etc etc for many months before returning to point a.
A tramper on the rd does similar and many will not return to base on the same week that yhey leave.

Regarding the OP. Is this the same bloke who was taking the pictures of vehicles speeding and parking inconsiderately? Get a life

Mods please delete this thread it doesn’t help the trucknet community, it’s just posted purely to cause disruption.

god is this guy mentally stable? :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Do what makes you happy in life nightline,If you’re not happy with your lot change it,that’s what i’ve allways done (currently allways looking at what’s on offer on jobsites etc).personally i do’nt think i could hack being away from the home and kids all week but i do’nt knock them who do,it’s their choice and if they did’nt want to do it they would change their circumstances too, everybody’s different,if they werent it would be a boring old world.

Yes I have been away all week but never again my home life is to important. When you are parked up are you that free you can go to the doctor, bank, kids play at school, cut your lawn or paint the fence. When you are parked in your layby what toilet do you use? and no way is your food cheaper than at home. It must be one of the only jobs were you have to give up your human rights to do it. As I put how many bosses would do it?
On the day work I do very rare to just have 11 at home more likely to work 11 and have 13 at home

Look at the sad, “ban him crowd” It’s the internet FFS.

Hope this Helps

Its common for people who are clearly upset and not content with their lives to lash out and try and bring other people down to their unsatisfactory emotional state.

Your not actually answering my questions though are you!!

As for your points, I don’t stay overnight in layby’s & guess what…msa’s have toilets & showers

I can cook in the cab for the same it would cost at home.

As for a doctor I never bother with them, if I’m I’ll I don’t need a doctor to tell me.

Banks- don’t need to go in one, have a phone.

If I choose to cut the grass or paint the fence, guess what I have a weekend to do that.

Children’s plays etc I’m guessing I’m not the only dad that works during the day & cà nt see everything my kids are involved in.

We could go on & on but at the end of the day we all do what works for us & if we are happy then fair play.

And by the way, anyone who tell’s it how it is on this site is called a troll, the truth hurts them so much.
You see i am not into the big truck or Grill on the front or how big the bed is or how big my lights are or how much my truck cost or what colour it is or if it can turn left or right. WHAT I WANT IS A LIVING WITH A LIFE AND I HAVE THAT AT THE MOMENT.

well then ■■■■ off and live it no one gives a flying ■■■■ what you think idiot

I thought I did answer your points, you are lucky you get your parking paid a lot don’t so no toilets or showers
You can cook in the cab but that’s using your hours up mine is cooked and on the table for me when I walk in
One day you may need a doctor no good if you are in a MSA miles away
You are lucky you can get cash out of your phone I need a cash machine and ones at MSA charge £2 to use
You can cut the grass at the weekend but that’s taking away your weekend
You may not be the only dad that works during the day but how many in your kids class never see them all week

Like you say everyone has to do what’s right for them, when I worked it out being away all week was not right for me.

nightline, life is about choices and no matter what anyone rants about on forums its each to there own, everybody has different lifestyles so enjoy what you do if not change.

children, children, this numbnut is always posting these “drivers are ■■■■ and doing ■■■■ jobs for ■■■■ money”.

Well said mate he,s a wind up merchant.
regards dave.

Jeysus man get a life, and stop staring and being bitchy behind a computer screen, trying to wind people up.
This job has:-
My house paid for.
Boys thru college, now at universities.
Good standard of living with no dept.
Money in the bank.
We are not forced to do this job but some like it, compared to your boring routine drive.
Its a better job now than it used to be ,better equipment, legal, and a lot more, but enough said.
So what more can i achieve.
I was not going to reply, as anyone can see from the posts, you like to wind up people.
Klunk

God gives you choices.

That’s the problem. I was called to this job in a visit from Our Lady herself. So in effect I’m doing gods work and who am I to question the motives of our lord god himself. So while I’m stuck in this hellish life living in a tin box I rest safe in the knowledge that my place in heaven is assured. Plus God arranged for me to have a fantastic truck to carry out my ecclesiastical duties.

umThe OP tells the truth and the bigots insult him for saying how it is.Personal attacks are not allowed on this forum.
We sleep in a tin box with pathetic night heaters for the winter and no air con pods on the cab roof to keep cool at night for a poxy £20 per night. :imp:
Would an airlinw pilot or train driver sleep in his cockpit.

Nightline has big issues with trampers/drivers doing nights out i think he’s a ex tramper who was maybe raped in the showers at one of those god forsaken truckstops
I’ve tramped about for every bit of the 22yrsI’ve drove trucks the last 10 mainly Europe, weekends away always made good money enjoyed the travel and freedom the laughs and craics and with no regrets and yes im married 2 kids so before you pack me off to hell id like to say its got f…all to do with you what others prefer to do
and yes you are a proper ■■■■■■
