Are some of you guys that have sent PMs putting yourself forward for the job going to give a bit of back up

According to bubsy06 you are all monkeys

I already have done so, earlier in the thread  just been keeping my head low for a bit and seeing where this ends up going.

But seriously, whats the problem with someone offering a job ? albeit a minimum wage job to someone whos willing to work for minimum wage ? I mean come on guys, is it really gonna affect your wage ? No i didn’t think so.

I personally have experience in running my own business as a Self Employed Service Engineer. Travelling all across the midlands, I had to wind up the business due to overheads going through the roof. (Van conked out big time and was only just scraping a living as it was)

I sold what remained of the business (assets) to fund my HGV training, that also gave me a steady £500 p/month to fallback on , ontop of my wifes wages (£500 , which only just covers the mortgage payment). Anyway that extra £500 fallback ends next month, meaning i need a job, and now.

As has been said before, yes there are cleaning jobs for £6.50 p/hour. BUT what chance you think i have of getting one? I have applied to Bus companies, Schools to be a caretaker, and some other jobs to name a few.

So all i can say is , When the ZB hits the fan, you will do pretty much whatever you have to do to keep a roof over your families heads. And tbh, hats off to Gumbo for offering it to us, rather than just placing an ad in polish in the local rag. Give the guy some slack, as its not as easy as most people think running your own business.

Also dont suggest the dole as an alternative please. if anyone had thoroughly looked into it, Self Employed people who lose their source of income for whatever reason cannot sign on, and get dole. and as my wife works i cant get income based job seekers either.

If companies start realising they can get class 1 drivers for £5.73ph what do you think they might start doing? If no one applies for a job at £5.73ph then they will increase that wage until they start getting applicants.

He is offering the lowest he can by law. Id sooner sell my bum than work for that.
BUM FOR SALE!

I can offer £5.73 only if it is a clean bum

Thanks BigJon for the support,
I don’t mind the slating as i stated in a earlier post the wages are abit low , and when things pan out it will be going up  i dont want to shoot myself in the foot to early in the game

Try phoning agencies and you tell me,

I deliver to Hotels and Bars
From 5am - 1 pm

So i meet all the cleaners , and supervisors.
and they are crying out for staff.
Thats why they offer over the minimum wage.

I am lucky to be driving at the moment,
but have struck up friendships with cleaning companies,
in case things go pear shaped.

Plus you can work flexi time,
So you can work around job hunting.

Here’s a deal, help me get through me class 1 monitary wise and I’ll be the ■■■■■ you need

well i hope no one on here loses there precious job because if this carries on with the down turn most companies will expect people to get out of bed for £5.73 ph. These that are facing redundencies and supension for some many months would be glad to get work like that seeing as if your still getting a wage in from the company u work for you get [zb] all off the state. Like said before anything is better than nothing.

Censor dodge removed. L.

I’m currently driving that steed of a wagon the Sweet FA so just trying/pushing my luck

From Gumbo’s silly one line replies and Bart simpson pic…this is clearly a wind up…

As for the actual topic been brought up… In desperate times people will do desperate things…when they can’t see whats at the end of the tunnel or how to get out of the cage…but this will only last as long as those desperate times last…then it’s later’s or dash some proper cash

When saying so…don’t those Reed Boardall people pay some silly rubbish wage

Gents the patter just gets better and better on this thread…no wonder yer potential employer gumbo is laughing his head off, I am too! It’s been good entertainment.

However, if the work is OK (and fridge work often is), the truck and trailer both serviceable and the hours high enough to provide a better wage than it may initially sound, then someone will go for it. Worst case they start and don’t like it and chuck in the towel after a week, nothing lost. Gumbo may well have to up the rate if this happens too often, who knows.

I agree that £5.73 is a crap rate but if that’s what’s on offer and a driver wants to do it that’s their choice, it’s not anyone’s biz on here to slag them off. I personally would rather try it than watch Jeremy Kyle daily and attempt to negotiate that sad process of claiming the dole which is torture.

Also, with respect to an O licence and CPC, some of you are missing a trick in that he does not need to have either personally if he’s hooked up with someone who already has both (the very person he was looking for recently  ) but has no trucks…and there are guys out there with one or both already in place but no wheels and more importantly no work to carry out. Think about it.

maka paka what is the diference between workin for 5.73 ph and driving 44 toners for 5.73 ph one is a fix base off work the other is mobile dont see the diference.

tbh id rather drive a 44 tonner than scub ZB’y toilets for a job

I reckon MP is nudging at the price in time and £’s of gaining a licence to drive said 44 tonner against the cost of learning to drive a mop.

I still need to pinch myself.

Class one driver £5.73 p/h :open_mouth:

Mop pilot £6.75 p/h

I see an opportunity for a new website MOPNETUK
