40 mph limit on A roads

I’ve had a car driver ring my ex TM up and report me for doing 40 and hanging the job out. I asked TM “what’s the lorrys’ speed limit on a scw?” about 4 times and he dodged the answer…phone down.

Dont get caught and you wont have to pay any money to em, they aint hard to spot, its more like a slow reflex

since paying lots of fines and plenty of points over the years! i decided not to pay any more money out! so why is it that i now stick to 40mph on single rds! i get every muppet trying to overtake me even in dangerous situations! especially artics!
what ever happend to paid by the hr!

yes i work for DHL so have no choice anymore as reguarly checked on trackers whether we stick to 40mph! and threatend with the sack if we are found to be speeding!

so please guys if you see DHL truck going at 40mph its not our fault! aswell as being the law!

drive safe!

A-lot of folk are on salary and job and knock mate, the quicker they get the job done the better their hourly rate, say they are on £100 a day, they do the job in 15 hours that’s £6.66 an hour, if they do the job in 10 hours that’s £10 an hour. If your paid by the hour surely you wont have a problem with pulling over every now and again? and why is it you do 50+mph on DC and the motorway  you paid by the hour aint ya? why not stick to 35mph?

Salary or not if the limit is 40 then do 40 if it is safe to do so

i worrked for fagan&whalley&got pulled into office in front of graham fagan&sidekick told i was taking too long to do the job mainly for having my breaks instead of when tipping loads plus doing 40mph on single carriage rds over a week that adds a bit of time on your weekly wage which they were not happy with when compared with the other speedfreaks i worked with.ps.they frowned on you if you were not polishing your tanks on your breaks iether.i suppose everybody else got my interogation hence why some towed the line me &others left pretty sharp

I am now diarising all my near misses and avoiding action I have to take whilst doing 40 on SC`s, this is so I can take it to my speed awareness course that I will be soon attending  :sunglasses:
I had to slow to 20MPH this morning, to avoid a head on collision with a Merc Sprinter luton van on my side of the road, A17 Leadingham, I flashed him a couple of times, but he just gave me the two finger salute as he came by me :unamused: :unamused: If I had not have slowed, he would be dead now…What is wrong with these people■■?

Yeah, what’s that all about? People who do something dangerous or even just make a mistake getting angry with you as if it’s your fault?

A few examples.

Bloke pulls out of T junction right in front of me causing me to brake sharply gives me the coffee bean sign. Didn’t even have time to flash or beep him, maybe he just saw the alarm in my face and reacted to it.

Similar situation where a lady is about to pull out of a side road right in front of me has to stop sharply. She swore at me and banged her hand on the steering wheel.

Lady swerves in to my path to avoid a dead badger and glares at me for not anticipating that she would do such a thing. Probably was my fault not to have foreseen her actions as most people would rather get hit by an HGV instead of hit a dead animal.

Sunglasses and spikey hair rep in audi comes flying round a corner over the white line and is furious with me for not swerving in to the kerb to avoid him.

Driver on slip road who sits next to me matching my speed expecting me to pull over blareing her horn instead of adjusting her speed and either pulling in front of me or dropping behind me.

All my fault apparently.

Being in a car makes people really aggressive. If you nearly bumped in to someone on foot on the pavement or in a supermarket for example, you just say ‘sorry mate’, laugh and carry on. But get behind the wheel and it’s a different story.

Wipes foam from chin. Rant over.

couldnt agree more with the slip road thing, really grips my ■■■■ when they do that, knob heads, have actually had one who carried on up the hard shoulder rather than back off and pull in behind, the mind boggles !!!

Polishing tanks on break?? Have parked at south mims before cleaning out the cab on break and Mr VOSA sat there ‘advised’ me that cleaning the cab out is classed as other work lol

I’d say that depends if it’s in your contract or something you choose to do.

You might’ve been feeling tired, 15 mins power nap, polish the truck, wide awake.

One of our drivers was told this by vosa, caught using an air duster on break.

I once got behind this ■■■■■■■■ one of the arm on the window brigade in his beat up Mondeo doing 38 / 40 and tried to pass him a couple of times , but he then decided to give it a bit more speed , so I could not pass him. When we stopped at some lights he ran back to me and said " Whats your problem mate you want to keep to your 40 mph limit " I then informed him to check the law a 7.5 tonner can do 50mph , so get back to you heap of scrap and p155 0ff.

Your problem is obviously that you’re on the same level as the [zb] car drivers.

My day starts when I leave home and ends when I get back, I do whatever is safe and legal to complete my job, I get to work and back home safely and in the middle I do my job in the same way. For this I’m only paid for the time I spend actually working and I don’t count the travelling to work time in my hourly pay, so if you want to teararse around the country, just don’t expect me to help you on your way to, at best the dole or at worst your grave or even worse prison for killing someone else.
Think about it if your not paid enough for a fair days work, look around, there’s better work out there.

Try getting a job on logs. You wouldn’t last 5 minutes

Squiddy:
All my fault apparently.

Admitting you’re at fault, finally we’re getting somewhere

About not lasting 5minutes on logs, people say the same about tippers. It’s ■■■■■■■■. Nobody puts a gun to your head, yes many firms pay bonus (we do) but I treat is as such. If I earn it I earn it it’s not my motor so what it makes per day is of no interest to me. I plod on, do what’s asked and if I get held up I drop a load (or don’t ring for more) I certainly don’t speed up to make right someone elses ■■■■ up.

Must admit never seen a tipper ‘plod along’

If your running a company with time sensitive deliveries or amount of drops is essential you couldn’t afford to employ someone who drags a job out. Time is money for a lot of companies, if it ain’t earning then, well, we know the rest…

Who said anything about dragging the job out :unamused: ?

"Driver on slip road who sits next to me matching my speed expecting me to pull over blareing her horn instead of adjusting her speed and either pulling in front of me or dropping behind me.

You taking note of this Elsie…? You bell-end. :unamused:

I’m going to Barnstable tomorrow my speed limiter will be set at 40 mph once I get off of the motorway last time a truck overtook me down this road I saw it further down the road pulled into the layby by the police it’s definitely not worth it

Complying with the law is not dragging the job out… :unamused:
