A-lot of folk are on salary and job and knock mate, the quicker they get the job done the better their hourly rate, say they are on £100 a day, they do the job in 15 hours that’s £6.66 an hour, if they do the job in 10 hours that’s £10 an hour. If your paid by the hour surely you wont have a problem with pulling over every now and again? and why is it you do 50+mph on DC and the motorway you paid by the hour aint ya? why not stick to 35mph?

Why do you supermarket trolley drivers insist on keeping to not much more than 36 - 37 mph on a 40 road, will you get disciplined for reaching the speed limit ?
More to the point, whats with all the cars doing 45-50 on the motorways these days? The past few weeks I have spent more time in the middle lane with the rest of the lorries than in the “slow” lane…

You have a point there. Ive noticed an increasing number of strange folk in cars “draughting” and sticking to my tail on near empty DC’s doing about 52. Its funny that they normally get bored with that after 10 miles and decide to overtake anyway .
In the book “Secret Diary of Adrian Mole” one of the characters advocates driving in the slipstream of lorries as a way of reducing fuel consumption.I would like to add Dont do this at home and think of the children.
I don’t have any problem with anyone doing 40 on a single carriageway, what annoys me is the ones who then do 56 when they get to stretch of dual, stopping or at least making overtaking difficult. Keep all the rules or none please.
I personally think the 40 limit is outdated and should be relaxed on suitable stretches of road, maybe in conjunction with an over 3.5t overtaking restriction.
Seeing more of this every day, no problem with people doing the speed limit.
I was doing 30 on cruise, in a 30 zone, and had an idiot fly up behind me on a Learner motorcycle, started swerving around in my mirrors to catch my attention so obviously he wanted past. I moved over as far as I could without impeding the cycle lane to let him pass but instead he just sat there wondering what the hell I was doing.
Same happened on the same bit of road except with a car except I never moved over but he was gesticulating to me to speed up!! I don’t like the speed limit more than the next guy but it’s there for a reason so might as well stick to it.

Your problem is obviously that you’re on the same level as the ■■■■■■■■ car drivers.
My day starts when I leave home and ends when I get back, I do whatever is safe and legal to complete my job, I get to work and back home safely and in the middle I do my job in the same way. For this I’m only paid for the time I spend actually working and I don’t count the travelling to work time in my hourly pay, so if you want to teararse around the country, just don’t expect me to help you on your way to, at best the dole or at worst your grave or even worse prison for killing someone else.
Think about it if your not paid enough for a fair days work, look around, there’s better work out there.

I believe they are called “hypermilers” those who try to travel further than most using the same amount of fuel.
Lots of new trailers are fitted with vortex generators which break up the air as it flows over the rear of the trailer causing turbulence which probably causes following cars to use more fuel, as for the OP if you drive on the limiter on an SC and you are involved in an accident try explaining it away.
