2012 Volvo FH Series - Launches September 5th

Well that was crap 10mins of over hipness I thought there would be a lot more shown of it :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Sam Millar:
I’m not overly impressed to be honest, I can’t believed they’ve attached the mirrors to a pole  Volvo mirrors on the current FH series along with Scania look the dogs but every lorry that his mirrors attached to a simple pole just looks cheap.

One of the big complaints with the FH has been the blind spot caused be the mirrors, so maybe this is trying to answer that problem. Also the plastic arms can be completely wiped out by skip lorries coming the other way and taking up to much of the road. :imp: and they cost about £300 to replace.

surely a simple set of aluminium guards would fix that, not the point though obviously.

Not really it took the mirror arms as well, it was a brand new truck and the lads first trip in it, I was in front in a car and I had to get over for the skip truck, he didn’t stand a chance to avoid it without driving it into the hedge.

jessicas dad:
i bet the first i see painted up will be polish.

Yer are polish hauliers still getting grant from the EU to up grade there fleets?

Nope, all those tacky guards do is ensure the entire mirror gets ■■■■■■ in situations where only one piece should be, and they are known to smash windows if they get pushed in hard

Well that is bloody ugly, looks like a Hino!

Cold Up North:

Lol, it actually does look like a Hino…

I don’t think it’s ugly, and it’s the inside that counts (my dad told me that when I was 12)

Don’t think it looks too bad although that grill looks hideous, the side profile looks quite good.

Bout time Daf & Renault something better than 20 year old facelifts.

tanktrotter:
This is what you will see tonight. 0

That is one ugly truck. Those spotlights look way too low. Can’t see them lasting long before getting broken.

I reckon Colour code the grill and bit with the Badge on it and won’t look to bad. 20 years seems about right, the original FH came out in 1994.

I think you’ll find the Renault range will be updated very soon.

Yeah, I agree. Splash a bit of paint about on the front and it’ll look great I reckon. Although I must admit, I wasn’t expecting it to look quite so ‘strange’ (imo) in ‘basic’ form. It looks like an FMX on steroids from the front, and pretty much the only place to put your company name is the (small looking) headboard. I guess these new ‘super-grills’ are a necessity for Euro 6/7/8/9…, but they don’t seem to help styling.
No doubt I’ll be a crazed New FH superfan before the month is out though!
Looking forward to having a proper look inside.

Da fuq is that?

Why does it need 4 grills?

stagedriver:

Increased cooling due to to more and more stringent and expensive to achieve emissions regulations, ie Euro VI currently. I reckon anything released from now onwards will just have the cab perched on top of an open chassis and engine area!

Been reading through the launch website

http://fh1.volvotrucks.com/en-gb/#section1/0

Got a bit of info about the interior,
Probably top of the range only,
but has built in Air con unit so you don’t have to get a roof one mounted especially as they reckon the sun roof has been made larger to double up as an emergency exit, a drying bag and a 7 litre water container that has it’s own cubby hole.

Speaking to some one v high up in the volvo renault group the new magnus will look the same but with a dif badge.

Dissapointed with the launch, watched from 8pm gmt on Volvo trucks live web launch and just a load of drivel. Launch was last 3 mins. Wanted to see inside the cab, the drive train, the new independent front suspension, nothing just a pixelated display of flashing lights, bit of a glimse of the outside and then it ended. :frowning:

just seen it advertised on itv… after the news… now i never seen that befour… a lorry being advertised on telly… came as a shock lol

+1. Very nice for the vips at the launch but very little substance i agree.

I like it a lot. The small badge is a bit of a let down so too is the headboard but neither are a real issue. The only thong I’d say though is the current FH and R series look like ‘premier’ trucks, ahead of DAF, Renault and others by a long way. I don’t think looks quite good enough to be the replace meant for Volvos premier range. Iveco maybe, even Renault but not Volvo.
