When I got my Class 1 at 21, my first time out on my own was in my mates brand new motor, pulling a tipper trailer, while he went to the motor show.
I was the world’s worst reverser…so I took my Dad with me. 
Then around 98 another mate was starting back after 10 years off it,.so he came away with me for a week as a refresher, the guy I worked for at that time was spot on and he gave me permission.
As Jake says, go for a refresher course or go with a mate for a couple of days.
