I can just make out one of the two B-series that we ran on the convoy. I ran right at the back, driving the Atki that our “steady” old boy usually drove. Took me a week to get the old Gardner breathing properly and subsequently got promoted a bit further up the line!

Hanson only had that one Maggie in Longson colours , driven by a chap with the wonderful name of Gordon Bennet . those were the days of the cb radios , so he was christened Jackboot . It was a puny motor , everyone passed him up Axe Edge on the Leek road . Dave
